If you ask NBC News, it seems American schoolchildren do not like President Donald Trump. In two videos released by the network, students deliver their “hopes and fears” to the new president in predominantly negative comments.
“Just because I’m Mexican doesn’t mean you can build a wall in my country,” a young girl said in “Dear Mr. President: Letters from the American Children.”
“Not letting immigrants into America is really not nice, so please let them in,” another young boy said.

Trump administration poised to change transgender student bathroom guidelines
The Trump administration plans to roll back protections for transgender students, reversing federal guidance that required the nation’s public schools to allow children to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that matched their gender identities.
The reversal would represent a significant setback for the gay rights movement, which made enormous gains under President Barack Obama. It suggests that President Trump, who had signaled during the campaign and in the early days of his presidency that he supports gay and transgender rights, will hew closer to the GOP party line.

DHS Shifts Funds from Defending Illegals to New Office to Help Their VICTIMS
On Tuesday, DHS Sec. Kelly issued an immigration memo shifting the U.S. government’s efforts and resources away from defending illegal aliens to helping their victims.
The memo creates the “Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement” (VOICE) office, which will act as “liaison between ICE and the known victims of crimes committed by removable aliens.”
The memo also reallocates “any and all resources” currently used to advocate for illegal aliens and terminates “outreach and advocacy services” provided to them:

The city should stop making arrests for minor offenses like fare beating to avoid setting more people up for deportation, a city lawmaker and legal aid groups said Tuesday.
Under President Trump’s new hardline immigration policies, an undocumented immigrant becomes a priority for deportation if charged with any criminal offense. And people who get arrested have their fingerprints sent to the feds.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents have even been waiting outside Manhattan misdemeanor arraignment courts in recent days to nab people after their court appearances, according to New York County Defender Services.

Thanks to public outcry after a story KOLD News 13 first brought you, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey had asked a state licensing board to drop an investigation into a Tucson cosmetology student.
Juan Carlos Montes de Oca found himself in hot water with the board after giving free haircuts to the homeless.
The Arizona State Board of Cosmetology is investigating a complaint against him for practicing without a license.
In a letter to the board, Ducey said, “I find this outrageous, and I call on you to end your investigation, save Mr. Montes de Oca the inconvenience of having to travel to Phoenix to appear before your body, and waive any fees or penalties the cosmetology board is considering against him.”

Pennsylvania School Sees Improvement After Dropping Michelle Obama’s Lunch Program
Since opting out of the federal program, Penn-Trafford High School in Harrison City has increased lunch options for students and more than made up for lost federal funding, according to TribLive.
Students at the school waited longer in line for fewer meal choices with Obama’s lunch initiative. Program rules required schools to offer healthier food options with less calories and more fruits and vegetables, but students would often throw fruits and vegetables in the garbage.
Brianna Lander, 18, a senior at Penn-Trafford, told TribLive that she has seen a change in students’ lunchroom behavior since the school left the lunch program.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe Stands with Planned Parenthood

In his remarks, McAuliffe also likened North Carolina’s bathroom privacy law to the bill he vetoed as another example of discrimination that could harm Virginia’s business interests.
“Discrimination breeds hatred and we will not tolerate that in the commonwealth of Virginia,” he said. “We treat everyone equally, with dignity and respect.”

Democratic Commissioner Ellen Weintraub used her official position to demand Trump show proof of voter fraud
The Washington Free Beacon first reported that FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub potentially ran afoul of ethics rules after using her position to call for Trump to produce evidence of claims that he and former Sen. Kelly Ayotte lost in New Hampshire due to voter fraud.
Weintraub released an official statement using an FEC header on Feb. 10 asking Trump to substantiate his claims of voter fraud. Weintraub continued her campaign online and attempted to recruit celebrities in her efforts. Additionally, she appeared on television in her official capacity to discuss her efforts.
