Back from the brink

In July, I was hospitalized for acute kidney failure.

The labs from the hospital report say my kidney function was at 15%. I just got back from my second post-hospital check-up and it’s at 26%!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, God!!!

I love my new doctor and am very comfortable with the regimen he has me on. We’re going to continue with blood draws once a week and another in person exam with him in two weeks so he can, as he put it, “see if you’re looking better.”

Ha! He’s so polite. The fact is, I look like crap. I lost way too much weight and my eye circles are bigger than my face.

BUT … I haven’t vomited in days and days and I am getting around the house without a walker.

I tire quickly so we’re going to hang on to the wheelchair and the walker a while longer for outdoor excursions.

Yes, me … outdoors!  Imagine that. 🙂

  5. Usually, my prayers are answered with the Magic 8-ball reply of “Answer unclear. Ask again later.” At best. I always hope that, as I’ve read, when a prayer is apparently unanswered, the delay often betokens a better answer, although one which is for some good reason greatly delayed. I get used to expecting the “greatly delayed” answer.

Just this morning, chatting with Mr God, I asked – as I often do, but today with special emphasis – for blessings of health for His faithful servant chrissy. Then when I tune in to PoliNation, there you are with a positive report. Wow! Don’t often get that kind of fast, sure reply! 😀

Not that I think my feeble 2¢ worth of supplications really make much difference, but with this positive reinforcement, I will surely continue them… just in case.

So good to “hear” from you, hyphenated one!

I thought of you often when we went to Wegman’s to replenish the organic produce. It was my first time using an electric cart! I was very timid at first, but managed a U-turn and a K-turn before we left. 🙂

  12. Sorry I’m late to the party (I’ve been gone for a few days) but wonderful to see you back, Chrissy.

As a diabetic for ten years now, whose numbers are not in control, I have a latent fear of kidney problems. I knew one’s liver could recuperate, but I was unaware kidneys can also recover?

    Glad you’re healing.

Thank you, especially for the prayers. I am 100% sure I would have died a long time ago without all the good folks who storm heaven on my behalf. 🙂
