Ebola becomes political fight

I am concerned about it, and it’s a big mistake to downplay it and act as if it’s not a big deal,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) told conservative radio host Laura Ingraham. He said Obama officials are putting “political correctness” ahead of public health.
But Democrats are also arguing that a lack of health funding has weakened the nation’s response to preventing Ebola.
“Funding for biomedical research is crucial and when Congress works on a funding bill in the coming months we need to ensure the [National Institutes of Health] is fully funded,” Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) said in a statement this week.

Obama Mocks American Concern Over Obamacare, Whines About Fox News Again
During his new but old economic speech yesterday at Northwestern University, President Obama mocked Americans who have concerns about Obamacare limiting their freedom and whined about Fox News.
“While good affordable health care might seem like a fanged threat to the freedom of the American people on Fox News, it turns out it’s working pretty well in the real world,” he said.
Obamacare is in fact a disaster in the real world. Fox News on the other hand, is a roaring success. Over to you Greta.
“When leaders blame others they sure don’t look like leaders, they look absolutely childish and it’s distressing President Obama is so quick to blame others.”

U.S. Supreme Court is asked to block Wisconsin’s voter ID law
ACLU says there’s not enough time to implement before election
In their petition, voter ID opponents told the Supreme Court that there’s not enough time to properly implement the law in the month remaining in the tight race between GOP Gov. Scott Walker and Democratic challenger Mary Burke.
“Thousands of Wisconsin voters stand to be disenfranchised by this law going into effect so close to the election.
They tried this without success in Ohio. Its doubtful SCOTUS will take this up either.
Were the government giving freebies away but you needed an ID to get them, every last one of these “disenfranchised” would manage to get one.

Reporters kept out as Obama attends $50,000 per plate fundraiser
The president attended a fundraiser for Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn on Thursday, looking to boost the embattled Democrat facing a tough reelection battle this fall.
According to the Quinn campaign, the 25 attendees at the lunchtime event paid $50,000 each to attend.
Yet the media still hammers the gOP as the party of the rich.

George W. Bush was given the opportunity to criticize Obama on Islamic State and Iraq. Here’s how he handled it.
“The president has to make the choices he thinks are important,” Bush said during a Fox News interview that aired Thursday. “I’m not going to second guess our president. I understand how tough the job is. To have a former president bloviating and second-guessing is, I don’t think, good for the presidency or the country.”

WATCH: Joe Biden is ready for bigger things, says being VP is a real ‘bitch’
So’s karma, plughead.Soon it will bite you on your gelatinous ass.
Vice presidents throughout U.S. history have famously chafed at their position, John Adams himself calling it the “most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived.”
And it appears that Adams’ restlessness has carried over to Vice President Joe Biden, who referred to his station at an even Thursday evening in somewhat less eloquent terms.
A student at an event hosted Thursday evening by the Institute of Politics at Harvard University said: “I’m a senior at the college. I’m the vice president of the student body here.”
“Isn’t it a bitch?” Biden shot back, much the crowd’s amusement.
Biden later clarified that he actually enjoys being vice president and that he enjoys working for President Obama.

Congressional Dems Want FCC to Unblock LGBT Sites at Schools, Libraries
These are some screencaps that IOTW could show
A group of congressional Democrats has joined with a group of activist organizations in asking the Federal Communications Commission to ensure that online filtering software at schools doesn’t block “access to important LGBT resources for library patrons and high school students.”
By law, libraries and schools must block online content that is “obscene; child pornography; or harmful to minors.”
“It has been reported to me that filtering software also can be used to block much more,” said Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.), chairman of the Congressional Anti-Bullying Caucus.

“A three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans overturned a lower court ruling yesterday and allowed the portion of the law requiring abortion offices to meet the same standards as other ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) to take effect. This morning on the radio news, I heard the complaint that this will lead to “millions of women being forced to drive thousands of miles for their ‘reproductive health care,'”
Millions of women! Thousands of miles! For “reproductive health care”? Condoms? The Pill? String to tie her knees together? Those all would seem commonly enough available, even in Backwash, Texas. Perhaps they mean ob/gyn checkups? Pregnancy nutrition advice? Clean, well-equipped birthing rooms? Post-natal health care? Hmm?
One might imagine that Texas had banned “reproductive health care”! (Save us, Wendy Davis, you’re our only hope!) Yet, ironically, all they did was insist that “reproductive health care” be (brace yourself) healthy, and meet certain reasonable, non-extraordinary health-care facility standards. Yet, with a stroke, Texas is down from 40 “reproductive health care” clinics to 8, “more than an 80% reduction in clinics statewide in nearly fourteen months, with a 100% reduction in clinics west and south of San Antonio.” (I see that’s down to most of the Texas-Mexico border. Hmm.)
Extremely rare, extremely early, only in most dire necessity, the tragic necessity of an abortion. A family’s heart-wrenching decision with their doctor, a mother’s grievous choice. Somehow, that scenario is hard to adjust with millions of women! thousands of miles!
Much less filthy genocidal butcher shops.

Back when it was illegal to kill unborn babies, the pro-abortion crowd argued for legalization on the grounds that it would put the dreaded back alley butchers out of business. Now that some states are enacting common-sense legislation to make abortions safer for the women who seek them — still lethal for the baby, but less likely to maim or kill the mother — now they want to make their states safe for the back alley butchers. Makes perfect sense.

Sorry for the rant. Been off my feed lately, and that quote was percolating in my head since this morning, and I guess it had to bubble out somewhere.
Furthermore.
“… at last week’s Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBC) annual legislative conference, where black activists teamed up with Planned Parenthood to host a panel promoting contraception and increased access to abortion for African American women. …
“But Ryan Bomberger of the pro-life Radiance Foundation slammed the event in an editorial, dismissing it as a cynical attempt to twist the facts and scare black women into supporting Planned Parenthood’s agenda.”
