Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) announced on Thursday that he has filed a resolution directing the House sergeant-at-arms to “arrest Lois Lerner for contempt of Congress” over the IRS targeting scandal.

Under the proposed resolution, Lerner would be held in a Washington, D.C., jail and would be given access to an attorney and all her constitutional rights.

text of resolution is at link:

If you bother to read the article you’ll see ‘Orange Slush’ has to sign the arrest warrant. This will be another waste of time,I’m afraid. Just thought somebody might be interested.

Thanks for posting this, Pete! Could well be that Boener will pass, but Lerner’s crimes are so horribly evident, the Obamanation may let her be a fall gal.

I wonder if these folks would be so arrogant if Egregious Betrayal of Duty by a Public Servant was a hanging offense. Plenty of rope to go around.

Thanks, Pete. There’s been so much news today, I haven’t had a minute to play SCRABBLE! Yet. Going now before bob and frankly get testy with me for holding up their games. 🙂

    • Relax! Enjoy! Grab a triple word square, cth! Hope you don’t see this for a while.

I miss playing scrabble (I think I’m in Scrabble Chump League when I see you talking about it – I have bitter childhood memories of Scrabble sharks). Cards. Risk, Jotto. (Ever play Jotto?) With the kids grown & either gone or busy even when they’re around, games aren’t a Thing We Do anymore. Mrs & I don’t even play Gin much. Need grandkids!

Mainly I wanted to say: cth, you are on fire lately. The news merits attention and focus by all creative minds, and you’re all over it. I encourage you to continue, just as long as you’re feeling balanced, e.g. able to take a while to only worry that your tile rack has nothing but 1-pointers.

      Some random thaughts: 🙂

I knew Sheila Jackson Lee’s district was gerrymandered but I didn’t know how absurdly until today when I looked up her district on Wikipedia.

Actually … a rack of one pointers is a good thing. It’s tough to win without at least one BINGO and it’s tough to make a BINGO with those high point letters. My SCRABBLE strategy book basically says, “Get rid of them FAST.”

Until I read that book, I never thought about rack building … hoarding letters, watching for easy combos like RE/ER, ING, DE/ED that greatly up your chances of a BINGO. Now it’s a top priority for me and Bob, the Queen of the Board, has to watch her backside. ::snicker::

Then there’s that dark horse, Frankly, who started out scoring in the 100s but learned very QUICKLY and is now a serious contender. We are having GREAT games these days! We’re very evenly matched.

And we’re grooming up a fourth. She’s not as addicted yet, but she’s plugging on and I see her acquiring mad skilz and finishing with bigger scores. It’s really fun to see. 🙂

I’d enjoy playing you, Mindful. You’re so sharp, you’d learn fast and become a contender! If you have time. And you’d have to get a Facebook account first.

(I also have icky memories of Scrabble for Blood between my male relatives. I don’t play that way. I’m far more likely to tell you what’s on my own rack simply because it’s funny than to try and slaughter you.)
