On this last day of sessions for the year at the Supreme Court,two significant rulungs were handed down.
This first. Hobby Lobby vs. US,the court rules 5-4 that private companies CANNOT be forced to provide contraceptive benefits to their employees,citing First Amendment rights. At last word,Sandra Fluke was considering taking a vow of celibacy and go into grief counseling.
In the other,Harris v. Quinn,involving a case of a woman in Illinois that was caring for her own disabled son when the bought-and-paid-for union stooge Pat Quinn signed a bill saying all home healthcare workers must join the professional thug organization known as the SEIU.Again.the court ruled 5-4 in favor of the individual against the union crime bosses.

According to ABC news,before Adams’s flight from Detroit to Los Angeles took off, the star saw a soldier standing by the flight gate, and very quietly asked the airline to switch their seats so he could fly first class.
DW and I don’t go to many movies,and she has been nominated for an Academy Award 5 times.
The one movie we have seen is Touble With The curve,where she plays the lawyer-daughter of aging baseball scout Clint Eastwood.Justin Timberlake is also in it.Chrissy,if you haven’s seen it,I really think you’d enjoy it.

Thanks for the recommendation, Pete! I put it at the top of my queue. I saw that thing about her giving up her seat on Facebook, but didn’t recognize her by name. When I googled her career, I realized I’d really enjoyed her performances in Enchanted and Julie and Julia. Watching her with Clint should be worthy of a date night. 🙂 BTW, her bio says her dad was military; she was born in Italy while he was stationed there.

Rangel wrangled in potential ethics probe?
Rangel failed to report an all-expense paid trip to China last August with nine other lawmakers from the Congressional Black Caucus, the National Journal reported.
The 84-year-old New York Democrat was the only lawmaker who failed to report the trip, a violation of House rules.
Rangel has since corrected the disclosure forms, which his staff says was an oversight caused by a tough primary battle against state Sen. Adriano Espaillat last Tuesday.

Over on Ace of Spades blog this morning, Vic (Pistol Pete’s separated-at-birth brother) posted about the Vet fired from Cracker Barrel. Like Pete, Vic sided with the Vet. I’d already read about it from here, and posted this comment:
Note especially, wise businessfolk have to be aware that one innocent handout can end up with a line of bums putting notches on your garden gate. (“Do your good deeds in secret” is more than just humility, it’s good business.)
Others also suggested to Vic that the employee was in the wrong (someone said he was actually on his fifth violation), and Vic re-read the article and reversed his earlier opinion. Which led to me write this:
