Those dimples run in the family. It’s a little sad how those beards cover them up. The pics of the brothers as young men … woohoo. Willie’s oldest boy looks SO MUCH like Willie did in high school.

Wow, she sounds good! One of my favorite DD eps is the one where Willie freaks out about how she’s getting hot babe grown up dresses for a school event and he is so not ready to have his baby girl being the target of teen male hormones. I could so relate!

I wanted to dedicate this one to Chrissy’s warriors and all those who can’t be with their families while they defend us

Thank you, Pete! We are SO EXCITED to have 2/3 of our Troops coming HOME for the HOLIDAYS THIS YEAR!! (The Buzzers are staying put. It’s way too far, way too expensive, and why would anyone want to miss Christmas in Northern Alaska anyway!?)

Army Princess (who got promoted to CAPTAIN this year, WOOHOO!!), her GI hubby (who is PROUD of the fact his wife outranks him … I love him so much for that!!), and their adorable Baby Junior arrive here Sunday evening!! Gotta get BJ a stocking made asap. I’m thinking a smaller version of his Daddy’s Texas Cowboy Boot. He’s crawling. That should be interesting, what with the tree and the dogs. !!

Dearest needs to put up two new hooks on our stocking place, cuz we’re also having Warrior Princess and her Leatherneck hubby sometime later and he hasn’t been here for Christmas before, so I need to make him a stocking too. They’ve been married 3½ years, but I like to get to know the boys before I design one; I love the fabrics I found!

Also, we are BUTTON BUSTING PROUD of Warrior Princess, who just completed her final Bachelor semester with a 4.0 GPA … AND got accepted to graduate school in communications!!!!!!!!! This was the kid who struggled with school. Mama Buzz is a visual learner and Army Princess is an oral learner, so they were well adapted to academia. Warrior Princess is a kinesthetic learner. She excelled in early grades when there was a lot of art and games mixed in with the learning, but once school became more about reading and listening, she really struggled. Art, music and gym were her favorites. The rest, she grudgingly did … or not.

It took her 3 years to get through Community College, partly because she changed majors, so had to take more classes. But partly because she loaded up on the artsy fun stuff and left all the core requirements like Psych 101 and History 101 to the last semester. Then, she very nearly dropped out the Christmas before that last semester. Our dogs had both passed, she was living at home and missed them terribly, so I offered to get her a poodle puppy for Christmas if she’d stay in and finish her degree.

I was more concerned that she face down the difficulty and beat it than I was with her having a degree. She bright, pretty and has gobs of personality, so she would’ve done fine in her then-chosen field (photography) without an A.A., but if she finished, she’d always know she had DONE it. Next time sometime was really hard, she could look back and say, “I did that. I can do this.” So Dewey joined the family … and two months later, Warrior Princess enlisted in the Marine Corps, left for boot camp shortly after graduation in May, and we got to keep the dog. (We got him a sister cuz we’re old farts who don’t play rough house like his Marine Mommy. He was so bored when she left and still goes completely bonkers when he gets to see her.)

She met her One True Love in the Corps, excelled at her MOS (Combat Correspondent – photography, writing, broadcasting … got to take photos out of a helicopter and was published TWICE in Leatherneck!), met George Bush at the White House, did a tour in Iraq, and is now excelling in an academic discipline. My kids just never stop amazing me.

She’s been doing lots of writing and emailed me this semester to thank me for forcing her to learn touch typing because it was making her course works SO much easier. “You’ll thank me one day” sometimes happens! LOL

I can’t wait to see her and get to spend some time with my Marine sil. Please remember her biopsy in your prayers. She had a new spot on her lungs and they scoped her last week to get a piece and see if the parasite she picked up in Iraq is back or what. She didn’t see any war action in Iraq; the war was mostly over where she was sent and she was actually a tad bored. But boy howdy has the war been making itself felt in her life since. That parasite required surgery on one lung, both eyes (she has no tear ducts and will never wear contacts again), and now it may be back.

So just … put in a good word with the One who loves her more than anything. Thanks.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16

BEST COMMENT I’VE SEEN ON THIS: “I respect Phil’s right to say what he said. I respect A&Es right to fire him. I respect the family’s right to seek out a new contract with another network, and I respect viewers rights to never watch a show on A&E ever again.” < ITA.

Prayers up for Chrissys sil and her whole family.Hopefully the day will come soon when she has her whole brood together. There is nothing more enduring than family.I spoke to my oldest a while ago and told her what we got for their 4 children. She was feeling down because they couldn’t afford much for anybody.I reminded her I was in the same position 2 years ago when I wasn’t getting social security yet.I told her material things come and go.The people that you keep in your heart are all that endures. After nearly dying in march and talking at some length with her in my hospital room,(she works there) I realized I had a lot to look forward to.thats how I went from a 2 pack a day smoker for 40 years to stopping cold turkey. Its been over 9 months and I haven’t even had a craving.i hope I can be around to see my little ones grow up.That was all the motivation I needed.

Wow … no cravings! THAT is a miracle straight from God who … praise be to His Holy Name … is going to let us all be together forever, so even if it doesn’t happen here, we can look forward to a BIG HONKING PARTY when we get there.

Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller posted this on his Facebook: “A&E has produced more than a half dozen programs with the assistance of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. They will not do any more with my assistance while I am sheriff.”
