POLL:MAJORITY OF US JEWS STILL SUPPORT OBAMA
They are first and foremost liberals;being Jewish comes in a distant second. So sad they have turned their backs on the God of Abraham in favor of the graven image of a false prophet.

There are a lot of Black Christians in that camp as well. My #1 biggest disappointment has been Tyler Perry. When I saw he had hosted a big money fund-raiser for Obama recently, I threw all of his DVDs in the trash.

SARAH PALIN’S TOP PICK FOR VEEP:ALLEN WEST
This would be much the same as McCain in 2008-the candidate’s running mate makes him look like a bowl of cold oatmeal.

Assuming Romney, who would he pick for veep? My thinking has been going this way (and the pessimism may be a condition of this cold or whatever I’ve got).

Sarah? Good Heavens, no, as if she’d take that a second time anyway.
      Santorum? Even less likely.

Any Constitution-defending anyone? West? Jindal? Rubio? Ryan? No, no, no, and probably not. Who’s left out of the runners-up? Newt? Would he even take it? Romney/Gingrich — it’s as if they ran McCain/McCain! (Two pro-bama health care Republicans? It’s come to this? Really?)

Beyond that, anybody’s guess. A dramatic choice like Rice wouldn’t take it. Bolton might, but he won’t be asked and the Left would treat him like the second coming of Dick Cheney (and they’d be about right – heh).

Maybe someone right-wing but still acceptable, like most of the Oklahoma congresscritters. But, sadly, I see the WIN receding more and more into the distance as I contemplate, well, Romney/anyone to start with.

Our only hope may be that the chip in O’s head will fry so badly he’ll do something so outrageous, he won’t make it to the convention. But then what will we have to run against? Shrillery/Biden?

And with four more years of the Manchurian President, all I see is, hunker down, stock up on food, water, ammo, and barter-able goods, Short wave radios. Harder times ahead. Even if it doesn’t all collapse dramatically, it’s going to be a long politically-nuclear winter.

I have to agree with your assessment. I have also heard Kelly Ayotte from New Hampshire discussed as a possible VP. Don’t know enough about her to have an opinion about that yet. I think it is time to add to the canned goods.

Olbermann says he made a mistake. He said you can’t buy a 10 dollar chandelier(meaning himself) when there is no house to put it in.
Rush said Olberman may think he is a 10 million dollar chandelier, but is actually the $50 lampshade sitting in the corner that nobody pays attention to.

I just read “My Life Without God” by William J. Murray. His worse-than-worthless mother, “Mad Murray”, also couldn’t keep a job. He recounts her lame excuses for getting fired again … they sound just like this.
        ——–
This book is a quick read and a particularly interesting one for the times. William J. Murray is the son of Madalyn Murray O’Hair, who won the landmark 1963 lawsuit filed on his behalf (something he did NOT want her to do) that effectively banned prayer in public schools. In this book, Bill shares in vivid detail his upbringing – the hate-filled home where screaming battles went on each and every day, how the legal case and his toxic mother blighted his life. He pulls no punches … admitting to his dependence on drugs, his years as a fugitive, his failed marriages and the daughter he abandoned to his mother’s care. He shares his conversion to Christianity and also reviews the shocking evidence surrounding the disappearance of his mother, brother and daughter.

I hate this show. I hate the whole boot camp approach because it is doomed to fail. These people may lose weight for a while, but no one can keep up that kind of a pace. They will gain it back.
And as a former PE teacher, I hate it when exercise is depicted as something painful, or a chore. When Jane Fonda came up with her “feel the burn” videos, I wanted to smack her.
Fitness should be fun. That is the only way to stick with it. Just walking or rebounding can boost the metabolism. One does not need to suffer through some painful workout. In fact, over exercising puts more stress on the body. Case in point, Lance Armstrong or Dorothy Hamill.
Weight loss is not easy, but it is attainable when people get past the idea of always being on this or that diet, and just learning how to eat healthy foods.
I lost weight and regained my health simply by looking at food as medicine. If it is good for me, I eat it. If it is not. I don’t. We are all different when it comes to what foods are healthiest for our own metabolism. For me, it was going gluten and dairy free, and cutting out 90% of the sugar I use to consume. And no more processed foods. This is how I have been able to keep the weight off for over 4 years.
So when I see shows like this, that make it look so painful to lose weight, I just get furious. They are just exploiting people. They are not really teaching people to be healthy for life.
      IMHO

I am not being facetious here, GP, but what do you eat after you have cut out all the gluten, dairy, and sugar? I can think of meat, eggs, vegetables and fruit. Anything else? I am asking because my daughter has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and is already insulin dependent. She is a very tiny little gal, never overweight at all, so it is not something that she could have stopped from happening. That is changing the way I cook for her when she comes to dinner about once a week. To make it even harder, her serious boyfriend has just been diagnosed with gluten intolerance, so I am thinking: what in the world can I serve them for meals?

Ting, sorry to hear about your daughter. That must be so tough hard on her at such a young age.
I have learned to make lots of substitutions. Zuchinni cut up like Penne and just tossed in boiling water for a minute makes a great pasta replacement. Spaghetti squash is great too. I do eat eggs and meat, but not in large amounts. I eat high protein foods like beans and nuts, and lots of salads.
I do not miss any of the junk I use to because my stomach talks back so it is not worth it. Plus losing weight has been a bonus.
Do some research on iodine and salt deficiency. I use a lot of both. Dr. David Brownstein has some great books on the topic.
There are so many good books out nowadays about eating gluten free. After a while it all becomes a habit and very doable.
Contact me if you want some more ideas.

Thanks! I will check out Dr. Brownstein’s work. The zucchini substitute for pasta is a neat idea. With the right kind of sauce she probably wouldn’t even have to shoot herself up with insulin before she ate it.

We also went gluten-free and all it involved was finding a good brand of sprouted bread (Ezekiel) and rice pasta (Tinkyada) so we could continue to enjoy those foods we were used to and not feel all woe is me deprived.

Getting a rice cooker made eating rice a LOT easier. (Now it’s the pasta we think, Is it worth the trouble? LOL) We cook up a pot full of brown rice and keep it in the fridge. Rice is good cold with fruit and it reheats beautifully, absorbing whatever flavors are in the pan.

I found a ceramic coated fry pan with a good balance (ECO brand), so I can still warm up foods for myself. My hands are very weak. I could no longer manage the cast iron fry pan and we tossed the Teflon pans when we learned they are dangerous when overheated. Dearest and I are both air-heads who can’t be trusted not to leave a pot on the stove until it sets off the smoke alarms.

We’ve also been getting Dr. Josh Axe’s emails and Dearest borrows Dr. Axe DVDs from his chiropractor, who also holds healthy eating classes. We decided to be real slow and steady about this, so we wouldn’t just do the two weeks burst and bust thing. We pick one thing to change at a time and don’t do another until the old one feels comfortable and good.

One of the easiest things Dr. Axe teaches is to read ingredient labels and try to eliminate brands that have ingredients that aren’t real food. Like, if you can’t pronounce it, your body may not like it either. Like the gluten-free, this has meant more changing brands than changing food.

And the more real food brands we eat and the more we substitute fresh for processed, the better we feel and the more we enjoy eating. It’s actually gotten FUN. And we’ve both lost weight painlessly.

Corporal K got a juicer recently and is raving about how great she feels. We’re thinking this might be our next big step. But probably not before next winter. We need to fix the plumbing first.
