My bad!! I tried to hot up Pete’s URLs, realized half way through I was doing the videos wrong, then hit the way wrong button and now I can’t figure out what to do. The hot URLs shows up, the videos I messed up disappeared, the bottom half is the way he posted it with cold URLs and hot videos. I’m sorry!!!

Especially to the Human Events article on Libya. I hadn’t quite been up to speed on that. Occam’s Razor (or something) says, don’t attribute to conspiracy or malice what can be explained by mere incompetence or stupidity, but this seems to beg for explanation. I’ve already written my supposedly hard-core conservative Republican congressman, also wondered aloud in comments, why so many — including Bachmann and West — would vote against our engagement in Libya in principle but vote for it in dollars, and have seen no answers. Are they all so abysmally ignorant, or all in the tank together? And where is the screaming protest from the Constitutionalists?
Nice twist on the “Uncle Sam off the cliff” video. That actually is the same cliff they used in the anti-Ryan budget video. Pretty funny. And of course much more satisfying. Shameful waste of a good wheelchair, though. 🙂

Just one word of warning. The links on the list itself are good. The stuff at the bottom, below the article … it’s enticing BUT the links go to some weird, gross and potentially puter damaging sites.
I saw a couple things I wish I could unsee and my puter safety scanner gave me a heads up about an attempted attack.

Chrissy:I have a question.Since last Thursday when I went to post,the font was different and the tab to attatch images from my computer was missing.Here’s the strange part:I can post youtube and photobucket images by C&P ing the URL.There are a bunch of tabs for IMG,Italics and a bunch of symbols i don’t know anything about forgive the non-punctuation but the little blinking line that follows as you type disappeared for a little bit and I’m afraid of being frozen out.I can feel the Gremlins’ hot breath on the back of my neck.

I’m getting that disappearing line thing too. It is annoying! It helps to add a couple RETURNS then go back to where you were typing.
I’ve noticed several changes in WP recently. Not all ones I like much, but I guess they’re fiddling with their software.
I’m sorry I messed up the videos! You did them right.
As for hot linking. ARGH. I think the way WP does them is really dumb. If you put a link into a comment, it automatically goes hot. But if you put one in a blog post, you have to instruct it to go hot.
DUH. I mean … what’s that all about?? Seems to me “hot” should be default and if I don’t want it hot, I have to do something extra. Sheesh.
Anyway, I Denise or one of our other WP wizards said there’s an easier procedure, except I can’t remember what it is. The procedure I use works though.
1. C&P the URL where you want it, then highlight it.
2. Click the CHAIN icon and C&P the URL into the box where http appears. When you okay that, the link will go hot.
3. One of my Preview tasks is to hover my cursor over all the links. If they’re hot, it changes shape. If I’m not certain I got the URL right, I click on it to make sure it goes where I intended.
I’m going to try fixing what I messed up. When I logged off for a snack, I saw a screen I didn’t realize had opened and I think I know now why I thought I had been bounced into Word Press hell.

Oh yeah. It’s doing THAT annoying piece of nonsense on my screen too. It looks at first like your comment didn’t post, then you realize you have to delete the old one before you can type a new one. ARGH.

I’m glad you mentioned the different font. I just realized why your links haven’t been working the last few days. When you open the post editor, you need to make sure it’s in Visual mode, rather than HTML mode. It used to default to Visual mode and WP Help says that it still does, but when I tried to start a new post just now, it opened in HTML mode. Also, when I fixed your links the other day, it had opened in HTML mode.
To change to Visual mode, look for the tab in the upper right of the text editing box. That should bring back all of your missing buttons and your links should start working again. Hopefully, they’ll fix this soon, ’cause I think most people prefer to post in Visual mode.

Then immediately re-enable the visual editor (Don’t forget to hit SAVE after you check/uncheck the box). Hopefully, the next time you add a post, it will default to Visual mode.

Helpful Household Tips from Chrissy the Stupid
1. If the Superglue tip is glued shut, unclog it with a pin. Do NOT (repeat NOT) squeeze the tube with pliers.
2. Should you forget Helpful Tip #1, do NOT (repeat NOT) wipe the ensuing FLOOD of Superglue that comes through the split tube off your fingers with Kleenex.
3. Should you forget Helpful Tip #2, hope you have plenty of essential oil of orange on hand, because it works quite nicely to remove Superglue (and Kleenex) without doing damage to the underlying tissue.
Orange oil also has the beneficial added effect of calming your frazzled nerves, thus lowering the tendency to do further frustration-related damage to extremities and nearby doors and walls.
(Thank God it was just on sale last week, so I bought 3 bottles!)
4. Should you be allergic to Superglue and, while in the process of Very Carefully Using Superglue in a highly ventilated area with a mask on even … and still manage to expose yourself to massive quantities because you were stupid and got out the pliers … follow orange oil with large dose of Vitamin C.
5. A small glass of wine may also be in order.
6. Also, whine to your PoliNation buds, because misery loves company.
