My 2000th Post!

The incoherent rants concocted by this reporter began in February of 2011. Since then there has been an unbroken string of nonsensical claptrap with no redeeming moral or social value flowing from this keyboard. I plan to continue annoying everybody around here for a while yet, but as granny always said: ‘never say never.’

Trump Forgets to Sign Order; Pence Chases Him Down

Uh oh. Let’s invoke the 25th Amendment!

KOFFLER WAS JOKING…THE DEMOCRATS WEREN’T
CNN, MSNBC Speculate on Removing Trump From Office Via 25th Amendment
She related the dreams of Democrats: “It lays out the path for removal of the president in cases of inability. And that’s a term that has never been defined or suggested. So here’s what exactly would need to happen to set the 25th Amendment in motion.”
Schneider proceeded to tell viewers that the vice president and a majority of the cabinet would have to tell Congress the President is “unable” to discharge his duties. From there, the plan would eventually move to Congress.
Schneider allowed, “Really what it comes down to is that a majority of Republicans in the cabinet and the Congress, they would have to openly reject the President and begin a movement to oust him.”

Obama, Holder Group Push $250,000 More Into Virginia Gov Race
Obama-backed group has now put $750,000 into effort to elect Democratic candidate Ralph Northam
The National Democratic Redistricting Foundation—a foundation associated with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), a Washington, D.C.-based organization focused on redistricting efforts chaired by former Attorney General Eric Holder—donated $250,000 to the Virginia Democratic Party on October 11, Virginia campaign finance filings show.

New York, California threaten to sue over health-care subsidies
Attorneys general from California and New York say they are prepared to sue the Trump administration to protect health-care subsides that the White House said would be cut off.
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D) said in a statement that hundreds of thousands of New York families rely on ObamaCare’s subsidies for their health care.
“Again and again, President Trump has threatened to cut off these subsidies to undermine our healthcare system and force Congress to the negotiating table,” he said in the statement. “That’s unacceptable.”

Trump’s tax reform is teetering. Will McCain, Collins and Paul thwart him again?
McCAIN GETS A PERVERSE THRILL OUT OF BEING A DICK
Grassroots Republicans have no idea how close the GOP is to another profoundly disappointing policy collapse in Washington: failing to enact tax reform. Once again, the Republican Party finds its ability to fulfill a longstanding campaign promise in the hands of three senators: Rand Paul of Kentucky, John McCain of Arizona and Susan Collins of Maine.

The Senate Finally Listens: Removes Major Obstacle to Conservative Judges

Rather than simply gathering input from the home state Senators, the Senate would not confirm—or even consider–any nominee unless they were first approved by the Senators from the nominee’s own state, regardless of political party. This gave one Senator a veto over the entire democratic process.
Now the left is misusing this old informational courtesy as a means to block any conservative judge, no matter how well qualified.

Chief Justice Roberts urged to punish Gorsuch over address at conservative gathering
I SEEM TO RECALL KAGAN AND GINSBERG NOT RECUSING THEMSELVES ON THE GAY MARRIAGE DECISION AFTER THEY CONDUCTED GAY WEDDINGS. BUT THAT’S DIFFERENT. THEY’RE DEMOCRATS.
Free Speech For People, a non-profit progressive organization, sent an open letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Gorsuch for giving a speech at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. last month, saying it violated the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges.

Eminem Releases Explicit Anti-Trump Song
Rapper Eminem released a blistering anti-Trump freestyle rap on Tuesday night during the BET Hip-Hop Awards. In a pre-taped video, Eminem rapped about how he hates President Donald Trump, supports people who protest anthems, and how he wants his Trump-supporting fans to pick between either their love of Eminem or their love of Trump.

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly set the record straight, telling reporters at the White House briefing Thursday that contrary to some reports, he is not quitting his job, nor is he getting fired.
“Although I read it all the time pretty consistently, I’m not quitting today. I don’t believe – and I just talked to the president – I don’t think I’m being fired today, and I’m not so frustrated in this job that I’m thinking of leaving,” Kelly said.

First Monday in October: New Supreme Court term begins
The Supreme Court is starting its new year, with Justice Neil Gorsuch on board for his first full term.
The nine justices are taking up several high-profile, difficult cases. This follows a term in which they were mostly shorthanded after Justice Antonin Scalia’s death, and the justices avoided controversial issues.

The Left Hates You. Act Accordingly
Leftists don’t merely disagree with you. They don’t merely feel you are misguided. They don’t think you are merely wrong. They hate you. They want you enslaved and obedient, if not dead. Once you get that, everything that is happening now will make sense. And you will understand what you need to be ready to do.

How the Democrats Set Up Puerto Rico for Disaster
What New Orleans, Houston and Puerto Rico have in common.
We’ve seen this show before.
When there’s a national disaster, neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble, shelters are filled with crying families, and a Republican is in the White House, the Democrats jump into action.
Not to help, but to make political capital from a disaster that they helped cause.
After Hurricane Katrina, the media shrieked that survivors inside the New Orleans Superdome were murdering each other. But there actually wasn’t a single murder in the Superdome. And no, NBC’s Brian Williams never saw any corpses floating past the Ritz-Carlton. The media exaggerated and lied.

Carr: Left cries 1st Amendment only when convenient
Specifically, George Soros et al. care about those useful idiots in shoulder pads whom they want to use in their unending attempts to overturn the results of the 2016 presidential election.

Hits and Misses

Which are hits and which are misses? That’s up to you to decide.
Opinion: Ginsburg gambled to stay and now she may lose her legacy
They gambled that Hillary would be choosing judges for the next 8 years. Quelle surprise!

The confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court represents a huge political victory for Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who gambled on blocking the nomination of Merrick Garland in the hopes of a GOP electoral victory.

It may also have been an equally huge loss for the of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who ignored increasing calls for her retirement during the Obama administration to avoid the prospect of the flipping of her seat from a liberal to a conservative member. That gamble — whatever calculation — could now cost a sweeping number of key cases hanging by a 5-4 margin, including much of the precedent built around Roe v. Wade, if not an outright overturning of that decision.

Texas voter ID law was designed to discriminate against minorities, judge rules
THE FIX WAS IN… CHECK THIS OUT
GUESS WHO PUT THIS LATINA ON THE BENCH IN 2011?

The latest ruling by U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos of Corpus Christi comes more than two years after she likened Texas’s voter ID rules, known as SB 14, to a “poll tax” meant to suppress minority voters. On Monday, she reaffirmed that conclusion after an appeals court asked her to reexamine her findings.

The Texas law requires voters to show one of seven forms of identification at the ballot box. The list includes concealed-handgun licenses but not college student IDs, and Texas was forced under court order last year to weaken the law for the November elections.

Doctor dragged off flight was convicted of trading drugs for sex
Dr. David Dao, 69, who was captured in a now-viral video being forcibly dragged off the Louisville-bound flight at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport on Sunday, was working as a doctor specializing in pulmonary disease in Elizabethtown when he was convicted of trading prescription drugs for sexual favors.
The board’s probe into the criminal charges found that Dao became sexually interested in a male patient, Brian Case, whom he gave a physical examination to, including a genital examination, and whom he eventually made his office manager.
The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure permitted Dao to continue practicing medicine in 2015 under certain conditions, after he completed his probation and underwent psychological evaluations, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported.

Gorsuch Will Make a Difference

Gorsuch will provide the Supreme Court with the crucial fifth vote needed to sustain the Constitution as written and to protect fundamental rights like religious freedom, free speech, and the right to bear arms.

SCOTUS and Constitution

The new Supreme Court justice will arrive in time to hear the April 19 oral arguments in Trinity Lutheran Church v. Pauley, which is a case of stark, blatant religious discrimination by the government.

Gorsuch will also influence which pending petitions SCOTUS will accept for appeal.

Among those pending is Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, an important case about an individual’s right to refuse to perform a service that violates his or her religious beliefs.

Two other important petitions — Husted v. A. Philip Randolph Institute and North Carolina v. North Carolina NAACP — involve voter ID and election integrity.

Neil Gorsuch should also provide the fifth vote needed to quash the judicial activism present in the injunctions against Trump’s travel ban orders.  The Constitution clearly gives POTUS the authority as commander-in-chief to protect the nation, something Obama did without any liberals freaking out about it.

Gorsuch confirmed 54-45

2017_04 Gorsuch and Reid

Three Democrats in the United States Senate — Joe Donnelly (Ind.), Heidi Heitcamp (N.D.) and Joe Manchin (W.V.) — joined with Republicans in voting to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

One Republican senator, Johnny Isakson (Ga.), did not vote because, as his office explained in a statement, he was “in Georgia today recovering from two back surgeries.”

Isakson made it clear that he supported Gorsuch and would have voted for him had he been in Washington today.

Enjoying a Little Nukie

2017_04 Gorsuch out of mainstream Dems say

From Stilton Jarlsberg:

History was made yesterday when, for the first time since our nation became a nation, Democrats filibustered an exemplary Supreme Court Nominee because – and we’ve got plenty of political scientists and analysts to back us up on this – they’re complete and total assholes.

The only way around this epic act of douchebaggery was for Senate Republicans to invoke the so-called “nuclear option,” which – disappointingly – did not require inviting Democrats to “a picnic and special surprise” in the remotest corner of Nevada while a gleeful Donald Trump punched their coordinates into his suitcase nuclear launch device.

Rather, it involved changing Senate rules to allow a Supreme Court nominee to be confirmed with a simple majority of 51 votes, rather than requiring the 60 votes which has traditionally been the standard. And under this rule, we should see standout nominee Judge Gorsuch confirmed for the Supreme Court sometime today.

We would say that the Democrats are losing their freaking minds over this, only that ship sailed a long time ago.

A History Lesson About Democrass Behavior

2017_03 Gorsuch filibuster

If you read nothing else about the Gorsuch confirmation battle, read this.

Democrats single-handedly and unilaterally introduced the concept of judicial filibusters against majority-supported nominees, then proceeded to unilaterally end it, all over the course of about a decade. They started the practice when they were in the minority, then blew it up when they were in the majority.

Republicans are not entirely blameless in these wars, as the GOP has inflamed tensions at various stages along the way, often through various forms of retaliation. But the broad-strokes record is clear:

  • The Democratic Party has been exclusively and repeatedly responsible for the biggest provocations, over the span of decades.
  • They have insisted upon an ever-changing set of standards under which they get their way, whether they are in or out of power.
  • They have sought to impose special restrictions on Republicans, shamelessly changing the rules of the game when the roles are reversed.

Modeling better behavior has not succeeded in shaming them. Targeted retaliation has not chastened them. They have increasingly approached these battles as zero-sum blood feuds, whereas Republicans have naively believed that honoring Senate traditions, with some turnabout sprinkled in, would dissuade their opponents from future provocations.

The Garland episode was an important turning point, when the GOP finally force-fed Democrats a taste of their own medicine; and boy, did they hate it.  And thus, a zero-sum fight, waged lopsidedly by one party for years, was at last fully engaged.

With their enraged base seething with blind fury, Democrats are now on the precipice of one final escalation. Democrats began and endlessly advanced this partisan war, but the time has come for Republicans to end it.

I need some GOOD news

I didn’t sleep well last night, so I’m being gentle with me today. 🙂

FACT PP 20 to 1

Democrat Senators Joe Manchin (WV) and Heidi Heitkamp (ND) have publicly pledged to vote for Neil Gorsuch. Both are up for reelection next year in states where Donald Trump won by massive margins.

The Senate has passed a pro-life bill that allows states to defund Planned Parenthood, effectually overturning the HHS rule enforced by the Obama administration that prevented states from blocking Title X funding to abortion providers.  Senator Johnny Isakson, Republican of Georgia, had been away for two back operations.  So critical was this vote that he got his doctor’s permission to make the trip to vote Aye.  RINOs Collins (ME) and Murkowski (AK) voted with the Democrats, leaving the vote at 50-50.  Vice President Mike Pence cast the deciding vote.

North Carolina’s GOP-led legislature repealed the “bathroom” law, after agreeing to a deal with Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper to strip away its language requiring people to use only public bathrooms that match their biological sex.  Basically, life in NC public jons goes back to where it was, with trannies who can pass using the bathroom of choice, while blocking the creeps.

President Donald Trump appointed Roger Severino to lead the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights (OCR).  Severino, a Harvard Law graduate, comes to HHS from the Heritage Foundation, where, according to his bio, he worked on religious freedom, marriage, and life issues and directed the DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society in the Institute for Family, Community, and Opportunity.

Former President Jimmy Carter said on the Laura Ingraham show: “I’ve signed a public letter calling for the Democratic Party at the next convention to espouse my position on abortion which is to minimize the need, requirement for abortion and limit it only to women whose life are in danger or who are pregnant as a result of rape or incest. I think if the Democratic Party would adopt that policy that would be acceptable to a lot of people who are now estranged from our party.”

This man’s ear was miraculously healed, thanks to the intercession of St. Katharine Drexel.  He relates, “I went into the hospital for an exploratory operation. The doctor told us that there were three bones in the ear that you needed to be able to hear, and two of mine in the right ear had been destroyed by the infection. He said I’d never hear in my right ear again.  A few days later, I told my mother that I could hear fine out of both my ears. The doctor gave me a hearing test and confirmed it.”  His healing was one of the miracles that led to Katharine’s canonization.

Life is unpredictable and doctors can be wrong!  Twenty-five years ago, Sandra Norman’s OB told her she should abort her unborn child.  They refused, but asked a priest to be at the hospital when their daughter was born so that she could be baptized. The grieving couple also picked out a coffin and dress for their daughter’s burial.  Their daughter Rachel now is 25 years old, has a college degree, and is engaged to be married. Though her inherited kidney disorder continues to be a struggle, she is glad to be alive.
