Colorado is going after Masterpiece Cakeshop’s Christian baker again, after Supreme Court said not toOn the same day the high court agreed to review the Masterpiece case, an attorney named Autumn Scardina called Phillips’ shop and asked him to create a cake celebrating a sex transition. Phillips declined to create the cake, given his religious conviction that sex is immutable, while offering to sell the caller other pre-made baked goods.

Creating a New Version of Leviticus to Support Gay Sex
What do you do when the biblical text is against your position, explicitly so? What do you do when not one single verse supports your viewpoint? It’s simple. You create new verses out of thin air. You rewrite the Bible to your liking. That’s exactly what biblical scholar Idan Dershowitz has done.
Dr. Dershowitz claims that, “Before Leviticus was composed, outright prohibitions against homosexual sex — whether between men or women — were practically unheard-of in the ancient world.” And he believes that Leviticus was “created gradually over a long period and includes the words of more than one writer.” Continue reading
I remember fondly my Scouting years in the early 60s. Soap Box Derby races,’polar bear campout’ where you freeze your hind quarters off for a patch, and selling popcorn and light bulbs door to door for a trip to the Northwoods. Now comes this:
Boy Scouts to provide condoms at upcoming World Jamboree
The 2019 World Scout Jamboree will be held in West Virginia from July 21 to Aug. 1. The theme is “Unlock a New World.”
AP has reported that the Boy Scouts have been for boys and young men only for more than 100 years.
But in early May, a new name was announced to reflect the decision to admit girls: Scouts BSA. The change will become effective in February 2019.
The guidelines require that host organizations, who in this case include the former Boy Scouts of America (now Scouts BSA), “… ensure that condoms are readily and easily accessible for all participants and IST [staff].”
A teen in Utah posted her prom photos on Twitter and set off a social media storm that highlighted how ridiculous the American Left has become.
When you bookmark a lot of links without posting it’s kind of like getting constipated. Sooner or later it has to be purged.
So much for tasteful language for the day.
This is a scattershot post, wandering all over, hoping to find something anybody may be interested in. (It sure as hell ain’t me.)
Schumer slammed for citing skin color in vote against white judicial nominee
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer faced a stern rebuke from congressional colleagues for citing skin color in voting against a white federal judge nominee earlier this week.
Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the Senate floor Wednesday that the nomination of Marvin Quattlebaum, a white lawyer who is a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in Greenville, S.C., “speaks to the overall lack of diversity in President Trump’s selections for the federal judiciary.”
San Diego State University offering course called ‘Trump: Impeachment, Removal, or Conviction?’
A description of the course says the focus will be on the two constitutional grounds for removing a president from office: “Impeachment and removal (25th Amendment),” KUSI News reported.
It will include lessons on possible charges of the independent counsel and the powers of the president. Students in the class will also learn about “presidential immunity from indictment, and grounds for impeachment, removal, or indictment.”
Texans break early voting record after more Dems get involved
I ALLUDED TO THIS IN THE PREVIOUS POST
Early voting in Texas’ largest 15 counties has hit an all-time high for a non-presidential election year ahead of congressional primaries in the state on Tuesday.
According to data posted on Saturday by the Texas secretary of state’s office, 885,574 Texans voted in the 11 days of early voting that ended Friday, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
That figure far surpasses the 592,153 Texans who voted early in 2014.
Early voting among Democrats surged this year, the Statesman reported. 465,245 Democrats cast their ballots early, compared to 420,329 Republicans. That represents a significant change from 2014, when only 226,730 Democrats voted early, compared to 65,423 Republicans.
Statue of Marion Barry, controversial former mayor, unveiled in Washington
THE INSCRIPTION SHOULD READ: “THE BITCH SET ME UP!”
To some in Washington, D.C., he was a “living legend” who advocated for the city’s poor. To others he was a controversial figure remembered for being re-elected mayor despite serving a prison sentence for possession of crack cocaine.
The move to honor Barry, who died at age 78 in 2014, may seem mystifying to non-Washingtonians. But among Barry’s supporters, the statue is an appropriate tribute to a legitimate D.C. icon — a man so popular and influential that he walked out of federal prison and immediately began winning elections again with one of the most improbable comebacks in American political history.
How A Pathetic Republican Party Is Allowing ‘The Resistance’ To Run The Score — And The GovernmentSenate Republicans are heading toward midterm elections with control of their chamber and the biggest advantage any majority party has had since 1790. Yet every week, the Democrats are allowed to work just 2.5 days before returning home to duke it out with their Republican challengers. That is, Mitch McConnell is allowing Democrats to hit the campaign trail hard while obstructing 139 of the president’s nominees
Executive governance is out of style. On Friday, while 26 Senate Democrats up for re-election went home to their states or elsewhere to speak and raise money with which to batter Republicans in November, 139 of the White House’s nominees languished in positions from undersecretary for arms control and international security affairs to director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center
GOP Rep: POTUS and His Family Are Being Put Through Hell For Winning an Election – There’s No Evidence They Committed Any Crime
Earlier this week, GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin sent a letter to AWOL Attorney General Jeff Sessions urging him to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate FISA abuses and how/why Hillary’s probe ended and Trump’s Russia probe began.
Zeldin’s letter came after Sessions told reporters he would have IG Horowitz investigate the FISA abuses. We need a special counsel; the Inspector General does not have prosecutorial power.
At the time of this publication, thirteen GOP Reps. have signed Zeldin’s letter.
On Sunday, Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) said from his Twitter account, “.@realDonaldTrump & family being investigated for winning election w/no evidence they committed any crime to win the election. Sick, crazy & wrong!”
Chicago community organizer blasts Obama: ‘He forgot the community got him where he is’
THEY DON’T REALIZE OBAMA HAS ALWAYS PLAYED THEM FOR THE USEFUL IDIOTS THEY ARE. EXCEPT FOR VALERIE JARRETT, OBAMA HAS TURNED HIS BACK ON EVERYONE WHO SACRIFICED TO HELP HIM GET AHEAD.
“The library is a great idea, but what about a community benefits agreement?” Taylor asked, referring to a contract between a developer and community organizations that requires investments in, or hiring from, a neighborhood where a project is built. “The first time investment comes to black communities, the first to get kicked out is low-income and working-class people. Why wouldn’t you sign a CBA to protect us?”
The Woman in the High Castle
WE DIDN’T DODGE A BULLET, WE DODGED AN ICBM
In a dystopian fantasy in The New York Times at the end of the year, the columnist Bret Stephens reminded us of the horror that might have been:
Tax cuts. Deregulation. More for the military; less for the United Nations. The Islamic State crushed in its heartland. Assad hit with cruise missiles. Troops to Afghanistan. Arms for Ukraine. A tougher approach to North Korea. Jerusalem recognized as Israel’s capital. The Iran deal decertified. Title IX kangaroo courts on campus condemned. Yes to Keystone. No to Paris. Wall Street roaring and consumer confidence high.
And, of course, Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court.
Thank God, as Stephens himself so forcefully predicted, Donald Trump was crushed in the November 2016 election and the nation was spared those and other right-wing depredations.
Instead, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in the landslide that everyone who was anyone predicted, was elected the 45th president of the United States and lost no time in fulfilling her campaign promises—and even going beyond what she had promised in many areas. […]
“Hate speech is not free speech,” Clinton argued in a rousing Oval Office speech, which is widely credited with inaugurating the lawsuit now before the Supreme Court to update the outmoded provisions of the First Amendment for the 21st Century. “Thomas Jefferson could not have foreseen Fox News, Breitbart, or Rush Limbaugh,” Clinton said, “and it’s pretty clear that our Founding Fathers and Mothers would not have countenanced the hurtful lies masquerading as news that such divisive outlets foster.”

Maxine Waters Promises Slavery Reparations For Blacks If Dems Take House In Midterm Elections
Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters said during an event in Selma, Alabama on Saturday that she would “be happy” to secure financial reparations for black Americans.
Waters said as long as Democrats win back the House in 2020 and are able to get a president who is friendly to their agenda, it would be “wonderful” to get reparations.
“I’d be happy to do that. That’s no problem,” Waters said when an event attendee pressed her to support reparations.
CNN’s Acosta Complains: ‘This Is the Third Briefing You’ve Not Taken a Question from CNN
YOU’D THINK AFTER A WHILE THEY’D GET THE HINT
Monday at the end of the White House press briefing, CNN’s chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta complained to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders that she has not taken a question from CNN recently.
As Sanders was leaving the press room Acosta said, “Sarah, this is the third briefing you’ve not taken a question from CNN. Do you expect the Justice Department to enforce all subpoenas, Sarah?”
Florida Senate passes bill to put restrictions on gun sales
THERE WILL BE AN ALL-OUT ATTEMPT AT GUN CONFISCATION, WHICH WILL LEAD TO CIVIL UNREST AND GEORGE SOROS WILL MAKE BILLIONS OFF THE CARNAGE
The 20-18 vote came after three hours of often emotional debate. Support and opposition crossed party lines, and it was clear many of those who voted for the bill weren’t entirely happy with it.
“Do I think this bill goes far enough? No! No, I don’t!” said Democratic Sen. Lauren Book, who tearfully described visiting Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School after 17 people were fatally shot on Valentine’s Day.
Christian Bridal Shop Closes Down Over Fear of LGBT Law After Facing Death Threats
A Christian bridal shop in Pennsylvania that has faced death threats will shut its doors permanently due to the strong likelihood that a local town council will pass a law banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
W.W. Bridal in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, which made headlines in 2014 and again in 2017 because of the Christian owners’ refusal to sell wedding dresses to same-sex couples, has announced that it will close down officially on March 30.
Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran Announces Resignation, Will Depart April 1
THIS WALKING CADAVER WOULD NEVER BEEN RE-ELECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE, BUT FOR THE TAMPERING BY McCONNELL BUYING VOTES TO HELP HIM DEFEAT CHRIS McDANIEL
While he survived a brutal and controversial Senate primary in 2014, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, citing his failing health, is resigning effective April 1. A special election will be held to finish the remainder of his term that ends in 2020. If no one gets above 50 percent, a runoff will be held. For now, Gov. Phil Bryant will appoint an interim senator to fill the vacancy until the election. Cochran’s colleague, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MI), is up for re-election this year and is facing a challenge by state Sen. Chris McDaniel. McDaniel challenged Cochran in 2014
Mike Espy to run for Thad Cochran’s Senate seat
Espy became Assistant State Attorney General from 1984 to 1985, when he was elected as a Democrat to the 100th Congress in 1986 from Mississippi’s 2nd congressional district.
He defeated two-term Republican Webb Franklin to become the first African-American to represent Mississippi at the federal level since Reconstruction.
He was reelected three times.
Just 20 days after taking office for his fourth term, Espy resigned after being appointed Secretary of Agriculture in the Cabinet of President Bill Clinton. He served as Secretary of Agriculture in 1993–94.
The Silicon Valley elite’s latest status symbol: Chickens
Their pampered birds wear diapers and have personal chefs — but lay the finest eggs tech money can buy
AS AN OLD FARM BOY, I AM VERY WELL AWARE OF THE NUANCES OF THE RAISING OF POULTRY.
I JUST HAD TO POST THIS TO SHOW YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE ABOUT HOW LOONEY CALIFORNY HAS BECOME.
In America’s rural and working-class areas, keeping chickens has long been a thrifty way to provide fresh eggs. In recent years, the practice has emerged as an unlikely badge of urban modishness. But in the Bay Area — where the nation’s preeminent local food movement overlaps with the nation’s tech elite — egg-laying chickens are now a trendy, eco-conscious humblebrag on par with driving a Tesla.
In true Silicon Valley fashion, chicken owners approach their birds as any savvy venture capitalist might: By throwing lots of money at a promising flock (spending as much as $20,000 for high-tech coops). By charting their productivity (number and color of eggs). And by finding new ways to optimize their birds’ happiness — as well as their own.
They are selecting for desirable personality traits (such as being affectionate and calm — the lap chickens that are gentle enough for a child to cuddle), rarity, beauty and the ability to produce highly coveted, colored eggs.
All of it happens in cutting-edge coops, with exorbitant veterinarian bills and a steady diet of organic salmon, watermelon and steak.
I’M TIRED NOW
“For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.” Hosea 7:8
The following is excerpted from Andrew Klavan:
The Left defends gangstas and “transgressive” art and antifa thugs.
But when the shooting starts, they blame guns.
The Left sneers at feminine modesty and masculine protectiveness and all social restrictions on sex.
But when sexual harassment, abuse, and rape rise to the surface, they blame “toxic manhood.”
The Left wants us to reel in shock that Donald Trump used to be a playboy who chased women.
But they defended the infidelities and possible rapes committed by Governor, then-President Bill Clinton.
Perhaps they should have listened to the Catholic apologist G.K. Chesterton, who wrote about the difference between reforming society and deforming it — a passage that was neatly paraphrased by John F. Kennedy:
The Left wants to legitimize disrespect for the flag and for Christianity. They want to ignore the rule of law at the border and silence protests against Islamic ideas that are antithetical to every good thing the West stands for.
They should look to Europe where all these things have been accomplished.
- When European women are molested in the public square, European leaders advise them to behave more modestly lest immigrants get the wrong idea.
- When Islamic knives come out and Islamic bombs go off, European police rush to harass those who question the dictates of the Koran.
The degradation of our culture is almost entirely a leftist achievement. Over the last fifty years, it’s the Left that has assaulted every moral norm and disdained every religious and cultural restraint.
They own the whirlwind. If they don’t like the results and want someone or something to blame, they should look in a mirror.
From Piers Morgan:
In the new wave of modern feminism, the list of contenders for the coveted title of Chief PC Plonker is long and distinguished.
But now a clear winner has emerged in the form of Justin Trudeau, the handsome young politician who is photographed topless far too often for it to be an accident.
During a Q&A at MacEwan University in Edmonton, he announced that “mankind” is no longer acceptable.
A young woman from the World Mission of God, a non-denominational church guided by the ideals of ‘God the Mother’, stood up to ask him a question.
‘We came here today,’ she began, ‘to ask you to look into the policies that religious charitable organisations have in our legislation so it can also be changed because maternal love is the love that’s going to change the future of mankind….’
On hearing that last word, Trudeau recoiled like he’d been shot by a crossbow and instantly raised his left arm in indignant angst.
‘We like to see ‘peoplekind’,’ he declared, rudely interrupting the woman and flapping the same arm around aggressively.
The women in the audience mostly erupted with cheers and applause.
The men in the audience mostly just sat silently, looking bemused.
Continuing my unbroken string of useless, inane, and pointless regurgitation of news of no particular import.
Waters’ Campaign Wrote Off Over $10,000 Spent on ‘Hamilton’ Tickets as Fundraising
44 years … 44 long years she’s been getting away with this because her voters only care that she’s black.
[CtH: Methinks the real power behind her throne (Soros et al.?) only care that she’s greedy and stupid and easy to control.]
The House campaign committee Citizens for Waters paid $10,747.15 for the tickets for the popular Broadway show on Aug. 26, according to a Federal Election Commission report of receipts and disbursements.
Ahead of Halloween, universities nationwide tell students what not to wear
“Unacceptable costumes” listed on a University of St. Thomas diversity flier are “wearing Native American headdresses, dressing up as a ‘Mexican’ by wearing a sombrero, dressing as a ‘geisha,’ any form of blackface.”
“Cultural appropriation is defined as ‘the act of taking intellectual and cultural expressions from a culture that is not your own, without showing that you understand or respect the culture,’” explains a University of St. Thomas diversity memo to students.
[CtH: They’re very, very selective about whose culture is inviolable, so I’m guessing they don’t have anything in there about dressing up as an Irish leprechaun, an Italian mobster, a German Nazi, etc. etc. ]
George Lopez Booed For Anti-Trump Jokes At Charity Event
According to a person at the event, the CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei, asked Lopez “nicely to stop making Trump jokes … George doesn’t, continues, gets booed.”
“Thank you for changing my opinion on old white men, but that doesn’t change the way I feel about orange men,” Lopez responded to the request.
HE WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO LAND A HIT TV SHOW. NOW HE LOVES RUBBING ANGLOS’ NOSES IN IT.
Video posted Saturday on YouTube shows the comedian apologizing for “bringing politics to an event.” Then slams the audience for their “white privilege.”
“Listen, it’s about the kids,” he added. “I apologize for bringing politics to an event. This is America–it still is. So I apologize to your white privilege, but yes I’m sorry. If I was a minority in Denver I would be upset too.”
HE WAS PAID $275,000 FOR HIS APPEARANCE AT THIS CHARITY EVENT.
[CtH: “White privilege” now means having the sacred right to shut up while your “betters” bully you. Gee, thanks, SJWs! It’s just what I always wanted! Not.]
McCain makes speech blasting ‘half-baked’ nationalism
PLEASE GET THE HELL OFF THE STAGE… WE’RE SICK OF YOU.
The former POW and Arizona Republican called the United States “the last best hope on earth” while giving an acceptance speech for the National Constitution Center’s Liberty Medal, according to Politico.
While not mentioning President Trump by name, McCain’s speech was a sharp contrast to Trump’s habits of shunning international institutions such as NATO and the United Nations.
THE AWARD WAS PRESENTED BY HIS CLOSE PERSONAL JERKOFF BUDDY, JOE BIDEN.
[CtH: If half of what his fellow POWs say about him is true, then he’d know ALL ABOUT half-baked patriotism.]
Four GOP Senators Standing in the Way of Progress
COLLINS DECIDED TO STAY IN THE SENATE AND HELP McCAIN SCREW OVER THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
Four Republican senators hold and have held our country in their hands for most of this year by themselves. They obstruct progress by wielding far too much power than their positions and number merit. They are Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and John McCain of Arizona.
These four prevented healthcare reform and they now stand in the way of tax reform.
Brigitte Gabriel: ‘Refugee Resettlement’ is ‘About Supplying Cheap Labor’ at U.S. Taxpayer Expense
“Here’s what I mean by that: Most refugees are on some type of welfare and that makes anyone who employs them, any company that employs them, eligible for the federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit. An employer has a greater incentive to hire a refugee because the salary is subsidized by the government, than hiring a good, hard-working American who is looking for a job.”
Seriously? Hillary Clinton Says She Was “Running Down Stairs in Heels With Cup of Coffee” When She Broke Toe
Hillary Clinton canceled her interview with the BBC today. She said, “I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand, I was talking over my shoulder and my heel caught and I fell backwards. I tried to get up and it really hurt. I’ve broken my toe. I’ve received excellent care from your excellent health service.”
Seriously? Does anyone believe that?
Judge REFUSES to dismiss, says Menendez case going to JURY TRIAL!
DON’T EXPECT TO HEAR A WORD OF THIS FROM THE LSM.
After raising U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez’s hopes last week, a federal judge crushed them on Monday morning.
U.S. District Court Judge William Walls refused to toss any of the 18 charges in the corruption case against U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, despite last week casting doubt on a legal theory that’s at the heart of the prosecution’s case.
Deal for Bowe Bergdahl looks worse and worse
To garner sympathy from the sentencing judge, Bergdahl’s defense team is expected to play up his alleged mental health problems, including what they claim is paranoia and schizophrenia.
However, Army shrinks found Bergdahl does not suffer from psychological problems that would prevent him from standing trial. And last month, Bergdahl’s lawyers failed to produce for prosecutors mental health records and other evidence detailing any serious condition.
[CtH: SUCH a SHAME that his conviction will come too late for BHO to pardon him. NOT.]
President Trump to Hillary Clinton: “Hillary, Please Run Again,” In 2020
EPA Chief Scott Pruitt Ends ‘Abusive’ Obama ‘Sue & Settle’ Policy
Under previous administrations, particularly the Obama administration, special interest environmental groups such as the Sierra Club used lawsuits to force the EPA and other federal agencies to issue regulations that advance their climate change agenda. Those groups would sue the EPA and ask the court to compel the agency to enact new environmental regulations.
Critics say the “sue and settle” policy amounts to regulation through litigation, which allowed former EPA administrations to skirt around the agency’s limited rulemaking authority.
CHARLIE GARD: Charlie Gard’s parents were unable to use the £1.3 million (about $1.5 million USD) they raised to transfer Charlie to the U.S. for experimental treatment. They’ve decided to start a Charlie Gard Foundation to help families in similar circumstances.
TRANNIES IN THE MILITARY: President Trump could save American taxpayers nearly $2 billion if he follows through on his plan to ban military service for severely gender-confused (“transgender”) individuals.
That is the estimate for the cost of the “transgender” military policy begun under Obama, accordign to a paper by Family Research Council.
CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME: Researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine have linked chronic fatigue syndrome to variations in 17 immune-system signaling proteins, or cytokines, whose concentrations in the blood correlate with the disease’s severity.
The findings provide evidence that inflammation is a powerful driver of this mysterious condition, whose underpinnings have eluded researchers for 35 years.
“There’s been a great deal of controversy and confusion surrounding ME/CFS — even whether it is an actual disease,” said Davis. “Our findings show clearly that it’s an inflammatory disease and provide a solid basis for a diagnostic blood test.”
FAKE NEWS: The story of a nun who received Vatican permission to witness a Catholic marriage in a remote Canadian diocese with few priests has seized international attention — the implication being it may portend a new role for women in the Church. But the situation is far from unprecedented and is allowed under canon law.
I’LL POST MORE “INTERESTING BUT TOO BRIEF FOR A WHOLE BLOG” BELOW IN COMMENTS IF I FIND ANY MORE TODAY.
A survey that asked, “Have you ever been a member of the armed forces?” received 6,546 “valid responses.” From that, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality inexplicably concluded that “approximately 15,500 transgender individuals are serving on active duty or in the Guard or Reserve forces.” IOW, 1.2 percent.
Another study, one that was sponsored by the military, estimated that “the number of transgender individuals currently serving in the active component of the U.S. military at between 1,320 and 6,630 out of a total of about 1.3 million service members.” IOW, between 0.1 and 0.5 percent.
The first number makes no sense, given that the estimated trans population in America is only around 0.3 percent.
I’m inclined to believe in the lowest end of the estimates. For one thing, the highest figure for active duty was inappropriately extrapolated from a sample that included any past service. For another, I just find it difficult to believe that the average transsexual would want the military life.
