Bits & Bytes

BEN & JERRY’S: On Monday, Ben & Jerry announced it would put the freeze on selling ice cream in “the Occupied Palestinian Territory” (aka, the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip in Israel). Ben & Jerry’s is owned by Unilever, but maintains board control over its social mission and policies.

BORDER: More than three hundred illegal aliens gathered at and were allowed to pass through the Del Rio border gate on Monday. A large majority were military-aged males. One border patrol agent said it is the biggest single group he’s ever seen in Del Rio.

Democrats won’t be happy until the U.S.A. is as big a crap hole as Cuba.

CATHOLIC: Pope St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI encouraged use of the Latin form of the Mass; Pope Francis recently issued a directive drastically limiting its use.

Stressing that the current pontiff’s directive can be “modified again by any future pope,” Cardinal Gerhard Müller said it failed to make a good case for the new restrictions. He also noted that he found it to be mean-spirited. “Instead of appreciating the smell of the sheep, the shepherd here hits them hard with his crook.”

Pope Francis really appears to have a special animus toward the most traditional, politically conservative, and devout of Catholics. Since assuming office, he has sneered at large families, saying that while birth control is wrong, people don’t have to “breed like rabbits.” He insists that man-made climate change is a sin against the Earth and that we all have a moral obligation to jump on the Green New Deal wagon. He has said that Muslims worship the same God as Christians and that “the diversity of religions” is “willed by God in His wisdom.” He keeps a painting of a nude Jesus ministering to Judas in Hell behind his desk and, last month, sent a handwritten note to dissident priest James Martin encouraging him in his LBTGQ ministry.

In the recent uproar over whether or not pro-abortion Democrat pols should be denied communion, he came out on the side of the Democrats. Because tolerance or something. So where’s the tolerance for all the actually devout Catholics who enjoy the solemn reverence of the Latin Mass?

COVID-19: Click the links to read about the overwhelming volume of research showing the value of optimizing your vitamin D levels in the prevention and treatment of the coronavirus.

Nearly half of all Americans are deficient. People over age 65 are especially prone to vitamin D deficiency and these are also the people at highest risk for serious complications from the coronavirus. Hmm …

Your doctor can order a blood test to check your level, but you’ll probably have to ask for it. In my experience, it hasn’t been routinely included in a standard blood panel. Supplementing is inexpensive, but deciding how much to take can be tricky, so best to know your level and talk it over with your physician.

N.b., your body’s ability to absorb vitamin D is greatly increased if you take it with high-fat foods. For many people, this means dinner time.

ELITISM: In 20 major U.S. cities, Democrats mayors and city officials cut police budgets, while allocating millions of taxpayer dollars for their own personal protection details.

FAUCI: CLICK https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2964348853830581&notif_id=1626817487119903 [6:39] to hear Republican Senator Rand Paul grill Dr. Anthony Fauci on Tuesday morning. After laying out how Fauci’s NIH funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Lab, Paul asked if Fauci had lied to Congress when he said the NIH never funded gain-of-function research.

In response, Fauci got so angry his hands were shaking. But his actual reply had nothing whatsoever to do with Paul’s question. Shorter Paul: You told us you didn’t fund gain-of-function research. This study shows you did. Shorter Fauci: That study has nothing to do with COVID-19!

Fauci didn’t just lie to Congress. He also broke the law. Between October 2014 and December 2017, the U.S. government had a ban on using tax moneys to fund experiments to deliberately make influenza, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) pathogens more transmissible and/or more deadly. The SARS gain-of-function research done by the Wuhan lab in China that Sen. Paul cites was funded in part with U.S. tax dollars funneled in 2015 from the agency Fauci runs.

TUCKER CARLSON: Definitely CLICK https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=345902573867106&notif_id=1626796487230202 [11:01] to hear Tucker do some peak satire about the Texas Pilgrims … six of whom have now tested positive despite being fully vaxxed.

Then Tucker gets serious about the vaccine. He shows a clip of a Brit admitting that a large percentage of hospitalized COVID patients were fully vaccinated, after which he plays clips of American pols and media shills telling us the exact opposite.

Peak Irony: Under Tucker’s report at FB is a Fake Check that says, “COVID-19 vaccines go through many tests for safety and effectiveness and are then monitored closely. Source: World Health Organization.
