COVID-19: [2:54] – My area reopens for Phase One today. I dunno why I feel so relieved. I’ve been home bound by MCS for 30 years. Things like wearing a mask when I leave the house or open the mail are very old hat for me. Maybe it’s knowing there would be no place to go even if I was having one of my rare good days.
H.R. 6666: The TRACE Act is formally called “COVID–19 Testing, Reaching, And Contacting Everyone” and, sadly, it is NOT satire!
The bill would authorize the Health and Human Services department to give out $100 billion dollars for fiscal year 2020 (plus an unlimited amount for 2021 and any subsequent fiscal year during which the emergency period continues) “to eligible entities to conduct diagnostic testing for COVID–19, and related activities such as contact tracing, through mobile health units and, as necessary, at individuals’ residences, and for other purposes.”
IOW, give a crap load of money and all the authority they need to who-knows-who to track our movements allegedly for our own good (to identify COVID-19 contactees). But catch the ending. It could also be used “FOR OTHER PURPOSES.”
Ventura County, California, is trying this out already. Dr. Robert Levin, the director of Ventura County Public Health, said the county would be hiring large numbers of contact tracers and isolating every one of the people who test positive for COVID, and find every one of their contacts and make sure they were quarantined and check on them every day, perhaps even remove them from their homes.
How tough would it be for this to be turned to personal or political evil?
Hmmmmmmm … let me think?!
CDC: Dr. Birx believes the CDC is inflating death numbers by as much as 25% [5:05] – Inflating the death count? I’ve seen stuff about this, but it mostly struck me as conspiracy theory stuff fueled by pandemic anxiety. Even if it was happening, I just didn’t think it could possibly be that big of a deal.
But 25%?! What the hey!!!! Why would scientists ever do such a thing?
Maybe because they’re hyper-political lefties who want to justify legal abominations like the TRACE Act?
MEDIA MALPRACTICE: Moving on from Leftist scientific malpractice … CNN had Greta Thunberg on a panel alongside former President Barack Obama officials for its “Coronavirus – Facts and Fears” townhall.
Uhhhhhhhhhhh … she’s a high school drop-out who has made a career out of scolding people for using fossil fuels. Now she’s an Expert On The Wuhan Flu?
Tell me, again, Lefties, how we’re the Science Deniers. ::smh::
FLORIDA: Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-FL, invited sports teams to play in Florida if their state and local governments prevent them from playing.
“If you have a team in an area where they just won’t let them operate, we’ll find a place for you here in the state of Florida. Because we think it’s important and we know that it can be done safely. Our people are starved to have some of this back in their lives. It’s an important part of people’s lives.”
GEORGIA: Despite easing lockdown restrictions and allowing some businesses to reopen much earlier than most areas, Georgia is showing steady drops in both new confirmed cases of the CCP virus and in seven-day moving averages.
“Subject to specific social distancing and sanitation mandates”, Governor Kemp’s reopening scheduled allowed gyms, fitness centers, bowling alleys, body art studios, barbers, cosmetologists, hair designers, nail care artists, estheticians, their respective schools, and massage therapists to fully reopen on April 24 and theaters, private social clubs, and restaurant dine-in services to open on April 27.
ILLINOIS: Governor Pritzker’s orders restrict church meetings to 10 people only, regardless of the size of the sanctuary. On May 10, Pastor Cristian Ionescu ignored him and welcome 100 congregants to a service at Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church in Chicago.
The entire building was sanitized by a professional company ahead of opening and hand sanitizers, masks, and gloves were provided at the reception desk. Congregants sat three seats away from each other, and every other row was empty.
MICHIGAN: Karl Manke defied Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order and opened his barber shop — vowing to stay open “until Jesus comes.”
State officials went to court to stop him, but a judge declined the state’s request. So now state officials have suspended his barber license. Manke’s attorney Dave Kallman called the move “pure retribution.”
Mary Chastain at Legal Insurrection wrote, “I think people forget that salons and barbershops are sterile even without the risk of coronavirus. Manke even wore a mask, sanitized his tools with ultraviolet light, and followed basic common sense sanitary rules.
“I don’t need the governor to be my mother,” Manke told the Flint Journal. “I have one. God bless her, she’s gone now. I don’t need another mother. I can make these adult decisions myself.”
Dearest talked to our barber who told him she’d been warned that would happen here if she tried to open before the guidelines permit it.
Also in Michigan … Archbishop Allen Vigneron said public Masses in metro Detroit will resume on May 19.
PENNSYLVANIA: In February, Pennsylvania Health Secretary and Major Hypocrite, Dr. Rachel Levine, moved her own mom out of her personal care home, even as she was ordering such facilities to accept virus patients.
Outbreaks in Pennsylvania long-term care facilities make up 21% of the state’s positive cases and nearly 70% of the deaths.
It’s important to note that personal care homes are not even under Levine’s jurisdiction.
WISCONSIN: The state’s Supreme Court has struck down Gov. Tony Evers’ order shutting down daily life to limit the spread of coronavirus, marking the first time a statewide order of its kind has been knocked down by a court of last resort.
The ruling immediately lifts all restrictions on businesses and gatherings imposed by the administration’s order, but keeps in place the closure of schools until fall. It comes after Evers had already begun lifting some restrictions because the spread of the virus has slowed for now.
NEW ZEALAND: It looks like NZ is all ready for the Anti-Christ – The government of New Zealand has just passed a law that allows only 10 people to attend a religious service while allowing 100 people to gather in other public places such as restaurants, shopping centers, and movie theaters. The only exception is for funerals, when a maximum of 50 people may gather for no longer than two hours.
The legislation passed despite public outcry, interventions by some members of Parliament, a petition, and a joint effort of New Zealand Catholic and Anglican bishops.
MP Simon O’Connor said, “This is the most anti-democratic bill we’ve ever seen put before Parliament. The bill gives extraordinary powers — unheard of powers — to the Prime Minister.
“Basically, this bill allows one person in a democratic country the complete right to decide where you go, who you see, how you operate, when you open your business, whether you can go to church, (and) what sport you can play.
“It allows the police, the New Zealand police, to enter your home without warrant [based simply on] the suspicion that there might be too many of you gathered in your home. …
“The bill is morally wrong. It is legally wrong. It is democratically wrong.”
HYPOCRITES: Newsbusters reports that 95 Hollywood supporters of the #MeToo movement have decided to give Joe Biden a pass. Every single one of them smeared Brett Kavanaugh on social media, calling him an alcoholic and a liar who had committed sexual violence and deserved to have his man parts cut off.
I know I’ve reported on this before, but this Newsbusters story is worth noting, because it recounts the extremes to which these phonies went to support Christine Ford. These details highlight just how grotesque it is that, now the alleged perp is a dearly beloved Democrat, they’ve got crickets to say in support of Tara Reade.
DALEIDEN: Video is from October 11, 2019 [8:01] – David Daleiden – the guy responsible for outing Planned Parenthood’s illegal trafficking in dead baby body parts – has filed a lawsuit alleging that the California Department of Justice engaged in malicious prosecution.
“This complaint seeks justice for a brazen, unprecedented, and ongoing conspiracy to selectively use California’s video recording laws as a political weapon to silence disfavored speech.”
“David Daleiden became the first journalist ever to be criminally prosecuted under California’s recording law, not because of the method of video recording he utilized in his investigation — which is common in investigative journalism in this state — but because his investigation revealed and he published ‘shock[ing]’ content that California’s Attorney General and the private party co-conspirators wanted to cover up.”
GOOD NEWS: On Wednesday, State Assemblywoman Christy Smith (D) conceded the special election, flipping the U.S. congressional seat in the 25th district from D to R.
The new congressman is Republican Mike Garcia, a former Navy fighter pilot, who will serve out the rest of the term until November, when the seat will go up for election again.
The former representative, Katie Hill (D), won the seat in 2018, but had to resign in disgrace last fall after her skanky sexual relationships with staffers was revealed.
