MEDITATION: God has carefully, tenderly created every person in His own image and likeness, to be in a loving relationship with Himself. From each tiny child knit within a mother’s womb, to every person approaching death, we are loved, perfectly and completely, by God.

It is therefore a service of love which we are all committed to ensure to our neighbor, that his or her life may be always defended and promoted, especially when it is weak or threatened” – Pope Saint John Paul II, Evangelium vitae 77

ERA: Virginia officially became the 38th and final state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on Monday.

The constitutional amendment appears to be simple. It states that “equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.”

Pro-life leaders say the language could be used to end all abortion restrictions, even common-sense laws such as parental consent for minors and the partial-birth abortion ban. It also could force taxpayers to pay for abortions, something most Americans oppose.

Christian leaders say the language also threatens the religious liberty of churches that hold to traditional beliefs about gender, sexuality, and marriage.

The good news is that the deadline passed nearly 40 years ago, and court challenges already have been filed. Several other states also voted to ratify the amendment past the deadline, and still others voted to rescind their ratification votes.

2020_01 29 New York

NEW YORK CITY: At the beginning of the new year, the New York City government decided it would be a swell idea to eliminate bail.

They didn’t mean to keep all accused criminals off the streets until their trials, mind you; they wanted to let them all walk free (literally and monetarily) within mere hours of being apprehended.

The NYPD is not amused and reports that, as of Friday at midnight, robberies had jumped to 132.5%, car thefts to 161%, and burglaries to 118% over the same time period last year.

Left high and dry by the state’s new bail “reform” law, the NYPD was forced to ask the feds to help them round up the Big Apple’s six-time serial bank bandit so he wouldn’t walk free again to rob again.

Everyone with half a brain saw this rise in crime coming, which begs the question: What in the hell were the Democrats thinking to institute this insane policy in the first place?

Oh, wait. I forgot. Democrats don’t think. My bad.

SCOTUS: Immigration win – In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court voted to allow the Trump administration to begin enforcing new limits on immigrants who are considered likely to become overly dependent on government benefit programs.

In his opinion, Supreme Court justice Neil Gorsuch issued a stern rebuke to the activist judges who ignored the Constitution in placing an injunction on this policy in the first place.

The real problem here is the increasingly common practice of trial courts ordering relief that transcends the cases before them. Whether framed as injunctions of ‘nationwide,’ ‘universal,’ or ‘cosmic’ scope, these orders share the same basic flaw — they direct how the defendant must act toward persons who are not parties to the case.”

CHINA: China is building at least four corona virus hospitals in a desperate bid to curb the spread of the life-threatening disease. On January 22, the nation suspended plane, train and bus links to Wuhan, a city of 11 million people in central China where the virus was first detected last month.

Scientists following the outbreak fear the Chinese are grossly under-reporting the severity of the outbreak. Estimates of the number infected range from more than 100,000 to maybe as much as 300,000.

MARCH FOR LIFE: Shades of CovingtonOutside the Supreme Court, a female wearing red-stained white pants (ew) approached a female college student and aggressively moved into her personal space.

She got very close to me,” the student said. “I just kind of stood still. And then she told me, ‘Back up or I will f*****g slit your throat. … I swear to God. Back up. Back up. Back up.’”

The student said, “I was standing my ground to make a point. I think if you submit to their demands, they’re going to realize it works and keep doing that. And I wouldn’t want that to happen to somebody very new to doing pro-life work and be absolutely terrified.”

The student’s group leader called the police, who came and took Ms. Icky Pants away in handcuffs.

HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR: This photo of a Holocaust survivor holding his great-grandbaby has gone viral. The image is moving in and of itself. But my mouth fell open when I saw the number the Nazis had tattooed on him.

  • One symbolizes the unity, the primacy, and the oneness of God.
  • Seven is the number of completeness. It combines the number for God (3) with the number for His creation (4). God rested on the seventh day.
  • Three sevens (777) represent the Trinity.
  • Eight represents resurrection and new beginnings. Jesus rose on the 8th day. Where 7 represents the completion of the old creation, 8 represents the beginning of the new. And turned sideways, 8 is the symbol for infinity or eternity, which is what we look forward to when Jesus returns.

An important prophecy about the End Times required that the ancient nation of Israel be re-established. This came about in the aftermath of the Holocaust.

I’ve got goosebumps!

GRAMMY NOTES: We were out with our newborn when a young man approached for a peek.

“Wow!” he said. “A human being who has only been alive for 4 weeks!”

I laughed and said, “Oh she’s been alive a lot longer than four weeks!”

He sniffed and said, “Well, I don’t look at it that way.”
