THE DAN BONGINO SHOW: Episode 1093 [57:15] – (Oct 22, 2019) In this episode, Bongino addresses explosive new details emerging about the deep-state cover-up of the Spygate scandal. John Brennan and these politicians are panicking. This is a little dense, so you need to really listen. I’ve included some crib notes below to help you keep track of the players.
If I understand Bongino’s theory correctly, he believes that the fake Trump dossier was not an intelligence report by Christopher Steele, but a political hit job, that it was produced by Glenn Simpson and Nellie Ohr at Fusion GPS, and that it was paid for by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic Party.
Further, he posits that Obama’s CIA director, John Brennan, knowing exactly where the dossier came from, created a “parallel construction” (see below) to launder the dossier so Congress, the media, and the FBI could use it to take down Trump.
The Big Takeaway … “Everybody needs Steele to stick to the script that he was the one who generated the dossier.” If Steele says, “I didn’t write the dossier; Fusion GPS did,” the only conclusion is that Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party, and their Deep State cronies BOUGHT a FISA warrant to spy on Donald Trump’s campaign.
Dan says on the show that he covers all this stuff in detail in his new book, Exonerated. In particular, he says he presents a compelling chain of evidence showing that the famous dossier was NOT authored by Christopher Steele, but by Fusion GPS on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic Party.
James Comey: Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at the same time Brennan was Director of the CIA. He was responsible for overseeing the FBI’s investigation of the Hillary Clinton email controversy.
After Trump fired him in May 2017, he arranged for a friend to leak information to the press claiming Trump had asked him to end the FBI’s investigation into Michael Flynn.
The Mueller investigation found no evidence that Trump had interfered in the investigation. And while Inspector General Horowitz found that Comey had violated FBI policy regarding press leaks, Department of Justice (DOJ) declined to prosecute Comey, because his actions were not illegal.
John Clapper: Obama’s Director of National Intelligence from August 9, 2010 to January 20, 2017. He resigned as soon as Trump won the 2016 election.
John Brennan: Obama’s Assistant to the President for Homeland Security between 2009 and 2013. Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from March 2013 to January 2017. Currently, the senior national security and intelligence analyst for NBC News and MSNBC. He hates Trump.
Glenn Simpson: Former reporter who co-founded Fusion GPS. During the 2016 campaign, the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party hired Fusion GPS to do opposition research on Donald Trump.
In June 2016, Fusion GPS hired Christopher Steele, a former MI6 agent, to obtain information on Trump. After November 2016, funding from the Democratic Party ceased, and Simpson reportedly spent his own money to fund further work on the dossier.
Christopher Steele: MI6 (British intelligence) from 1987 until his retirement in 2009. Between 2006 and 2009, he ran the Russia desk at MI6 headquarters in London. He is alleged to be the author of the famous dossier that was used as justification to get FISA warrants to spy on Trump’s campaign.
Bruce and Nellie Ohr: A Department of Justice (DOJ) official who was the DOJ’s contact person for Christopher Steele. Bruce’s wife, Nellie worked for Fusion GPS during the 2016 campaign, doing the opposition research on Donald Trump that the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party financed.
Gang of Eight: A colloquial term for a set of eight leaders (four Democrats and four Republicans) within the United States Congress who are briefed on classified intelligence matters by the executive branch. Specifically, the Gang of Eight includes the top Democrat and Republican leaders from the Senate, the House of Representatives, and from the Senate and House Committees for intelligence.
Parallel Construction: Evidence laundering. Law enforcement officials develop parallel – i.e., separate – evidentiary basis for a criminal investigation in order to conceal how an investigation actually began.
E.g., a LEO who has obtained evidence illegally passes it on to another officer who then builds on it and gets it accepted by the court under the good-faith exception as applied to the second officer. “Your honor, I didn’t know this was fruit of the poisoned tree.”
IG HOROWITZ: June 2018 – Horowitz released the report on his investigation into FBI Director James B. Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email practices and whether Justice Department employees leaked information improperly during the run-up to the 2016 United States presidential election.
It concluded that Peter Strzok and other FBI employees “brought discredit to themselves” and to the agency. He found that Comey indulged in ad hoc decision-making and had not follow FBI procedures, but that he was not motivated by any political bias. (N.b., text messages between Strzok and his lover, Lisa Page, showed they absolutely were motivated by political bias.)
In March 2018, Horowitz began a new investigation into FBI’s and Justice Department’s filing of four FISA applications and renewals to surveil former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and whether or not there was an abuse of this FISA process.
Trey Gowdy on Fox News: July 10, 2019 [4:23] – AG Barr initially said the report would be done by May or early June. Then, in July, they said it wouldn’t come out until after Labor Day. Reportedly, the delay was the result of a two-day meeting the investigators had with Christopher Steele in person in London in early June.
The IG report is now expected to come out any day.
SPYGATE INVESTIGATION: Unsatisfied with official explanations about the origins of the investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russian government, Attorney General William Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to oversee an inquiry. John Brennan recently told NBC News that Durham’s investigators want to interview him and James Clapper. The interviews, should they occur, would signal that Durham is expanding his investigation.
JOSEPH MIFSUD: The Democrat’s backup plan – In April 2016, he told Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos in London that he had heard in Moscow that the Russians owned “dirt” on candidate Clinton in the form of “thousands of emails.” This conversation prompted the FBI to start the investigation in July 2016.
If Mifsud is a Russian agent, as the FBI contends, then it would add credence to why Trump’s people were investigated. BUT, if he is a Western agent, as Trump’s people suspect, then the Obama administration may have begun the probe fraudulently, based on planted evidence.
Bongino promises that today’s episode will go over the Mifsud angle.
