Chesterton: A soldier doesn’t go to war because he hates those in front of him, but because of those he left behind. niio, walk in beauty.

Soldiers “love” war the way fire fighters “love” fire and law officers “love” murder. They train to fight for the safety of others, but any day without having to is a good one.

If you’re ever stopped by a cop, a firefighter, or meet a solder heading to a tour of duty, tell them, “I hope you have a nice, boring day.” The response is a grin and “Thank you, amen.” niio

I have 2 daughters who have done 3 tours in the Middle East. For one of them, the report was, “I’m so bored, I’m taking an OSHA certification class.” I cheered!
