  1. Los Feliz – always frighteningly hilarious. And educational. I learned about “aperol.”

Funny thing. I’ve never watched a moment of GoT but by water-cooler conversation (online forum style) I have picked up enough to appreciate the Khaleesi one. “Last year in the US, 560 baby girls were named Khaleesi and eight were named Daenerys.” Oops.

Something to do with a dragon or something…

“Aperol is an Italian apéritif made of gentian, rhubarb, and cinchona, among other ingredients.”

Uhhhhhh … I know what rhubarb is.

      Gentian is an herb.

Cinchona – Any of several trees and shrubs of the genus Cinchona, native chiefly to the Andes and cultivated for bark that yields the medicinal alkaloids quinine and quinidine, which are used to treat malaria.

I don’t think I’m going to be running right out to try aperol any time soon.

I received an email from my organic food coop. Below the sender’s signature was her position on the staff and her preferred pronouns.

I’ve never watched Game of Thrones, but Wikipedia has come to my rescue. Daenerys/Khaleesi/Queen of Dragons does not sound like she would be a good fit at Los Feliz what with her being “capable of dealing ruthlessly with her enemies.”
