You can trust govt toon

PONDERING: Earlier this week, we met with a really nice guy about Medicare Advantage. I’ve seen ads for it, but always assumed it was additional private health insurance for people who have government-run Medicare coverage. Since we can’t afford more than we pay now, I ignored the ads.

But Phil explained that it’s not additional, but a substitute for Medicare — i.e., private health insurance for people who qualify for Medicare. The government requires all Medicare Advantage policies to at least meet Medicare coverage, though they can offer more and charge more if they want.

We chose a policy that will give us better coverage for the same money we pay now. When I asked him they could do that, he said, “Medicare is run by the government. These are private companies.” ‘Nuff said! LOL

Today, I learned that the Democrat super-majority nationalized student loans in 2010. Isn’t it interesting how 9 years after the government took over student loans, there’s a “student loan crisis”? I’m having flash backs to Fannie Mae and the “housing bubble crisis.”

TRUMP ON HEALTHCARE: Obamacare lies – Congressional Democrats lied to the American people about healthcare then; they’re prepared to do it again.

Today, self-proclaimed socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders proposed “Medicare for All” – a total government takeover of American healthcare. And he’s using the FAILURE OF OBAMACARE to justify it. IMO, this was the point of Obamacare from the start.

Here are the three things that every citizen should know about what socializing our entire healthcare system would do:

  1. End private insurance as we know it. The core of the Medicare-for-All scheme is to force nearly 180 million Americans with private health insurance onto government-run plans. Families would face the threat of losing their doctors and, indeed, any choice at all in their health care decisions.
  2. Seniors pay the price. America’s seniors have been paying their whole lives into a system that promised to take care of them in their old age. But as seen in European single-payer systems, “Medicare for all” will likely lead to less care for seniors and longer wait times. Twenty million Americans would lose their Medicare Advantage Plans.
  3. Cost $32 trillion. Who pays the exorbitant price tag? Working families. According to the Council of Economic Advisers, the tax increases would lower household incomes by $17,000 annually after taxes and healthcare expenditures.

The Trump Administration is working on realistic solutions to the mess Democrats shoved down our throats when they passed Obamacare in the dead of night and against the will of a majority of Americans. Their goal is to provide Americans with the options we want, the affordability we need, and the quality we deserve.

Modern Good Samaritan

AN MD WRITES: “How Central Planning Destroys Health Care Innovation” “One of the biggest problems with socialized systems is that government agents making decisions often have no knowledge of the industry they are regulating, and even when they do, they typically aren’t the customers.”

SPYING ON TRUMP CAMPAIGN: “I am going to be reviewing both the genesis and the conduct of intelligence activities directed at the Trump campaign during 2016. I think spying on a political campaign is a big deal,” said Attorney General Bill Barr before a Senate panel.

Dem leaders and the Left Stream Media went nuts, calling Barr a PR spinner who is abusing his office for political purposes. Rep. Nadler said Barr was playing a “shell game” in order to divert attention from “the real scandal.”

Gee, Democrats … PROJECT MUCH?!

Barr “wants to find out how the FBI came to eavesdrop on the 2016 Trump presidential campaign. All of this should be encouraging to Americans who want credibility restored to an FBI that lost its ethical bearings under James Comey.” – The Wall Street Journal, April 10, 2019 editorial

Greg Craig Obama

OBAMA-CLINTON LAWYER INDICTED: Greg Craig, 74, was indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday on charges stemming from Mueller’s probe related to work he did for Ukraine in 2012.

Craig, served as legal counsel for Obama from 2009 to 2010 and worked as senior legal counsel to Bill Clinton during his impeachment, is the first top Democrat to be indicted as a result of Mueller’s witch hunt.

WEAPONIZING THE TAX LAW: Weaponizing our nation’s tax code by targeting political foes sets a dangerous precedent and weakens Americans’ privacy rights. The snotty, snarky, nagging CNN interviewer clearly has an agenda. I’m glad Reed is on this committee! I don’t know he manages to stay calm when he’s being badgered like this.

COMPASSIONATE” DEMOCRATS: Pelosi’s House Democrats blocked a vote on the Born-Alive Bill for the 32d time. The goal of the legislation is to require that babies who survive abortion receive the same kind of medical and comfort care that they would receive if they were born prematurely. A born baby is no longer “part of the woman’s body” (not that it ever was, but still).

Last week, Republican Whip Steve Scalise and Representative Ann Wagner moved forward with a discharge petition to force Speaker Pelosi to schedule a vote. That’s a petition any member of Congress can sign to allow legislation to move out of committee and to the House floor when the party controlling Congress refuses to allow a vote on it. So far, 199 members have signed on, including three Democrats. They need 218 signatures to bypass Pelosi and force a vote.

Meanwhile, Democrat wanna-nominee Cory “Spartacus” Booker has sponsored a bill to end animal testing using kittens. Booker opposes protections for unborn humans and those that survive abortions.

Democrats spotted at a pro-abortion fundraiser included the usual CINOs like Nancy Pelosi, but also Sen. Bob Casey Jr., who has a reputation for being one of the few pro-life Democrats in Congress.

NY Post 9-11 something

SOME PEOPLE DID SOMETHING”: On March 23, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said that CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) “was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and [Muslims] were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”

“Some people did something? Wow. What a way to describe the heinous surprise attack on America that claimed 3,000 lives. … [Also] CAIR wasn’t founded post-9/11, but in 1994. And the feds later named it an unindicted co-conspirator in a plot to steer US funds to the terror group Hamas.” – New York Post, April 10, 2019 editorial

AOC called the Post’s cover “horrifying” and “hateful.”

CLIMATE CHANGE: Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) asked bankers about climate change. Ayiyi. I watched the first 2 minutes, then couldn’t bear any more.

Tucker’s guest explains why AOC is wrong in her claim that climate change is causing the border crisis. Ms. Occasionally-Correct won’t care, because she thinks it is way more important to be “morally right” (like her) than to be “precisely, factually, and semantically correct.”

ABORTION inside scream

NORTH DAKOTA: Dismemberment abortion banned – North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum today signed a bill banning the brutal practice of killing unborn babies by tearing their arms and legs off, then crushing their skulls.

WI race

WISCONSIN: Conservative judge Brian Hagedorn has been elected to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, giving conservatives a 5-2 majority.

Texas Tech Med

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION: No – The U.S. Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights is requiring Texas Tech University’s medical school to stop considering race in admissions. The move marks an escalation of the Trump administration’s efforts against colleges’ affirmative action policies.

Abortion pill reversal

UNPLANNED: An abortion reversal hotline credits the pro-life film with the 30% increase in the number of calls they’re getting from women who want to reverse their chemical abortions.
