MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS: Intense and true World War II story told in two parts.
WASHINGTON HAS A SPENDING PROBLEM: President Trump’s budget proposal calls for $2.7 trillion in spending cuts and balances the budget in 15 years. It’s about time SOMEBODY started doing something about it.
The Obama administration added more to our national debt than all previous presidents combined. If the Obama slobbering media had been doing its JOB, they would’ve screamed bloody murder. They had plenty to say about Bush’s debt in 2008. So did Obama! But as soon as Democrats had the trifecta majority, they supercharged deficit spending while the media cheered.
DEMOCRATS: Disenfranchising citizens – On Friday, the House voted on a measure condemning voting in U.S. elections by non-citizens, including those here illegally. All but one Republican voted for it. All but six Democrats voted against it.
Federal law prohibits non-citizens from voting in elections for federal office. But Francisco is allowing non-citizens, including illegal aliens, to register to vote in school board elections. And in 2016, then-President Obama encouraged illegals to vote.
UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE: Bankrupting nations – It’s not just Finland experiencing such problems with its socialist policies. Other Nordic countries, also touted by American socialists and communists as the model America should follow, are suffering similar economic burdens directly related to their socialist policies.
ANOTHER SOCIALIST FAILURE: Venezuela, March 10, 2019 (Reuters) – Furious Venezuelans lined up to buy water and fuel on Sunday as the country endured a fourth day of a nationwide blackout that has left already-scarce food rotting in shops, homes suffering for lack of water and cell phones without reception.
Authorities have managed to provide only patchy access to power since the outage began on Thursday in what President Nicolas Maduro called an act of U.S.-backed sabotage, but critics insist it is the result of incompetence and corruption.
The government on Sunday suspended school and business activities for the following day without providing any information on a likely time frame for resolving the situation, leaving many fretting that it could extend indefinitely.
TDS: Another adult screaming at a kid over a Trump hat – Surveillance video on a Martin County school bus shows a bus aide yelling at a student to take off a Trump hat, then grabbing it off of his head.
The 14-year-old boy was wearing the hat for “hat day,” and the school reportedly has no policy restricting political apparel.
The aide says she was “personally offended” by that particular hat. I’m personally offended by her bullying a kid, but that doesn’t give me the right to smack her silly, though it might do her some good.
The school says it is taking the incident very seriously. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether the bus aide, who has not been on the bus since, committed a crime.
JEXODUS: Here it is! – A new movement called “Jexodus” was launched at the beginning of March by Jewish millennials who are tired of the Democratic party’s “blatant disregard for anti-Semitism.” The movement seeks to galvanize young Jewish Americans who are afraid to speak out about their political beliefs.
Jexodus, a play on words referencing the Jewish people’s exodus from Egyptian slavery, will begin holding rallies in April, right around the time of Passover, the Jewish holiday that commemorates the exodus epoch. They will start in New York and Florida, with the goal of spreading throughout the nation.
DOMINICAN ORDER GROWING FAST: The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist are growing so rapidly, they had to build a second convent. Their first is in Ann Arbor, MI. The new one is in Georgetown, TX, just 30 miles from the liberal city of Austin.
In a recent Bits & Bytes, I reported on a study of religion in America that showed that the conservative Protestant sects are growing, while the liberal ones are shrinking. This is true for Catholics as well.
This order of nuns wears long white habits and keep a regimen of prayer and worship throughout the day. Their mission is to teach schoolchildren. And while liberal orders are aging and dying out, this group has grown from 4 to 140 in 20 years with an average age is 32.
COAT FLIP: My kids learned this when they were small. I think my sister showed it to us.
