DOG SLED: Dearest took this last month when he went to Lake Placid for our grandson’s 2d birthday.

2019 Trump CPAC - joke

DEMOCRATS CAN’T TAKE A JOKE: During his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump said, “If you tell a joke, if you’re sarcastic, if you’re having fun with the audience, if you’re on live television with millions of people and 25,000 people in an arena and if you say something like, ‘Russia, please, if you can, get us Hillary Clinton’s emails. Please, Russia, please. Please get us the emails. Please.’ So everybody is having a good time. I’m laughing; we’re all having fun. Then that fake CNN and others say, ‘He asked Russia to go get the emails.’”

FREE SPEECH ON CAMPUS: During his CPAC speech, President Trump said he would soon sign an executive order requiring free speech at American colleges and universities which receive federal funding.

We reject oppressive speech codes, censorship, political correctness and every other attempt by the hard left to stop people from challenging ridiculous and dangerous ideas,” said Trump.

SHAPIRO TIX: Tickets to hear conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro sold out in under two minutes, according to Kate Westa, vice president of the University of Michigan’s chapter of  Young Americans for Freedom.

For the record, I am not sure what speech the Shapiro clip is from. It’s posted at the YAF site without any explanation.

2020 NBC/Wall Street POLL: From Fuzzy Slippers at Legal Insurrection – “Apparently, Democrat voters want someone who has “aggressive policy ideas” but one who can also beat Trump. Given that today’s Socialist Democrats are pushing Medicare for all, ‘free’ college, and the ridiculous Green New Deal that promises to eliminate cow farts and airplanes, it’s hard to imagine a Democrat with ‘aggressive policy ideas’ getting very far in a general election.”

AOC stop cow farts

GREENPEACE FOUNDER HATES GREEN NEW DEAL: Patrick Moore, the co-founder of the environmentalist group Greenpeace, slammed Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), calling her a “pompous little twit” and “garden-variety hypocrite like the others.” Ripping into her proposed Green New Deal, he says she has “ZERO expertise.”

You don’t have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels or get the food into the cities. Horses? If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating. You would bring about mass death.”

BLISTERING CONDEMNATION: Jeff Ballabon, an advisor to President Trump’s 2020 campaign, ripped Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Monday over her latest anti-Semitic remarks. “Democrats have now taken anti-semitism at its worst and most base disgusting force and made it mainstream.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that some of the country’s leading Jewish organizations sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel (D-NY) demanding that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) be removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee for her anti-Semitism.

HICKENWHO?: Fourteen Democrats have now thrown their hats into the 2020 “beat Trump” ring.

Bernie or Bust

BERNIE STUMPED BY QUESTION: During a radio interview, Bernie Sanders was asked to point to legislation he has passed that helped African-American people. He couldn’t come up with a single example. #BLEXIT anyone?

THE THREE PHASES OF FAUXCAHONTAS: From William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection – Elizabeth Warren’s unjustifiable claim to be Native American for employment purposes continues to frame the narrative of her presidential campaign. So far, there have been three phases.

The Family Lore Phase – From late April 2012, when it was first discovered she claimed to be Native American, until the summer of 2018, Warren repeatedly insisted her claim was based on what her family told her. Anyone who questioned her story was attacking her parents. Problems:

  • She didn’t start claiming to be Native American until the mid-1980s and climbing the law professor ladder that eventually led to Harvard Law School.
  • Her story that her parents had to elope because her mother was part Native American makes no sense, since the marriage was celebrated in the local newspaper at the time.

The DNA Phase – With Trump mocking and branding her as Pocahontas, Warren was under pressure to do something, anything, to shake the narrative that she was a faker. So she took a DNA test, then rolled out the results just before the midterms, with a Boston Globe puff piece and slick video. Problems:

  • The test showed Warren might be as little as 1/1024th Native American, less than the average Caucasian American.
  • Native Americans were offended, because they do not use DNA as a measure of whether one is Native American, much less a tribal member.

The Apology Phase – Warren hardly claims to be Native American anymore, though she uses a linguistic sleight of hand, repeatedly focusing on tribal membership. The problem isn’t just that Warren isn’t a tribal member, she’s not Native American at all. So focusing on tribal membership is a dodge.

FACT: Warren can’t shake her Native American problem, because it’s obvious she tried to appropriate the modern social and cultural benefits of being part Native American when she had no right to them.

2019_02 27 Media bias poll

MEDIA BIAS: Too little, too late — The Washington Post finally admits it screwed up big time in its coverage of the Covington Catholic story. “It’s amazing, the difference a $250 million defamation lawsuit can make,” writes media critic Becket Adams.

PRAGER UNIVERSITY: Decades after capitalism seemed to have triumphed over socialism, politicians are once again arguing about the merits and drawbacks of these opposing economic systems. Why are we still having this debate? Andy Puzder, former CEO of the parent company of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr., explains the misconceptions that keep the debate alive.

AOC Ben Stein

STRAWMAN: According to yesterday’s AOC Twitter spew, “According to the GOP, when poor + working people advocate for themselves, we shouldn’t listen bc they’re “irresponsible.” Yeah, no.

Republicans want the poor and working class to be empowered to work, supported to succeed, and discouraged from being owned by the government through dependence. Kinda, you know, like what is happening with the Trump Economy.

DEPLORABLE: Hillary Clinton getting a “unity” award reminds me of that time another Democrat got a Nobel Peace Prize for … wait, what did he do again? Oh yeah. Nothing!

CRAZY PLUS STUPID AND ILLEGAL: California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office notified journalists Jason Paladino and Robert Lewis, “You are hereby on notice that the unauthorized receipt or possession of a record from the Department’s ACHS or information obtained from such a record is a misdemeanor. (Pen. Code § 11143.).”

David Snyder, an attorney at the First Amendment Coalition, says, “The Supreme Court has made clear that if a journalist or anyone else lawfully receives information, they are protected from civil liability for publishing it. And the threat to bring criminal charges is totally groundless under the First Amendment.”

Snyder also noted that “the California statute that is cited in the letter specifically … says you can’t charge journalists with this kind of activity.”

  1. In the “Has Trump been honest”chart, what are we seeing percentages for? News story slant, I suppose, or audience perception poll (heh), or…?

Pretty startling numbers, in any case, especially ☭ℿℿ.
