Signs Mark Barack Obama Highway in California More

Suitable for the home of the perpetual traffic jam

The signs are up, and it’s official: You can now take a drive on the President Barack H. Obama Highway.

Signs were posted Thursday, renaming a section of a Los Angeles-area freeway after the 44th president of the United States, The Associated Press reported. The signs were installed along a stretch of State Route 134 that runs from the Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles to Interstate 210 in Pasadena.

  1. In South Hellifornia, near the intersection of Beelzebub Way and Lucifer Lane, where angels fear to tread, they named a patch of pavement for one of Satan’s most successful suckers. Isn’t that special!

South of town, there is a stretch of highway named for Mr. Ira Lee Henderson, died November, 2011, at age 42. Left behind were his wife of ten years, his parents, and his three married brothers, all living in town.

Not a politician. Not a great philanthropist. Not a world-shaker. He had been working for the Department of Transportation for less than six months when he was struck on the job and killed. “Just” a guy doing his job with the highway department, meeting a careless driver.

His memorial is a reminder to all to mind our driving around construction, as well as honoring those many ordinary souls who keep the roads working, sometimes at mortal risk.
