2018_12 Trump Christmas portrait

Holy Father, cover President Trump, Vice President Pence, their families, members of their administration, as well as their friends and business associates with the power of Your blood over their minds, bodies, souls and spirits. Charge Your angels to watch over and protect them. Let no evil overtake them. Let no weapon against them prosper.

Jesus, You have started a good work in and through President Trump. Rise up and live bigly through him and in Your people today.

Holy Spirit, raise up Your mighty army of warring worshipers. Let us never back down from promoting Your Gospel.

2018_12 19 Dems for 2020

BALTIMORE BUY BACK: Karma — At least one woman is taking advantage of Baltimore’s gun buy back program to get cash to buy herself a better gun.

DEMOCRATS ON TOP OF LEAST IMPORTANT ISSUE: Gallup’s latest survey of what Americans think are our “top problems” put “gun control/guns” at the BOTTOM of the list. Nancy Pelosi said Democrats “will act boldly and decisively” on gun control laws when they take control of the House in January.

KAVANAUGH: Judge dismisses ethics complaints — As part of the Trump Deranged warfare against Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, Democrats and their allies filed dozens of ethics complaints against Kavanaugh. The 10th Circuit judicial council just released an Order dismissing the complaints on the grounds that the judicial code of conduct did not apply to Supreme Court Justice, and now that Kavanaugh was on the Supreme Court, the council could not act.

ARIZONA SENATE SEATS: Effective next month, Republican U.S. Rep. Martha McSally will replace retiring U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl to fill for the next two years the Senate seat long held by the late U.S. Sen. John McCain. Gov. Doug Ducey’s decision to appoint McSally revives her political life less than two months after she narrowly lost the race for the state’s other Senate seat to Democrat Kyrsten Sinema.

PRISON REFORM PASSES SENATE: The Senate overwhelmingly approved a major reform of the criminal justice system in a 87-12 vote. The legislation will likely pass the House and President Trump has vowed to sign the bill. The legislation includes several reforms, including home confinement for lower-level offenders, and addressing sentence disparities between crack and powder cocaine.

SPACE FORCE LAUNCHES: President Trump signed an order to create U.S. Space Command as a separate branch of the military. The move comes as China and Russia are apparently working on ways to disrupt and disable U.S. satellites.

2018_12 18 Ratcliffe Comey

COMEY: Former FBI Director James Comey testified again behind closed doors on Capitol Hill on Monday, and his comments to reporters afterwards sent needles flying off arrogance detectors. What Comey told members of Congress was equally unbelievable. Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe shared the example above. Meanwhile, Gen Flynn is being sentenced on lying to the FBI and others have been sentenced for mishandling classified information

2018_12 19 Warren Pimping

WARREN PIMPING: Black pastor disgusted –On December 14, 2018, Elizabeth Warren admitted she herself was “not a person of color” during a Commencement speech at Morgan State University, a historically black college. The speech was widely scorned, in part because Warren has been touted as a woman of color for over 25 years, based on her false claim to be Native American. But nowhere was the scorn more severe than in a radio segment on WGBH, Boston Public Radio, where two black pastors said, “She’s pimping, and this is how she’s pimping: She’s using a black optic to subvert attention away from how she really botched the Native American narrative.”

PSA: If you’re a weenie, don’t even think about joining the Coast Guard!

WE DON’T NEED DEAD BABIES: We never did — A pro-life medical scholar appeared before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform this week to explain why a ban on harvesting aborted fetal tissue will have no impact on research.

2018_ 12 19 War on Christmas toon

WAR ON CHRISTMAS: Fighting back and winningAfter a mall in Scotland refused to allow the Stirling Legion of Mary to host a nativity scene for ONE DAY, two young Scottish Catholics staged a “living nativity” there to raise awareness of both the ban and the true “reason for the season.” A video of the pair dressed as Mary and Joseph was viewed on social media over 80,000 times. The mall relented and the Legion members spent the day talking to people eager to chat about the manger scene. Shoppers photographed the beautiful figures and children shared about their school nativity plays. I used to belong to our local Legion of Mary. It’s a terribly subversive group that meets weekly to pray the rosary and plan home visits to shut-ins. One time, a bunch of different parish groups got together for Mass and lunch. Also, one of my girls did a college semester abroad in Stirling and her dad and sisters visited her there.

WELL, MY MARRIAGE IS IN GREAT SHAPE: Dearest’s favorite line, “He who smelt it dealt it.” – “Partners who fart in front of each other are more likely to have a lasting relationship, says study.”

THE MOST WHOLESOME TWEETS OF 2018: Social media isn’t all bad — There are too many here to share. Just grab a tissue (or two) and click. Make that three.

BEST SANTA EVER: When a blind, autistic boy comes to meet him, this department store Santa went above and beyond.

    bigly — 😀

to explain why a ban on harvesting aborted fetal tissue will have no impact on research.

I had thought this was well understood for some time now, and such fetal tissue use had been discontinued. Not yet?

My dear lady has for over a quarter-century now had a severe problem in the nose, healing for which I pray daily and the only reply to that prayer is that it hasn’t become worse thank you amen. It mars her looks, hampers her beautiful singing voice, and keeps a master chef from being able to smell well much of the time.

However, I’m fully aware of the old saying, “be careful what you ask for.” Should she, God willing, be healed, and recover her sense of smell, and realize what she’s been living with… I might be in trouble.

Reminds me of a wonderful story from one of James Herriot’s books. He had a well-to-do female client, a genteel lady with refined tastes, who had a dog she loved, but hated living with, partly because he was much too big for her, but more to the point, because he farted. All the time. And they were really stinky ones.

Herriot found the lovely lady a lapdog she was very happy with and rehomed the big, farty dog with a local gardener who was outdoors a great deal. Later, he visited the big dog’s new owner, who waxed enthusiastic about how grateful he was that the “vitnery” had given him such a grand dog. When Herriot asked if the stinky farts were not a problem when they were at home in the evenings, the man said he had lost his sense of smell years before.
