Illinois: Good guy with gun stops school shooter

Chalk one up for the good guys. Faculty at Dixon High School in Dixon, Illinois thought they’d heard fireworks yesterday morning, but school resource officer Mark Dallas knew otherwise. He confronted 19-year-old Matthew Milby, who had opened fire in the school, forcing him to flee and eventually hitting him in an exchange of gunfire. The only casualty was the gunman.
As one law enforcement officer noted in ABC’s report, everything went right in this case, when a whole lot of things could have gone wrong. That’s clearly true, but first one thing has to happen before anything can go right — the shooter has to be confronted with deadly force.

Parkland Officer Who Waited Gets $8,700 a Month Pension
The former Florida sheriff’s deputy slammed by President Donald Trump for failing to confront a gunman massacring students and adults at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is reportedly receiving a lifetime monthly pension of $8,702.35 – sparking outrage among parents of the teen victims.
“This infuriates me in ways people cannot comprehend. My daughter would still be alive if this person did his job,” Fred Guttenberg, whose 14-year-old daughter Jaime was among 17 people shot dead inside the Parkland, said on Twitter.
