A Post for No Apparent Reason

Except that I’m bored, I have a lot of leftover stuff, and Curmudgeon from Political Clown Parade named our little corner of the Garden as the featured blog of the week. It is gratifying to be recognized in one’s own lifetime, proving once again that mental illness is no longer hopeless.

Conyers Turns on Conyers In Bid to Replace Conyers

Great nephew of disgraced former congressman challenges signatures on son’s application to run

The Conyers family power struggle intensified Thursday as Ian Conyers, the great nephew of disgraced former Rep. John Conyers Jr., took steps to boot the ex-congressman’s son John Conyers III from the ballot in the race to replace him.
John Conyers III should be kicked from the ballot because he did not collect the requisite 1,000 valid signatures to run for his father’s old seat in Michigan’s 13th District, the formal challenge filed by an attorney for Ian Conyers asserts.

The 2016 election was far from a fluke
America’s political experts got it wrong in 2016 — not because they took too few polls, but because they made the false assumption that American elections are immune to societal change.  They are, in large part, still getting things wrong, not only by failing to understand a new group of voters who put President Donald Trump in the White House but also by ignoring why they voted the way they did.

[CtH: The NY Post article above is by Salena Zito. I’m going to order her new book. It looks interesting. “Salena Zito is unique: a truth-telling reporter who found the America that elected Donald Trump. She listened to them. Understands them. Respects them. Not only did she get the election right, but by employing the lost art of shoe-leather journalism, she uncovered an amazing national political realignment that was—and still is—completely invisible to the Wizards of Smart who inhabit our distant capital. Whenever I see her byline, I stop and read. I know it will be that good. You should, too. Don’t doubt me.” —Rush Limbaugh]

The Top 7 Reasons Why Mueller Should Go

If a federal judge (on the circuit since 1987) sees through the charade that the Office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller is putting forth to this degree, what else need be said?
Do we need wait for this case to be tried in several courts and make its way to the Supreme Court? Or can we now just admit what most of the American people have felt for some time?

NY Governor moves to protect unions from SCOTUS decision

We’re still awaiting the outcome of Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees at the Supreme Court, but many observers seem to feel that the court is set to hand down a serious blow to labor unions. If they’re right, the days of unions (with the full endorsement of the government) being able to forcibly extract money from the pockets of non-members and use for political speech with which they disagree may be over. Apparently seeing the writing on the wall, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is pushing through legislation which would further empower public sector unions to strongarm workers, preventing them from being exempt from such payments and likely endangering their jobs.

Scott Pruitt’s Head Bodyguard Takes On The ‘False Dirty Laundry’ Being Spread About EPA

Many of the accusations against Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt and his close aides were concocted by “disgruntled employees” looking to damage the agency, the former head of Pruitt’s security detail said.

Former EPA official Kevin Chmielewski detailed many accusations against Pruitt, Perrotta and other top aides to congressional Democrats. Many of the accusations were “intentionally used to mislead the American people,” Perrotta told TheDCNF.

Donald Trump Opposes Don Blankenship in West Virginia: ‘No Way’ He Can Win

A former coal executive, Blankenship was jailed for violating federal mine safety standards after 29 miners were killed in his Upper Big Branch mine in 2014. He has spent his campaign trashing Senate Majority Mitch McConnell as a “Swamp captain” in Washington, DC and “Cocaine Mitch.” His politically incorrect style has earned the support of many Trump supporting Republicans in West Virginia. But Trump urged voters to choose a different candidate, one that could win the general election. “Remember Alabama,” he wrote, recalling Roy Moore’s loss in the Alabama Senate race. “Vote Rep. Jenkins or A.G. Morrisey!”

Diamond and Silk Torch Democratic Party At NRA Annual Meeting

Oh yes, they were added to the speaking list. Lynette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson, more commonly known by their social media names Diamond and Silk, addressed the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas last Friday in which the sisters proceeded to torch the Democratic Party, gun control policies, and remind people to vote in 2018.

Trump won’t testify in ‘bad faith’ Mueller probe: DiGenova

Joseph diGenova, a former Trump personal lawyer and U.S. attorney, said Sunday that the president will not agree to be interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller in his Russia collusion probe because it has devolved into a “bad faith” investigation.

“The president will not sit down for an interview because this investigation has reached a level of bad faith,” diGenova told “Fox News Sunday.” “This is no longer a good faith investigation.”

‘Let Me Assault YOUR Reputation’ — MSNBC Panel Turns Into Dumpster Fire

Dershowitz noted “two tragedies” with regard to the Mueller investigation.

“One, the way the White House has behaved and second, the way Mueller, who has a mixed reputation when I was in Boston with regard to four innocent people who spent their life and two of them died in jail — ” Dershowitz said, before Painter interrupted him.

“That is not true. You cannot say that, professor. That’s a lie,” said Painter, who has made a name for himself with his hysterical attacks on President Donald Trump. “Do not assault his reputation. That’s just not true.”

“Then let me assault your reputation,” Dershowitz fired back. “Let me talk about your reputation. Painter is trying to turn — parlay his anti-Trump zealotry into a position.”

Nancy Pelosi Refuses to Call on Tony Cardenas to Resign After Child Molestation Claim

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has declined to call upon Rep. Tony Cardenas (D-CA) to resign after he was sued for allegedly molesting a teenage girl whom he allegedly drugged in 2007.

Instead, Pelosi decided to refer Cardenas to the House Ethics Committee for investigation.

Late last week, Pelosi released a statement in which she indicated that she had spoken with Cardenas, and that he had “appropriately asked us to withhold judgment until there is a full investigation of the facts.”

Liberal Democrats REALLY Want Trump To Fire Mueller, Sessions And Rosenstein

Herein lies the big problem, should Trump fire Mueller or Rosenstein or Sessions, and the reason why he probably will not: Trump knows that if he did, he would look incredibly weak and would put his presidency in jeopardy by attacking the very foundation of our republic: The rule of law.

Let’s not forget who really wants Trump to fire Mueller and Rosenstein and Sessions: Liberal Democrats, who would use it to fire up their base in November, retake the House and the Senate, immediately start impeachment proceedings, and probably propel a leftist firebrand like Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders to the Democratic nomination and possibly the presidency.

Video: Things and people more popular than Nancy Pelosi

Is Pelosi really enough of an attraction across the land? A rather embarrassing segment on the local NBC outlet in her hometown featured a quick look at Pelosi’s approval numbers. Their anchor explains that there’s a good reason people might not want Nancy back as Speaker. You see, people really don’t like her.

White House Reporter April Ryan: Melania Trump Is “Not Culturally American”

Obama Whines About Trump’s America — ‘I Worry When Our Values Are Not Being Upheld’

“I worry when our values are not being upheld,” he said. Obama added, “Our democracy, just like any organization, can’t work if, for example, we don’t insist on facts. Like, facts are really useful. We can’t make good decisions if we don’t at least agree on the facts.”

Trump ‘poised to ignore warnings and scrap Iran nuclear deal’ despite last-ditch pleas from European allies

The President tweeted that he is due to make a decision on the deal later today
European diplomats say they believe he is likely to announce US will pull out
Deal saw Iran mothball its nuclear programme in return for sanctions relief
Trump called deal ‘insane’ as it doesn’t prevent Iran developing nuclear weapons

Maxine Waters fails to serve Teamsters red meat in unleashed tirade

Sadly it’s becoming clear that Democrats believe their own ridiculous lies.

While Speaking to the Teamsters Union Local 630 in Los Angeles this weekend, Maxine Waters had another public meltdown as she laughably claimed that “It has not been Republicans, it is always Democrats. We’ve been there for you. We’re gonna stay there for you. And damn this president!”

You know, some people think his antics sometimes are funny, sometimes cute, sometimes unusual. And to say, ‘Well, you know, he’s going to learn to become presidential.”

“That’s a lie! He’s never going to be presidential,” she spewed, waving her glasses in the air.

“He’s never going to be presidential because he does not respect the Constitution of the United States of America and he is no friend to organized labor,” she cried, receiving no response from the crowd.
