Hypocrisy on Parade

Early this morning a friend who is in a private Facebook group with us was talking about the Vice President attending the NFL game in Indianapolis yesterday, since he is the former governor of that state and was there for the dedication of the statue of NFL great Peyton Manning. Before the national anthem, in an obvious ‘in your face,’ twenty of those overpaid neanderthals took the now-familiar knee. Pence walked out before the game started.

Some troll on FB piped in, whining about how much taxpayer money it cost for him to attend the game and pull this ‘publicity stunt.’ Never one to deprive myself of an emotional outlet, I let him have it about why liberals are suddenly concerned with the cost of anything and advised him that Trump was president and suggested he get over it. He angrily sent me a request to IM him, obviously so he could spit more of the all too familiar venom they’re known for when they have no facts. I declined, since I could have just as intelligent conversation with a potholder without the profanity.

Pence Leaves Colts Game In Disgust After 49ers Kneel During National Anthem

Pence left the Indianapolis Colts game after around 20 players from the San Francisco 49ers knelt during the playing of the “Star Spangled Banner.” The vice president, following in the footsteps of President Donald Trump, criticized the players for their disrespect on Twitter.

Reporters are attacking Vice President Mike Pence for walking out on the Indianapolis Colts-San Francisco 49ers NFL game Sunday afternoon after nearly two dozen visiting 49ers took a knee in protest during the playing of the National Anthem. Pence’s principled stand was called a stunt and mocked as ‘wag the flag’ by reporters.

Online Media Ridicule Pence for Leaving NFL Game After Anthem Protests
Vice-president Mike Pence and his wife Karen went to the Indianapolis Colts’ football game today to cheer on their favorite team and see the club retire the uniform of former great, quarterback Peyton Manning. But when 23 members of the visiting San Francisco 49ers dishonored America by taking a knee during the national anthem, the VP left. Left-stream media predictably put on an all-out blitz against the VP.

Dallas Cowboys Owner Will Bench Players Who Disrespect The Flag

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will bench players who disrespect the flag.
Jones spoke with the media following the Cowboys loss to the Green Bay Packers Sunday, and he made his position crystal clear.
He will not put players on the field who disrespect the American flag.

Bowe Bergdahl to Plead Guilty to Desertion, Misbehavior Before the Enemy to Avoid Trial
The decision [to plead guilty] by the 31-year-old Idaho native leaves open whether he will return to captivity for years — this time in a U.S. prison — or receive a lesser sentence that reflects the time the Taliban held him under brutal conditions. He says he had been caged, kept in darkness, beaten and chained to a bed.
Bergdahl is now facing up to five years on the desertion charge and life behind bars for misbehavior before the enemy.

It’s a New York thing! SNL creator Lorne Michaels reveals the show gave Harvey Weinstein a pass because the shamed movie mogul is from his city (but so is Trump)
Lorne Michaels was filmed leaving SNL’s after-party in New York at about 4am
•When he was asked why the show avoided the Weinstein controversy, he smiled and responded: ‘It’s a New York thing’
•The show had earlier been criticized for not mentioning the sexual harassment allegations leveled against Weinstein this week
•An audience member has since revealed the cast did try out a Weinstein joke during a dress rehearsal but it was cut before it went to air
•The joke apparently got a big reaction from the audience
•SNL regularly pokes fun of President Donald Trump who hails from New York
•Social media users were quick to slam the show’s hypocrisy in not going after one of Hollywood’s biggest players following the allegations
‘Why didn’t big mouth Michael Che say anything about Harvey Weinstein on SNL ‘Weekend Update’? He’s got so much opinion about everything else,’ Pastor Darrell Scott tweeted.
Another person tweeted: ‘That is why the political left is OK w/ abandoning but the celebrity left (SNL late night hosts) isn’t.’

Let go and let God

Stress is a physiological response to a perceived threat. Three of the most obvious physical responses are commonly known as Freeze, Fight, and Flight.

  • Freeze: We become hyper alert to threat indicators, lifting our heads up to look and listen, which involves tightening neck and shoulder muscles.
  • Fight: We tighten our hands in preparation for battle.
  • Flight: We tighten our feet in preparation for running away.

These stress responses are really important to surviving muggers and bears, etc., and cause no long term damage when the stress is relieved in short order.

This is not true when they become chronic responses to problems that cannot be resolved quickly or through Freezing, Fighting, or Fleeing.

This summer, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with pain and stiffness in my feet. A couple of weeks ago, I remembered that a pain therapist had me roll a golf ball under my bare feet to relieve stress.  It undoes the Flight tension.

Like this:

Making “fists with your toes” also undoes the tension in the feet caused by fear, in this case, of flying. It’s bio-feedback on the cheap.

Since I’ve been processing a lot of old fear memories this summer, I ordered a box of used golf balls from Amazon. Now I’ve got one each in two fabric-lined box lids, one here by my office chair and the other out by my spot on the couch. I figure it couldn’t hurt to roll my feet on them a little bit, several times a day, while reciting the surrender prayer.

O Jesus, I surrender myself to you. Take care of everything. Amen.

Yesterday, the idea of worry balls came into my head and I realized they are relaxing, because they relieve Fight tension in the hands. So I added two more golf balls to my little prayer regimen. They don’t jingle like Chinese meditation balls, but they roll just fine.  Good thing I bought a box of a dozen balls! 🙂

Finally, during the night, when my shoulders and neck were hurting, I thought about Freeze stress. Today, I started also pressing a golf ball into the two hot spots I have on each side of my neck and shoulders.

This stuff actually seems to help and it’s dirt cheap, so I thought I’d share in case you, too, are looking for ways to help yourself …

In 1492, Apparently Nothing Happened

There has existed a movement for some time to remove all references to Christopher Columbus, including his statues and the designation of today as Columbus Day, a holiday for federal employees and financial institutions. The snowflakes want to change the name to “Indigenous Peoples Day,” just as they want to refer to Christmas as “winter holiday.”

President Trump Issues “Columbus Day Proclamation” without Obama’s Hand-wringing Apologies
How refeshing is it to have a President who actually works to preserve and honor our History as Americans? Barack Obama worked his entire eight years to denigrate and undermine our common culture and History as Americans. Not Trump. Every Conservative – every American – should support Donald Trump in his desire to preserve our History. Our history and tradition of observing Columbus Day is a good example

The History Behind the Movement to Replace Columbus Day With Indigenous Peoples’ Day
While the Federal Government will close on Oct. 9 for the 80th commemoration of Columbus Day, which was made official by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1937, some U. S. cities will mark the day in a different way, choosing rather to focus on the original inhabitants of the land to which Christopher Columbus sailed.

Italian-Americans fight against movement to abolish Columbus Day
But the gesture to recognize indigenous people rather than the man who opened the Americas to European domination also has prompted howls of outrage from some Italian-Americans, who say eliminating their festival of ethnic pride is culturally insensitive, too.

Columbus, the West, and the Myth of the Noble Savage
For starters, those who were long recognized as American Indians constituted anything but a monolith but, rather, many tribes or nations.
Secondly, American Indians comprised numerous tribes or nations that were continuously at war with one another.
Thirdly, these wars were distinctively bloody and savage.
The Myth of the Noble Savage, a uniquely European fiction that Columbus himself initially endorsed, has long exposed as just that by anthropological and archaeological research.

Religious Liberty Restored!

2017_10 09 Religious Liberty Restored

President Trump has delivered!

The HHS Mandate will no longer be enforced against organizations with a sincerely held religious or moral objection. The exemption must be granted to anyone with a reasonable objection who requests it. The days of pleading for a waiver are over.

What’s more, Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a powerful memorandum about religious liberty to all federal agencies and departments. Among other things, it says:

  • The freedom of religion is an important, fundamental right, expressly protected by federal law.
  • The freedom of religion extends to persons and organizations.
  • Government may not officially favor or disfavor particular religious groups.
  • Religious employers are entitled to employ only persons whose beliefs and conduct are consistent with the employers’ religious precepts.
  • The federal government may not condition federal grants or contracts on the religious organization altering its religious character, beliefs, or activities.

The burden of proof has finally shifted back to the government where it belongs. This is a great leap forward for our First Amendment right to religious freedom.
