A federal judge blocked enforcement of much of a “sanctuary cities” law in Texas on Wednesday night, just days before it was set to go into effect.
U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia blocked portions of Senate Bill 4 (SB 4) requiring local law enforcement departments to comply with federal requests to hold unauthorized immigrants in custody. Also blocked: a provision that stopped local departments from implementing policies that would “materially limit” enforcement of immigration laws, the Dallas News reported.

Mitch McConnell pours more money into Luther Strange campaign
The super PAC connected to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell continues to financially back U.S. Sen. Luther Strange’s election efforts.
According to a report from Breitbart News, the Senate Leadership Fund has infused Strange’s campaign with $2.5 million for the six-week run up to the Sept. 26 GOP primary runoff against Roy Moore.
The funds would appear to again give Strange a staggering financial edge over Moore, who raised about $456,000 for the primary through July 26 – the latest figures available from the Federal Election Commission.
The SLF spent at least $4.2 million backing Strange in the primary, according to a report, when he finished second to Moore.

Hillary Charging Hundreds for Book Signing Meet & Greets: Mark Steyn Sounds Off
Mark Steyn joined Tucker Carlson to riff on Hillary Clinton, who is charging hundreds of dollars for the chance to meet her at a book signing and a meet-and-greet.
Carlson said that for $125, people could come to New York City for a book signing. Or, for $2400, they could head to Toronto to meet Mrs. Clinton.
Steyn noted how Carlson compared the prices to that of a Broadway show, saying that at the New York appearance, attendees might get a “restricted view of a full chorus of Macedonian content farmers dancing behind her, explaining why she lost the election.”
Steyn said that there are scores of “Saudi princes and Sudanese warlords” who are upset with Clinton only charging North Americans $2400 to meet her.
“That’s bargain basement prices for a meet and greet,” he said, speaking as the Saudis or Sudanese. “I had to pay four million dollars to the Clinton Foundation and sit through a speech on Diarrhea in Africa from Chelsea [Clinton] before I could meet with Hillary Clinton.”
He called both events a “hell of a steal.”
