God Bless Texas

The first thought was to do a post on the Antifa terrorism that is allowed to run rampant anywhere people who don’t share their twisted opinions want to gather. The Patriot Prayer march was cancelled because of the threat of violence. Did that stop these violent punks? Of course not. They showed up and fought anybody they could find. One commonality between Charlottesville and Berkeley is that the mayors are liberal pukes who order the police to stand down and allow these bastards to assault innocent people at will with no consequence. The more I read, the more I saw, the angrier I became. The only was this is going to stop is when the right starts fighting back. If that means shooting people, I’m all for it. Show them that violence will be met with violence. It’s all they understand. Lord knows these vile scum wouldn’t dare go to Sturgis to protest all the Confederate flags flown by 30,000 bikers who have no problem drawing blood and causing mayhem.

THERE…I FEEL A LITTLE BETTER

Hurricane Harvey made landfall over the weekend. Those who could get out did. A herculean effort has been undertaken to rescue those in the path of the storm which has dumped more than three feet of rain on the Gulf Coast. Of course, there has been looting, including one unfortunate thug who tried to rob a house but the owner was home. In Texas, this is akin to suicide. The result is the same. There is no room for a great deal about Harvey, but you can be sure that Texans will rebuild. This ain’t NOLA, with the lazy, whiny folks who are still living in FEMA trailers if they haven’t migrated to Houston (OOPS!) or farther north.

One thing was always assured…no matter what Trump does in response to the storm he will be savaged by the press. It’s already started and is sure to continue.  Governor Abbott is also a target.

MSNBC Host Asks Texas Gov. If He’s Going To Use Hurricane As Cover To Ensnare Illegal Aliens

Honestly, one would think that the governor would have more pressing matters than immigration enforcement, but Texas is a deep red state, liberals don’t like it very much, Republicans are anti-immigrant (or so the Left says), and so this just had to be asked. Why? It’s because that’s how MSNBC does business. If they didn’t keep liberal blood pressures elevated, they wouldn’t be doing their jobs.

Trump Rescinded Obama’s Flood Risk Rules Before Harvey

Those who backed Obama’s rules believed they would make people safer by putting roads, bridges and other infrastructure on safer ground, NPR reported, but Trump rescinded the rule several weeks ago in an attempt to speed up the time it takes for infrastructure projects to be approved.

REMEMBER HOW W. WAS RIPPED TO SHREDS BECAUSE HE WASN’T IN NAWLINS DURING KATRINA TO RESCUE VICTIMS WHILE THEY SHOT AT HIM? YOU KNOW THEY’LL FIND PEOPLE TO GRIPE ABOUT TRUMP’S RESPONSE, NO MATTER WHAT IT IS.

To CNN, Schumer, et al.: Now is NOT the time for politics
“As millions of people in TX and LA are preparing for the hurricane,” Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY), leader of the Senate Democrats, proclaimed in a series of Friday night tweets, “The President is using the cover of the storm to pardon a man who violated a court’s order to stop discriminating against Latinos and [to] ban courageous transgender men and women from serving our nation’s Armed Forces. The only reason to do these right now is to use the cover of Hurricane Harvey to avoid scrutiny. So sad, so weak.”
And, so low-life for Schumer.

MSNBC Shocked Trump Hasn’t Screwed Up Hurricane Harvey Yet

The “journalists” at MSNBC seem eager for Hurricane Harvey to be a political disaster for Donald Trump, preemptively reminding everyone what the stakes are. Deadline: White House anchor Nicolle Wallace on Friday was amazed that the President hasn’t screwed it up yet: “It seems to me that this is the first event of this presidency where, sort of, the dire nature of the event seems to have halted other instincts in this president.”

Trump Announces He’ll Visit Flood-Ravaged Texas as Soon as Possible

“I will be going to Texas as soon as that trip can be made without causing disruption. The focus must be life and safety,” he wrote. Trump praised the coordination between various agencies to deal with the damage and rescue people, saying the efforts to save people were “going well.”

[CtH:  This is EXACTLY what Bush did!  If Obama mentioned something between putts, the Left slobbered about how caring he was.  Bush visited New Orleans something like 8 times, but all they did was keep reprinting that photo of him looking out the window of Air Force 1.  ::grrrr::]

tumeric and black pepper

A couple years ago, I read a brief blog by someone who sounded like she knew what she was about. It just said that the goodies in turmeric were much more bio-available if you warmed it in oil with black pepper before cooking. This article is far more informative, but ends up at the same place. 🙂

I immediately stopped stuffing turmeric into gel caps and started cooking with it routinely. I’ve come to rely on this blend as my starting point for many dishes, particularly ones with rice and vegetables. I also like to sauté chopped onions in it to add to crock pot soups and stews; this really adds a BLAST of flavor to dishes that can otherwise turn into “crock pot blah.”

On low heat (3 on my electric stove), melt a glob of refined coconut oil. Add 1/4 tsp each of turmeric and black pepper, plus 1/2 tsp salt. Stir until warm and well blended. (I often add a pinch of ginger and cinnamon as well, maybe Italian seasoning or, if I’m doing fish or poultry, some poultry seasoning.) Proceed with recipe.

While the oil and spices are warming, I chop up onions and toss them in, cuz I like them well done. Then I chop and add fermented garlic and whatever’s in the hydrator that appeals to me at the moment. (I’m a seat of the pants kinda cook! LOL) Stir in some pre-cooked meat or fish, if I’m in the mood, then pile on enough pre-cooked rice to make up two servings. Stir, cover, and let it fester on low heat while I set the table, pour the kombucha, and rustle up my spousal unit.

I think doing it this way retains a lot of the goodness in the veg, since it doesn’t cook very long. And it turns rice such a pretty color. Plus, lookie here, what it says in the article … black pepper helps cure vitiligo! I haven’t noticed particularly that my pinto hubby has lost any of his spots, but I haven’t been paying attention either. I sure will now! 🙂
