Republican Wins Kansas Special Election

But it’s a WIN for the Democrats!

Kansas Treasurer Ron Estes won the special election in the 4th district against Democratic civil rights attorney James Thompson. Estes won with 52% of the vote.

Democrats tried to spin the win into a positive because the margin of victory was small. Naturally, many members of the political media joined them.
The New York Times was not much better:

While Mr. Thompson fell short, his unexpected strength represents a warning shot toward Republicans. And it will galvanize Democrats’ candidate-recruitment efforts for next year’s campaign.

But then the House Republican campaign arm released a venomous ad accusing Mr. Thompson of favoring abortion rights for gender selection. Soon after, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas scheduled a rally for Mr. Estes on Monday. And Mr. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence recorded automated get-out-the-vote calls.
Thompson could not even take the high road:

“Mr. Estes did not beat us,” Mr. Thompson told supporters after the race was called. “It took a president of the United States, the vice president, the speaker of the House, a senator coming into our state and a bunch of lies to drum up a vote.”

His campaign and the DNC also tried to make this look like a win for the left:

“I think the momentum we’ve seen here on the ground, and outpouring of support from Democrats across the country into races like this, is a good signs for Democrats nationally regardless of what happens tonight,” Thompson campaign manager Colin Curtis said before the election.

Turns out Obama was the real Russian stooge

To take them in order: He re-set with Russia shortly after its clash with Georgia in 2008. He concluded the New START agreement with Moscow that reduced our nuclear forces but not theirs. When candidate Mitt Romney warned about Russia in the 2012 campaign, Obama rejected him as a Cold War relic.

The president then went on to forge an agreement with Russia’s ally Iran to allow it to preserve its nuclear program. During the red-line fiasco, he eagerly grasped a lifeline from Russia at the price of accepting its intervention in Syria. He never budged Ukraine “lethal” weapons to defend itself from Russian attack.

Finally, Obama cut US defense spending and cracked down on fossil fuels — a policy that Russia welcomes, since its economy is dependent on high oil prices.

Put all of this together, and it’s impossible to conclude anything other than that Obama was a Russian stooge — and not out of any nefarious dealings, but out of his own naïveté and weakness.

China rejects North Korean coal shipments, opts for US supplies instead

China has sent a flotilla of North Korean freighters loaded with coking coal back to their home ports, according to an exclusive Reuters report. Meanwhile, China has placed massive orders for the steel-making commodity from U.S. producers
The Dandong Chengtai said it had 600,000 tons of North Korean coal sitting at various ports and that there were 2 million tons stranded at Chinese ports to be sent back to North Korea, Reuters said.
As it halts imports of North Korean coal, China is increasing the amount of coal it buys from U.S. producers, Reuters said.

Buying U.S. coking coal marks a U-turn for China: No U.S. coking coal was exported to China between late 2014 and 2016. By February, coal shipments from the U.S. to China amounted to more than 400,000 tons

Internal BLM Memo Leaked: Trump’s Plan to Make America Great by Expediting Oil, Gas Production, Increasing Border Security, and Creating Jobs

The document is divided into five sections — “Making America Safe through Energy Independence”; “Making America Great Through Shared Conservation Stewardship”; “Making America Safe – Restoring Our Sovereignty”; “Getting America Back to Work”; and “Serving the American Family.”
Our country’s public lands should be preserved for all people to enjoy and should not be handed over to corporate polluters,” Taurel added.

“The priorities from Trump’s Bureau of Land Management make it clear that the administration is not planning to manage our parks and other special places for the use and enjoyment of the people, but rather for the profits of corporate polluters,” Athan Manuel, director of the Sierra Club’s public lands protection campaign, said in a statement provided to E&E.

I have this image in my head of her dying in her robe while sitting on the bench during oral arguments and nobody notices until they all get up to leave and she still sits there, cold and stiff.

Former Clinton Spokeswoman Says Press Leans Left But Claims That Makes Them Tougher on Democrats

“I said if President Bush were president, you guys wouldn’t be coming after him on gas prices, and they were like, ‘Well, no, because he’s a Republican, he doesn’t think that he should weigh in and fix gas prices, but you’re Democrats, you’re supposed to solve problems!'” she said.

She went on to say there was a “different metric” applied to Democrats by the press.

“I think they come after us harder on both being able to solve a problem, and then also on process and intrigue,” she said.

“Mrs. Clinton did not beat us. Not even with a president of the United States, the vice president, the FBI, multiple members of Congress, and the entire Main Stream Media pimping out a bunch of lies.” ::grins::
