Booker T. Washington was born on April 5, 1856, the illegitimate son of a black slave and a white plantation owner. Following emancipation, he worked his way through school, eventually becoming a teacher. In 1881, at the age of 25, he helped to found the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, a college for training black teachers.
Washington devoted his life to improving the lives of black Americans through education and vocational training, with a strong emphasis on teaching the life skills they would need to gain social acceptance, overcome white racism, and lead productive lives. He was often criticized by other black civil rights leaders of his time who found his style too understated and insufficiently confrontational. Washington’s formula for success for black Americans — education, thrift, and hard work — is what many black kids nowadays dismiss as “acting white.”
Booker T. Washington said:
“Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.”
“No greater injury can be done to any youth than to let him feel that because he belongs to this or that race he will be advanced in life regardless of his own merits or efforts.”
“There’s a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. … Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances because they do not want to lose their jobs. There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don’t want the patient to get well because as long as the disease holds out, they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.”
Washington wrote fourteen books, including an autobiography, Up From Slavery, which was published in 1901. He was instrumental in raising the funds for and helping to establish thousands of educational institutions for blacks throughout the south. He remained head of the Tuskegee Institute until his death in 1915, at which time Tuskegee’s endowment had grown to more than $1.5 million, due largely to his efforts.
Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, says that Hillary Clinton and six of her staffers retained access to classified and top-secret documents for years after they left the State Department.
Supposedly, this was permitted so they could work on her memoirs, but it’s pretty darned suspicious seeing as some of these “memoir researchers” were working for her presidential campaign.
Grassley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, has launched an inquiry into the matter.
Hillbilly: anyone who lives 100 miles outside an urban toilet.
MSNBC’s Joy Reid Rants: Trump Supporters Racist, Want ‘All Brown People’ Off Obamacare
MSNBC’s Joy Reid blessed the airwaves with two anti-Republican rants in less than 24 hours. She really wanted to make sure everyone was aware that Donald Trump supporters are racist and don’t want black people to be healthy.
“What I think is stunning, Chris, about today is that the Republican party learned absolutely nothing from the election of Donald Trump, including Donald Trump. Donald Trump won in the Rust Belt in those states saying he was going to repeal and replace Obamacare because at the time, we thought he understood that his voters hated the ‘Obama’ but they liked the ‘care.’
Reid continued saying Trump failed to keep up his anti-establishment persona by getting into bed with Paul Ryan and his “life-long dream” of tearing down social safety nets. She said Trump ran on, “I alone can fix this.”
And then, still high from being on her high horse, Reid continued rambling on her morning show on Saturday, AM Joy, and welcomed New York magazine columnist Frank Rich to talk about his article, “No Sympathy for the Hillbilly.” (See the connection?)
“After the election, the Democratic party self-diagnosis produced a number of conclusions to explain what went wrong,” Reid began the segment. “The one you probably hear the most often focuses on Democrats’ lack of empathy and appeal to the white working class voters who propelled Donald Trump to victory in unlikely Rust Belt states like Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania. And Democratic leaders have been trying to answer the question of how to turn those Republican voters back into Democrats.”
One disability all liberals are afflicted with is the inability to accept reality. From the pseudo-intellectuals fresh from their Ivy League indoctrination center with bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies, to the multimillionaire high school dropouts in Beverly Hills who get millions from saying lines someone else wrote, they all share the same flawed view of the people who make this country work.
We are taught to obey the law, be good role models for our kids, and never depend on the government for your success.
They tell us we must accept our wives and granddaughters sharing a bathroom with a bearded man with body odor.
Christians student are not allowed to have prayer groups in school, but the two Muslim students get their own prayer room. They whine about us being intolerant.
We watch blacks murder police officers and when one of these jackals pays the price, there are riots, looting, and burning. And we are called racists.
We object to hordes of mostly men flooding across our porous borders to live off taxpayer money, raping, murdering Muslim terrorists among them, others taking jobs to send money back to Spanish-speaking shitholes. And we are called xenophobes.
Their presidential candidate was so arrogant she never bothered visiting ‘safe buffer states’ like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. When November 8 came around we expressed how WE felt about THEM the only effective way we could. And we did. About 65 million of us.
Fox News reported it and social media and conservative news sites are on it.
The MSM … not so much.
- The New York Times pushed it to Page A16 with the headline “Trump tries to deflect Russia scrutiny, citing a crooked scheme by Obama.”
- The Washington Post didn’t mention it at all.
- ABC and NBC both chose to ignore the story on Monday evening, then gave minimal coverage on Tuesday morning, when they defended the Obama administration. [Rice is married to ABC Executive Producer Ian Cameron so no surprise there.]
- CBS cited unnamed sources who said there was nothing wrong with what Rice had done.
- CNN’s Don Lemon also stressed that the Trump team was not surveilled or spied on “illegally.”
Well … yes. There was nothing ILLEGAL about the surveillance or the unmasking. But there’s a long road between illegal and WRONG.
Susan Rice abused the power of her office to help get Hillary elected.
CNN’s Don Lemon said that covering the story would “insult your intelligence” and “aid and abet the people who are trying to misinform you, the American people.”
I mean … never mind that if it had been a Republican administration doing the unmasking, these media whores would be spewing spittle and outrage. Why should we listen to, much less BELIEVE these people after they spent MONTHS insulting our intelligence about Russia?!
The State Department announced it is cutting funding to the U.N. Population Fund, because the UNFPA* “supports, or participates in the management of, a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.”
The “program” refers to China’s brutal one-child policy that has led to the nation aborting 400 million of its own children. This number is NOT a wild-eyed, anti-abortion exaggeration, but the number the Chinese government actually BRAGS about.
The woman in this photo tried to hide her illegal second pregnancy, because the couple could not afford to pay the government’s fine. When she got caught, her 7-month old fetus was ripped from her body and she was then forced to lie in the bed with the corpse as punishment.
The State Department said the $32.5 million in UNFPA “core” funding in the 2017 budget will be transferred to non-coercive family planning programs at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
It is not yet clear whether the U.N. fund will also lose out on tens of millions of additional dollars it has typically received from the U.S. in “non-core” funds.
*For some reason, the U.N. acronym still uses the old name — United Nations Fund for Population Activities.
