Iowahawk explains Russian “hacking”

1/ John Podesta, like 100% of everyone who has ever had a email account, received a password phishing email. He fell for it.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

2/ According to some accounts, the phishing email had Russian fingerprints/ characteristics in its metadata.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

3/ whatever the case, the password purloiners downloaded his emails, which eventually got into the hands of Wikileaks, who made them public.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

4/ The emails were mildly embarrassing, revealing frequent circle jerking between the DNC and journalists. Mostly embarrassing to media.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

5/ At the time of their release (Oct) they were hardly covered by any media, and largely dismissed as a big fat nothingburger.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

6/ Not one of the people whose emails were revealed has ever disputed their authenticity or provenance.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

7/ Fast forward to December. The October nothingburger has now magically transformed into “vote hacking” and “election hacking.”

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

8/ new narrative: treasonous Trump operatives conspired with Putin to hypnotically mesmerize Clinton voters into pulling the wrong lever.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

9/ This is not Alex Jones or angry conspiracy kook Facebook uncles, it’s the NYTs, the WaPo, our beloved State Radio.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

10/ how effective has this been? If polls are to be believed, 50%+ of Democrats believe the Russians literally modified vote tallies.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

11/ none of this is a defense of Trump, or his garbage kleptocrat pal Putin. It’s an indictment of our garbage narrative-driven media.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) December 30, 2016

12/ it shouldn’t have to take a drunk internet nobody to point any of this out, but hey, here we are.

Crying out to God on Capitol Hill

Photo: Senate Chaplain Barry Black, a former Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy, is the first African-American and the first Seventh-day Adventist to be elected to the Senate chaplaincy.

Ted Cruz recently held a prayer meeting with conservative pastors and members of Congress to pray against Satan’s power.

They prayed in the Kennedy Caucus Room in the Capitol and in the U.S. Senate chamber.

“We got on our knees… and it sounded almost like a labor room as people were crying out to God for the revival that Chaplain Black believes is coming and that we believe is coming,” Pastor Dave Kistler said.

“To do that in the Senate chamber was an absolutely astounding opportunity,” he added. “And again it puts an exclamation point on the Senate chaplain’s assessment that revival is on the way and may indeed begin in the halls of Congress.”

The Socialist Disaster in Venezuela

In addition to hunger, Venezuela now suffers from triple-digit inflation and has the second highest murder rate in the world.

So many murders go unsolved that people have turned to lynch mobs to seek justice.  Angry mobs not only kill murderers and rapists, but increasingly attack petty criminals too, with police often turning a blind eye.

Even the Venezuelans who once voted for socialism, believing it would provide them with subsidized food, cheap housing, labor protection, and free education, are now fleeing the country.

One of them, Edgar Leon, now stands on a street corner in the Dominican Republic selling snacks and lemonade out of a bucket to support his wife and children back home.

Speaking of his home country, he says, “We were a rich nation. I never wanted to leave my country. I can’t go back there, not how it is now. It’s a disaster.”

Leon has no plans to return to Venezuela. He hopes instead to be able to afford a larger apartment so he can bring his family to live with him in the Dominican Republic.

Operation Choke Point

Operation Choke Point is an initiative of the United States Department of Justice that was disclosed in 2013 aimed at pressuring the financial industry to cut off targeted companies’ access to banking services.

The Obama DOJ has been doing this without first having shown that the targeted companies are violating the law.

Critics say, “It’s a thinly veiled ideological attack on industries the Obama administration doesn’t like, such as gun sellers and coal producers.”

How Soros Destroyed the Democratic Party

“Money poured into the fringe organizations of the left like MoveOn, which had moved on from a petition site to a PAC. In 2004, Soros was its biggest donor. He didn’t manage to bring down Bush, but he helped buy the Democratic Party as a toy for his yowling dorm room of left-wing activists to play with.

“Soros hasn’t had a great track record at buying presidential elections. The official $25 million he poured into this one bought him his worst defeat since 2004. But his money did transform the Democrat Party.

“And killed it. …

“And the Democrats don’t intend to change course. The way is being cleared for Keith Ellison, the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus with an ugly racist past, to head the DNC. Pelosi will oversee the disaster in the House. And Obama will remain the party’s highest profile national figure.

“There could hardly be a clearer signal that the left intends to retain its donkey herding rights. Soros and his ilk have paid for the reins.”

Must-read essay by a Jewish-American mom living in the West Bank

Arabs living in Israel have more freedom, more education, more democracy, more of a voice and more opportunity than in the thousands and thousands of miles of stretches of the many Arab countries in the Middle East. Jews no longer exist in those countries because of the racism/apartheid against them that is so rampant, so commonplace and yet, has not warranted a single speech in the UN or from the White House condemning it. …

Annexation would end the dispute over disputed territories. It would give full rights to those living in the areas known as “post 1967” lines. It would allow Jews and Arabs to buy land and build where they live. And to argue and disagree and VOTE. And make the system better over time. With a real democracy. It would allow women to become doctors and lawyers and famous news anchors, just like the Arab female role models Israel already has! It would allow Israel to throw out and deport all terrorists. Freeing the Palestinian people of the terrorists in their midst just as much as it would free Jews. Equal opportunity banishing of bad guys. Because I believe that non-terrorist Palestinians don’t want to live among terrorists, or be ruled by terrorists, or have to shelter terrorists. …

“Annexation would yes, “water down” my Jewish demographic. But that doesn’t bother me and it doesn’t scare me. You have just assumed that it would because of your racist prejudices against me. I would rather see people of all faiths live on the one island of democracy, freedom and hope that exists in the middle of an insanely mad world of violence, death, clitorectomies, child brides and much worse that is the Middle East today, than hand Palestinians over to the hands of thug leaders they don’t like or respect, they only fear and have to obey. Which is what those not blessed to be in Israel proper today have to suffer from.”

Daily Dose of Depression, Disgust

Three more weeks. Three more gut-wrenching, agonizing weeks of putting up the sorry excuse for a human that’s been defecating on the nation for the last eight years. You can bet he’ll raise as much hell as possible until the last minute of the last day. Yesterday he unilaterally (and likely illegally) expelled 35 Russian diplomats in retaliation for interfering with Hillary’s ascent to the throne. That he has absolutely no proof is of no import, he’s never needed it. He has also imposed sanctions on the Russians, although Putin is laughing him off as a joke who’ll be gone soon.

He’s doing what he can to poison international relations ahead of Trump’s attempts to enlist the Russkies as an ally to combat terrorism. Paul Ryan, McConnell, McCain, and Graham, quislings all, are screaming for even harsher sanctions against the the godless commies. My personal opinion is that Putin only respects people of strength, which he’s always known Obama not to be. That’s why he’s flexed his muscle throughout Eastern Europe. Considering Russia is a third world country with a first world military he may recognize PEOTUS is not someone to trifle with. Just a guess on my part.

Nearing exit, Obama seeks to tie Trump’s hands
President Obama has taken a flurry of unilateral actions in the waning days of his tenure that appear designed to box in President-elect Donald Trump.
Obama’s decision Thursday to sanction Russian entities for election-related hacking is just the latest obstacle he has placed in Trump’s way.
Day before the sanctions were unveiled, the Obama administration allowed the U.N. Security Council to condemn Israeli settlement activity – something that could have an indelible impact on the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
Obama has also permanently banned oil and gas drilling large swaths of the Atlantic and Arctic oceans, closed off 1.6 million acres of Western land to development and scrapped the last vestiges of a registration system used largely on Muslim immigrants.

The Origins of International Law

Catholic theologians used Catholic doctrine to condemn mistreatment of New World natives during the Age of Discovery. Their writings formed the basis of international law, a concept that did not exist at the time.

An excerpt from How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Thomas E. Woods, Jr. (p. 153) [Regnery, 2005] —

That injustices were committed in the conquest of the New World no serious person will deny, and priests at the time chronicled and condemned them.

But it is natural that we should wish to find some silver lining, some mitigating factor, amid the demographic tragedy that struck the peoples of the New World during the Age of Discovery.

And that silver lining was that the encounters between these peoples provided an especially opportune moment for moralists to discuss and develop the fundamental principles that must govern their interaction.

In this task they were aided enormously by the painstaking moral analysis of Catholic theologians teaching in Spanish universities.

As Hanke rightly concludes,

“The ideals which some Spaniards sought to put into practice as they opened up the New World will never lose their shining brightness as long as men believe that other peoples have a right to live, that just methods may be found for the conduct of relations between peoples, and that essentially all the peoples of the world are men.”

These are ideas with which the West has identified for centuries, and they come to us directly from the best of Catholic thought.

Thus do we have another pillar of Western civilization constructed by the Catholic Church.
