My dream team!!

Cruz Fionina 2016

From Carly’s Facebook:

I’m proud to announce that I’m joining Ted Cruz’s campaign as his nominee for Vice President. And I wanted to tell you why:

It’s clear the media elites are ready to anoint Donald Trump the Republican nominee before this race is even over. It’s also clear, to you and me, that Donald Trump’s nomination would be a disaster for conservatives.

If Trump is our nominee, conservatives will be forced to choose between two liberals in November: both corrupt, both big government crony capitalists, both part of the system that has gotten us in the mess we’re in.

Worse, if we nominate Donald Trump, we would be guaranteeing four years of Hillary Clinton in the White House.

Over the past five weeks, I’ve traveled the country with Senator Cruz and his wife Heidi. I have come to know him and his family. I know the Ted Cruz the media won’t tell you about–the loving father, the devoted husband, the movie buff. (Did you know he can recite every single line from The Princess Bride?)

Ted Cruz is a constitutional conservative who has made enemies in both parties—because he’s dared to stand up to bipartisan corruption in Washington.

He has fought tirelessly to change the system. And I know, if elected, he will bring back American jobs, protect our constitutional freedoms, and defend our nation.

Our country is being taken away by the elites, the crony capitalists, and the special interests that have captured both parties. They want to take away what we treasure about this nation.

As I said many times before, we need to take our country back in 2016. I wholeheartedly believe Ted Cruz is the man to lead that fight. And I am prepared to give everything I have to ensure we defeat Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

The stakes in this fight are higher than ever.

It’s about whether we want our kids to be able to get a good paying job when they get out of school. It’s about whether we will stand up for religious liberty and our second amendment. It’s about whether we want to live in a nation that secures its borders and calls Islamic terrorism by its name.

It’s about the future of the American people, the character of our nation, and the great country we must rebuild together.

This is why we fight. Join us at

  1. Figured you’d be pleased by this! I am aw well. Don’t know if it’ll help with the remaining primaries and convention, but it’s a solid choice for both of them.

  2. It was pretty much my dream team as well, but sadly, I don’t think there’s a shot any more.

Maybe. But Catholic moral teaching says we must do what is best, regardless of the potential outcome. We’re not commanded to win the war; Jesus did that already. We’re only commanded to do our bit.

When I was confirmed, way back in ancient times, they told us it meant we were enlisting in God’s Army. I liked the idea of being a Soldier for Christ. I’ve got the heart of a warrior, if not the body.

I learned a lot about serving in God’s Army watching my kids in the U.S. military and also from the many WWII movies I’ve watched about small groups of people who did heroic deeds on their little patch that, after it was all over and people had time to reflect, proved to be crucial to the Allied victory.

      • I could not argue with you about any of that. I, like you, have fought for the right candidates (Alan Keyes, Santorum, Carson, etc.) and mourned when they were rejected every time by our pathetic, immoral electorate. Gruntessa and I just lamented this again yesterday in a long “What’s wrong with this country?” conversation.

So, after we have lost the fight (and I maintain we have already lost this one), what do we do? I think we need to go vote for the remaining best possible, least evil, narcissist in the contest. That’s what I’m going to do, anyway. And that will probably be Trump.

Our only alternative for moral purity is to stay out of it completely, and I know that’s probably what you’re going to do, in the end. That’s fine. But keep in mind that even this Cruz-Fiorina ticket is not morally pure. I despise Carly’s position on the “greatness” of Islamic culture, and last time I noticed in California, I thought she was pro-choice. Even Cruz has disappointed me on his moral stands, recently. Many of his accusations have just simply been lies, and he’s resorted to a few leftist tactics that I abhor. But I’ll still vote for him, if he gets past this convention by some miracle.

Yes, you are right that Carly was pro-choice in CA and did not want “help” from conservatives in that election. She also left that campaign with several hundred thousand dollars in debt for years and only paid it off when she decided to run for POTUS. The debt was all to small business people, and during that time she paid about 5 million or so in cash for waterfront property in Virginia. She plans to run for something here in VA next – governor or Senator, I’m not sure she has decided which one yet. But notice that no business has hired her in years and years because she really did deserve to be fired from Hewlett-Packard. I am not impressed.

There is not a single candidate in this race who has come out of it looking good, so it will once again be the lesser of evils for me. I’m used to it, though. I cannot recall being enthusiastic about voting for anyone in the past 25 years except for Dave Brat.
