WE ARE SIMPATICO

It is gratifying to know that my fellow blogger and bestest buddy CtH shares the deep disappointment I’m sure many of us feel about Sarah Palin endorsing The Donald. I have never been ambiguous about my feelings toward Trump. I enjoy watching him slap the media around but I don’t trust him one iota. He’s not running because he wants to make things better, he’s running for the attention. He laps it up like a thirsty hound. Sarah threw away years of goodwill with her joining the circus that is the Trump campaign. My guess, which is as good as anybody’s, is that Palin has been screwed over by the GOPe so badly she’s only in it for herself now. I doubt she will be his VP candidate, given that the left’s vitriol toward her is still an all-consuming fire. I do, however, think he’s promised her a position, perhaps as Energy secretary. Trump is using ethanol subsidies to pander for votes in Iowa, even though it’s a fact (Algore admitted it) that ethanol does nothing for gas and he lied about it just to get votes in 2000. Meanwhile, underdeveloped countries are starving for the corn that once was used for food that now is wasted in refining fossil fuels.

Sarah Palin Just Threw Away Years of Goodwill as a Principled Conservative

While Trump has been sharply criticized by many (including me) for his lack of support for conservative principles on many issues, Palin has been viewed as a conservative standard-bearer ever since she first appeared on the national scene in 2008. Much of Palin’s popularity with tea partiers and conservative activists comes from her willingness to be a strong voice for conservative principles, and sadly, today’s endorsement stands in direct contradiction to many of Palin’s own words over the years.

On abortion On eminent domain On mocking people with disabilities On flip-flopping politicians

Today, Palin is standing in Ames, Iowa to put her support behind someone who cannot be trusted to protect the unborn, who has twice traded in his wives for younger models (literally), who claims to be for the “little guy” but who has been all too willing to use government as a hired thug to line his own pockets, and who spent years making significant donations to Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee.

I miss the Sarah Palin I thought I knew. I miss the tough-talking governor who energized the 2008 ticket. I miss the tea party champion. I miss the brave woman who didn’t just talk the talk, but walked the walk on the pro-life issue, no matter how nasty the attacks on her and her family. I don’t know where this Sarah Palin went, but she wasn’t in Iowa today.

Trump’s Support for Ethanol Is Bad for Taxpayers and Their Cars

One of the most destructive environmental subsidies in the United States has found an enthusiastic supporter in Donald Trump. “The EPA should ensure that biofuel . . . blend levels match the statutory level set by Congress,” he said yesterday in Iowa, adding that he was “there with you 100 percent” on continuing federal support for ethanol. “You’re going to get a really fair shake from me.”
Trump’s support for ethanol may win him votes in Iowa, but federal support for ethanol is a bum deal for Americans.

    • I’ll concede this one, Trump’s being a Pander Bear. Ethanol subsidies are ridiculous, and are just as important as unfettered illegal immigration and Muslim terrorism and a crippling national debt.

What’s that? Ethanol subsidies AREN’T as important as those other things? Well, now I’m confused, I guess I’ll have to embrace illegals if it means less money goes to Iowa farmers.

If ethanol subsidies get you elected and don’t break America in the process … meh. Trump’s a sellout. Stop the presses.

I like Fiorina’s position … let the market sort out the energy issue. I support some level of government oversight for the purposes of protecting consumers … something the EPA appears to do very badly, if at all … but oppose having politicians funnel other people’s money into supporting specific companies and technologies.

Speaker Ryan’s Immigration Strategy Allows Obama to Issue Visas to 300,00 Muslim Migrants Each Year

JUST THINK…THIS SHITHEAD WAS OUR VP CANDIDATE IN 2012.JUST ANOTHER BACKSTABBING TURD
On Wednesday, Senate Democrats successfully and predictably blocked what many conservatives described as Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)’s “Show Vote’”on refugee admissions.

It has been called a show vote because the Ryan plan, even if the President signed it, would still allow the President to bring in an unlimited number of refugees from an unlimited number of countries.

    • As I understand it (YMMV), Communism advocates State ownership as well as redistribution, while Socialism allows for private property but still mandates wealth confiscation and redistribution.

Bernie is on records a couple decades back as advocating State control of the oil industry (a la Venezuela) and the utilities, so by definition he’s a Communist. We should identify him as such.

Pointing to Sweden or Denmark as a role model for America is simply ludicrous, unless we assume those two lily-white nations accurately represent America’s welfare demographic.

Of course, both these European Socialist nations are now Dead Men Walking, since Muslims = Blacks and Mexicans in the Section 8 / Food Stamp pool.

I have heard they are also walking back sharply from their failed attempts at government running everything.

    • One more thing: I have an old acquaintance from high school who’s all in for Bernie. I suggested she give 70% of her income away to people in the community more in need than her. She didn’t understand the comment.

It’s both amusing and depressing how everybody in love with Bernie always thinks it’s that other guy’s money to be confiscated, never their own.

      • I’m sorry to say that I also have a shocking number of friends who are all in for Bernie — he’s what they’ve been waiting for all their lives, it seems. These poor deluded schmucks honestly think that it should be the government’s job to take care of everyone — not individuals, not families, not churches, not communities, not private charitable organizations. Sigh…

AG Lynch Has Not Decided Whether to Turn Over Fast and Furious Documents
I GOT MY HOMEYS BACK…IT AIN’T NOTHIN’ BUT A THANG

COURT ORDERS,LAWS,THE CONSTITUTION MEAN NOTHING TO THESE PEOPLE.
THAT’S WHY HILLARY HAS NO FEAR OF EVER BEING PROSECUTED
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Wednesday she has received a federal court ruling that says the Justice Department may not invoke executive privilege to withhold documents from a congressional committee investigating the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal.

But that doesn’t mean the Justice Department will now give those subpoenaed documents to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Students Boycott High School’s Required ‘Racial Identity’ Day
    THIS SADDENS AND SICKENS ME

The suburban Chicago high school, which ranks among the top public high schools in the country, held class on the public holiday, and scheduled seminars on “systemic racism” that sought to increase students’ awareness “of their own racial identities and the identities of others.”

But students stayed away in droves.

One parent, whose daughter is biracial, told Breitbart News that her daughter had deliberately avoided the program for fear of being singled out and forced to define herself by her skin color.
The New Trier program approached race from an exclusively left-wing perspective, in violation of district policy.

Seminars included: “The Truth about Ferguson: The Investigation into the Death of Michael Brown,” “Why Do I Have to Feel Guilty for Being White?”, and “Western Bias in Science.” One poster hung inside the school (above) quoted author Toni Morrison: “In this country American means white. Everybody else has to hyphenate.”

ISN’T TONI MORRISON THE ONE WHO CALLED BENT PENIS ‘THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT?’

Group Threatens Lawsuits Against 37 Counties With Suspicious Voter Rolls
WELL,DUH….HOW ELSE ARE DEMOCRATS SUPPOSED TO WIN?

Firm threatens to bring litigation if voter rolls are not purged
The Public Interest Legal Foundation, an election integrity group based in Indiana, sent the statutory notice letters on Jan. 19 to election officials spanning 37 counties in six different states. The group says that by failing to purge names from the rolls, the counties are failing to comply with the National Voter Registration Act.

“Voter rolls across America contain substantial numbers of ineligible voters, resulting in the possible disenfranchisement of legally eligible voters via ballot dilution that threatens to taint the integrity of the election process,” the notice letters says.

    • I applaud their efforts, but I’m from Indiana and it’s gonna go red regardless of voter shenanigans.

I clicked the link, and of 141 letters they sent out in August, exactly one has promised to clean up the voter rolls. They haven’t done it yet, but they “promised.”

      The other 140 (+ the recent 37) counties haven’t responded. WHOO-HOO, VICTORY LAP!!1!

Detroit Teachers Stage Mass Sickout On Day Of Obama’s Visit…

THEY THINK OBAMA GIVES A DAMN ABOUT THEIR GRIPING ABOUT THE REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR
More than 85 schools across the city are closed Wednesday because of excessive teacher absences — the largest in a string of recent sickouts meant to call attention to high class sizes, dilapidated buildings and other problems in Michigan’s largest school district.
Cass Tech teacher and activist Steve Conn says teachers are planning to participate in a march along Gratiot, ending outside Cobo Center where President Obama will be attending the auto show.

“We have got to stop this whole business by Snyder, which is an attempt just further the charters and further, really, the destruction of education in the city. We are determined to win that fight. The whole next generation relies on it,” said Conn.

Hillary Clinton Super PAC’s Statement on Trump’s Palin Endorsement Is Just a Mocking Smiley Face

The pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC Priorities USA officially responded to Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Donald Trump by releasing a graphic of a smiley face pointing and laughing.

Unable, apparently, to string together a couple sentences, the PAC instead released a mocking image.
Liberals and Democrats in the post-Jon Stewart Age frequently fail to argue substantive points, but rather use the strategy of empty ad hominem attacks to insult conservatives without actually saying anything meaningful.

Pete, you and I agree on a lot politically, notwithstanding we’re both “seasoned” citizens, we both used to play music and we both had paper delivery routes for several years. But I’m 180º from you on this.

I lost all respect for Palin several years ago, when she had a chance to help save our country but instead decided to become a TV star. Bristol preaches abstinence but pops out babies. Track gets in bar fights.

I realized a few years back that you can take the girl out of the beauty pageant, but you can’t take the pageant out of the girl. Sarah “Showbiz” Palin is all about the mega-rallies and the TV exposure, i.e. the Trump Train. Anything else is boring and beneath her.

Meanwhile, Trump is kicking ass and taking names. Who’s our alternative? Cruz? Look at the endless character assassination over at Conservative Treehouse, every claim of which is backed up by copious sourcing. Cruz hasn’t actually accomplished shit in his time in the Senate — no coalitions, no compromises, no meaningful or even incidental legislation. Teddy, Teddy, give us SOMETHING to point to!!

Or Rubio? I think we all know the Gang-of-8 reasons that’s not gonna work. I think Christie’s the strongest of the also-rans, but he has no chance at the nomination, nor do any of the others. So who are we left with?

Trump is an unconscionable blowhard; I’ve said before, he’s like Bugs Bunny running for President. But Andrew Breitbart is dead (aka murdered), Victor David Hansen isn’t running, and Ann Coulter is too polarizing. We’ve got to play the cards we’re dealt.

Speaking of Coulter, are you concluding certain people who live and breathe politics 24/7 are just missing the bigger picture with Trump? He’s starting to rack up endorsements by a few key players on our side, and his endorsement calendar’s going to explode after New Hampshire. At what point will the naysayers get on board? Or are we doomed to a fractured party, since George Will and Bill Kristol have said they’ll sit it out rather than vote for Trump as the Republican nominee?

Bush I, Clinton, Bush II … of our Presidents over the past 30 years, only Obama has actually accomplished what he promised. If Trump betrays The American Dream, it won’t be the first time that’s happened recently. I’m willing to trust somebody who promises greatness over someone content to nibble around the edges of the Plutocrat Beltway.

  12. Pete, that People Magazine quote from Trump calling Republicans stupid is completely bogus. The most rudimentary Google search will reveal that fact, but I would assume you’re politically astute enough to recognize an obviously fraudulent meme without the search. Does that honestly sound like a real quote to you, from ANYONE who ever hopes to deal with any Republican in his business or political future?

It’s not cool when you help spread their lies.
