Movie Recommendations

The real people behind these stories were involved in the making of each movie and are interviewed in the Special Features.  I recommend both the movies and the specials.

These are faith-based movies that made every effort to depict trauma and violence in ways that were not exploitative.  But the situations were horrifying, so use caution before allowing your youngsters to view either.

I have read 90 Minutes in Heaven and can recommend it; I have not read Unlikely Angel, so can’t say one way or the other.

For the eighth and final time our beloved leader will give a command performance, reading the lies others have written for him, as he has done his entire political life. In past SOTUs he has pretended to give a rat’s ass what Congress or the American people want. Boiled down to the basics it was, is, and will always be about him. I am not an influential member of the media but I can pretty much guess what some of his spewage will cover.

Gun control: He will upbraid the republicans for not whole-heartedly supporting his “common sense” gun grab, saying we must take guns out of people’s houses because accidents may happen. Also, his voters can break into your house, rob, beat, and likely murder you without fear. He would make the entire nation a “gun-free zone.” Of course he only has a year left but the socialists never stop attacking.

Economy: He will doubtless brag about the 5% unemployment rate, given there are 100 million working-age Americans not in the work force.

He will puff about all the new enrollees in Obamacare. This after he’s taken people’s preferred health plans away and forced them to take coverage that is either too expensive or the deductibles run into thousands and thousands of dollars before anything is covered. Being covered does not mean you have access to medical care in a timely manner. Plus, you are forced to take what he gives you or else you pay a penalty. Funny how that works.

He will whine about bringing more Muslim “refugees” here to further infest and endanger the public welfare. Oh, and Christians need not apply. In a final finger in the eye of the public there will be a “refugee” in the box with Barry’s brood sow.

Michelle Obama to Invite Syrian Refugee to SOTU Address on Tuesday

Michelle Obama, fresh off her latest Hawaiian vacation, will bring a Syrian refugee with her to Barack Obama’s final State of the Union Address on Tuesday.

Obama wants to admit another 10,000 Syrian refugees into the US before he leaves office.

It is unlikey the president will mention that Syrian “refugees” participated in the Paris ISIS massacre.

A Syrian scientist stricken with cancer and seeking a new start for his family in Michigan will represent Syrian refugees as a guest of first lady Michelle Obama for the president’s final State of the Union address. Refaai Hamo, his son and three daughters landed at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in December, anxious to rebuild their lives. Hamo fled to Turkey from Syria after a missile attack killed his wife and one other daughter. He was profiled on the popular photo blog Humans of New York as “The Scientist.”

Notice, if you will, that he has nice gray hair without the scraggly lice-infested beard that most of these terrorists do.

Syrian Refugee, American Muslim, DREAMer, Gay Activist, Join Michelle Obama for State of the Union

As President Obama delivers a defensive State of the Union address, a select group of Americans who are aligned with his agenda will be watching from First Lady Michelle Obama’s box as guests.

This year’s carefully selected guests include a former illegal immigrant, a gay marriage activist, a Syrian refugee, and a Muslim-American.

Democrats Invite CAIR Officials to State of Union

Two officials from the Council on American-Islamic Relations will be attending the State of the Union address Tuesday as guests of Democratic lawmakers.

Reps. Zoe Lofgren (Calif.) and Alcee Hastings (Fla.) will both be hosting representatives from CAIR chapters in their respective states, the group announced Monday.

Lofgren will be bringing Sameena Usman, a government relations coordinator in the San Francisco office, while Hastings will host Nezar Hamze, the chief operating officer of the nonprofit’s Florida branch.

The Lamest Duck

President Obama spent the week defending his proposals to curb gun violence, culminating in a CNN town hall. Think about that. What else happened during the last few days that might warrant a presidential town hall? Oh, nothing much: Iranian protesters stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran after the House of Saud executed a Shiite cleric, escalating sectarian warfare in the Middle East The stock market tumbled on fears of a global economic slowdown A U.S. soldier was killed in action in Afghanistan, where the Taliban controls more ground than at any time since 2001 Iran revealed the existence of an underground ballistic-missile launch site

OBAMA: What I think Mark is alluding to is what I said earlier — this notion of a conspiracy out there, and it gets wrapped up in concerns about the federal government. Now, there’s a long history of that. That’s in our DNA. The United States was born suspicious of some distant authority.

Empty chair to represent victims of gun violence at SOTU; social media fires back with better ideas
The Obama administration’s attempt to dramatically make a point about gun violence at Tuesday’s State of the Union address drew harsh criticism across social media.

Along with the guests invited to sit with the First Lady in her viewing box to watch the president’s final State of the Union will be an empty chair to honor victims of gun violence. The White House released the guest list, which can be viewed at WhiteHouse.gov, explaining that those chosen “exemplify the themes and ideals that the President lays out in his address.”

Instead of the empty chair at the #SOTU tomorrow representing victims of gun violence, it should represent Obama’s nonexistent leadership.

Mike Darancette ‎@Mhdaran

@benshapiro “Empty chair” in the audience “empty suit” at the podium.

Hey 0bama! How about an empty chair for Ambassador Chris Stephens at your “I, I, Me, I, ME, I, I,” speech?

The cop who was shot in Philly should be sitting in the “empty chair” at the #SOTU to show how you defend yourself

If I’m elected POTUS, there’ll be an empty seat for the over 50 million unborn children killed since Roe #Stand4Life

Kevin D. Williamson ‎@KevinNR

I do wish @SpeakerRyan would disinvite @POTUS. He holds Congress in contempt; let him give SOTU from Oval Office. Or Denny’s for all I care.

The State of the Union Is NOT Sound: The Illusion of Obama’s Economic ‘Recovery’
Unemployment has been halved from 10 percent in 2009 to just 5 percent today, the federal deficit has been whittled down from $1.4 trillion in 2009 to under $439 billion in 2015, the stock market has enjoyed some of its best years ever, and gas is cheap — resulting in the auto industry’s record sales in 2015 after nearly going under completely in 2008.

These things are true, but they are an illusion of success. They look good only on Obama’s teleprompter.

The State of the Union is NOT Sound: Part Two

Obama’s legacy of mass dependency, racial division, and anti-government fury
After seven divisive years in office, President Obama is leaving America a bequest of mass dependency, racial division and anti-government fury. The “president of cool” is the king of chaos.

The ability of Americans to care for themselves has declined significantly under Obama, with the number on welfare soaring since he took office. According to U.S. census data, there was an average of 96,197,000 people enrolled in one or more means-tested programs in the fourth quarter of 2008. In 2012, the last year for which the Census Bureau has data available online, there was an average of 109,631,000 Americans in these programs

FLASHBACK—Obama’s First Speech to Congress: We Can’t Pass on to Our Children a Debt They Can’t Pay

“There is, of course, another responsibility we have to our children,” Obama said in that speech. “And that’s the responsibility to ensure that we do not pass on to them a debt they cannot pay. That is critical.”

At this point, a chuckling Obama paused to accept a standing ovation from the chamber. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was sitting behind the podium, was one of the first to stand and applaud.
