You first, Mr. President!

OBAMA guns you first

John Lott says that, when he met then-lecturer Barack Obama at the University of Chicago in the 1990s, Obama said, “I don’t believe people should be able to own guns.”  When he tried to talk to Obama about gun rights, Obama “grimaced and walked away.”

“He did not come across as a moderate who wanted to bring people together,” Lott recalls.

Since that time, Lott has watched Obama act on his anti-gun beliefs, noting that Obama has consistently opposed concealed carry and the use of guns for self defense.

Lott believes Obama’s current lip service to the Second Amendment is part of an overarching Democrat strategy to get elected so they can continue destroying the Second Amendment.

John R. Lott, Jr. is an economist who has held research and/or teaching positions at the University of Chicago, Yale University, Stanford, UCLA, Wharton, and Rice and was the chief economist at the United States Sentencing Commission during 1988 and 1989. He has published more than 100 articles in academic journals. He also is the author of seven books; his newest is At the Brink: Will Obama Push Us Over the Edge? His past books have included three editions of More Guns, Less Crime and Freedomnomics.

  1. There must be someone else somewhere in the world besides Obama with whom I disagree on every single utterance, but off-hand I can’t imagine who it could be. Compared to Obama, Vladimir Putin is my ideological brother. Compared to Obama, at least Hitler could paint. Compared to Obama, Lizzie Borden was skilled with an axe and Hannibal liked elephants.

    • And after all this time, I hear he still sucks at golf.

My father taught and coached golf at Cornell. He and my mom were founding members of the Ithaca Country Club. For someone who doesn’t actually enjoy the game, I do know a thing or two about what a good swing should look like. His isn’t that.

Funny true tale … I once went on a double date to a miniature golf course. With our winters, this isn’t a big thing around here, so we hadn’t done it before. I beat the other 3 rather badly.

The boys’ egos were somewhat bruised by this. When one of them remarked on my low score, I very sweetly smiles and said, “Oh, didn’t I tell you that my father is a golf coach at Cornell?”

The looks. BWAHAHAHA. Little wonder the women in my family marry late. Only real MEN can deal with us. 🙂

Hmm … had to google Hannibal. I was right in remembering his elephants helped him achieve his military goals … but I forgot that all the elephants died in the process.

“At least Hitler could paint” BWAHAHAHA … now I’m wondering. Obama loves to imagine that he’s good at golf and basketball. But I’ve watched clips of him and he’s not. As an art history major raised by a house full of passionate jocks … I am forced to wonder. Was Hitler’s art work less bad, as bad, or worse than Obama’s athletic abilities?

    • He did say something I agreed with once, when he called Kanye West a jackass.
