Another government thumbs up for fracking safety

Former Energy Secretary Steven Chu and current Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz have BOTH said that fracking is safe.

And former Environmental Protection Agency [EPA] Administrator Lisa Jackson told Congress she was “not aware of any proven case where the fracking process itself has affected water.

Now, a new report from British Department of Health says,

Contamination of groundwater from the underground fracking process itself (i.e., the fracturing of the shale) is unlikely. Surface spills of fracking fluids or waste water may affect groundwater; and emissions to air also have the potential to impact on health. [But] reported problems are typically a result of operational failure and a poor regulatory environment.”

British DoH Summary:

Potential risks to public health from exposure to emissions associated with the shale gas extraction process [aka, fracking] are low if operations are properly run and regulated.

If you have not seen FrackNation yet, then you don’t really have all the fracking facts.

Water salute for warrior on board

Report by “Johnny Jet” at travel.yahoo.com (bold added by CtH, blogging through tears):

Delta Flight 2255 from Atlanta to Los Angeles seemed to be an ordinary flight with the exception of Candy, who was the most loving flight attendant I’ve ever encountered. Besides using her Southern charm to quickly defuse every situation, she began her welcome announcement by thanking the handful of uniformed soldiers on-board for serving our country. Her poignant message was followed by applause, and it put into perspective that none of us would be able to do what we do without these brave men and women.

But this transcontinental flight turned out to be everything but ordinary. We later learned, when the captain got on the PA system about 45 minutes prior to landing, that we were transporting a fallen soldier. The plane went quiet as he explained that there was a military escort on-board and asked that everyone remain seated for a couple of minutes so the soldiers could get off first. He also warned us not to be alarmed if we see fire trucks since Los Angeles greets their fallen military with a water canon salute. See my video below.

A few minutes after touchdown, we did indeed have a water canon salute, which I’d previously only experienced on happy occasions like inaugural flights. This time, the water glistening on the windowpanes looked like tears.

I was on the left side of the plane and later realized that the family could be seen off to the right, standing with the United States Army Honor Guard. According to Wikipedia, each military branch has its own honor guard, usually military in nature, and is composed of volunteers who are carefully screened. One of the primary roles for honor guards is to provide funeral honors for fallen comrades.

Fallen Soldier on My Delta Flight [:41]

When the jet door opened, another military officer addressed the escort who was standing at attention. He then stepped on the plane and told us passengers “I just addressed the escort. It is a sworn oath to bring home, to the family, the fallen.” He paused and then said, “Today you all did that, you are all escorts, escorts of the heart.” And then thanked us for our time and walked off the plane.

It only got more emotional when I deplaned. There was a large number of passengers, who are normally in a hurry to get home or make a connection, standing by the window to witness something truly moving. To see the Honor Guard and family waiting patiently, while LAX baggage handlers and a military loadmaster removed the flag covered casket first from the cargo hold, was humbling to say the least. I’m not sure if it was the fallen soldier’s mother or wife who I watched slowly walk up to the coffin while a few other family members, wrapped in blankets, stood near with a dozen or so of the Honor Guards standing in salute.

Coming home

As soon as I saw her reach out to put her hand on her baby’s casket, I walked away.

This ordinary flight became extraordinary and is one that I will never forget.

Thank you to all the military who protect our beautiful country and let us live the lives we are able to lead. Without you we would be nothing. And thank you to the Honor Guard for making sure these fallen soldiers, warriors and heroes are not treated like just any piece of luggage as they used to, but rather with the care and respect they so rightly deserve.

According to documents released by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, only six people signed up for health insurance at healthcare.gov on the first day.

SIX people signed up? You can’t field a baseball team with six people! [:44]

They got about 90 more on day two and about 150 more on day three. They need 38,461 PAYING customers per day, 7 days a week, from Oct 1 through the end of March.

At the end of the first month, even worse news emerges … the vast majority of new sign-ups are for MEDICAID. News flash: Insurance only works if most of the people pay money IN and only a small number take money OUT. Medicaid enrollees pay nothing in.

The BEST news on that video … if they don’t get enough people, “it’s not gonna happen.” That sounds to me like we don’t need Congress to defund it or SCOTUS to strike it down. We just need to BOYCOTT IT.

With the masses waking up to the consummate fraud that is Barack Hussein Obama,it will be interesting to see what kinds of excuses will be proffered on the talking head gabfests. Granted,we’re stuck with this dipstick for 3 more agonizing years, but I just don’t see how they’ll be able to keep Obamacare in place when nobody’s signing up for it. Maybe the young, naive ninnies who voted for him twice are realizing how badly he’s been intending to screw them all along. We’ve had good presidents and bad presidents, but I don’t think we’ve ever had one whose intent was to inflict pain on the entire country. He’s already done massive, irreparable damage. Let’s hope it’s not too late for us to recover.

OK,enough of the….enjoy your Friday!

Disgraceful behavior at Temple Mount

I found the article below at the Jerusalem Post. I hope you’ll take the time to read it. Bolding added by CtH.

Rights to the Temple Mount By David Kirshenbaum – October 15, 2013

It is time the police start enforcing the most basic of religious rights, for Jews as well as Muslims.

In a democracy that prides itself on upholding free religious expression, incitement, intimidation and the use of deadly violence to prevent such free expression should not be tolerated, and certainly not rewarded. It shouldn’t matter whether the violence is engaged in by members of the majority religion or by members of a religious minority.

Sadly, this principle is not followed in the State of Israel.

Judaism’s holiest site for over 3,000 years has been the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It is on the Temple Mount that both the First and Second Temples stood, where millions of Jews from all over the Israel and the Diaspora made the three Festival Pilgrimages and where, according to Jewish belief, the Third Temple, ushering in the days of the Messiah, is destined to be built. Throughout history, wherever Jews were engaged in prayer, they faced Jerusalem. And in Jerusalem, they pray in the direction of the Temple Mount.

Yet, even though the State of Israel is in full control of Jerusalem, Jews, Christians and all non-Muslims are forbidden entry to the Temple Mount, except during very limited hours. And during those few hours, Jews can only walk in near silence; they may not pray.

A member of the Wakf, the Muslim religious council, monitors the movements of Jewish visitors, and the Israel Police will arrest any Jew upon a complaint by a Wakf member that a Jew was praying on the Temple Mount.

This happened to me and my daughter when we visited the Temple Mount the day before her wedding.

Her swaying in silent meditation was enough to anger our Wakf monitor and land us in the police station for hours for threatening the public welfare.

Any discussion of changing this woeful crushing of religious freedom elicits threats of severe violence from the Wakf, Arab Knesset members and the Islamic Movement in Israel. This incitement works wonders, as Israeli law enforcement officials regularly cite these threats in defending their discriminatory treatment of Jews on the Temple Mount.

During Jewish holiday periods, the level of incitement is raised, often accompanied by the hurling of blocks of stone at Jews on the Temple Mount and at Jewish worshipers in the Western Wall Plaza.

This pattern repeated itself during the this past Succot.

Israeli police responded in the way they always do: They did not stand up to the violent lawbreakers and protect the basic religious rights of law-abiding Jews. Nor did they take the less challenging but less equitable option of closing down the Temple Mount to all.

While this would have unfairly punished Jewish worshipers, including Muslims in the ban might have at least served as a deterrence to future violence.

Some price would have been paid by the perpetrators of religious terror.

Instead, the police took the path that requires the least work, elicits the least resistance, and results in the greatest inequity. On three of the Festival days, police closed the Temple Mount, not to Muslims, but only to Jews and other non-Muslims. Hate and violence were rewarded.

On a recent post-Succot visit to the Temple Mount – I was one of those turned away during the holiday – the group of Jews I was with had to wait an hour until we were allowed in. The police felt unable to deal with more than 25 identifiably Jewish visitors at a time. While we waited for police approval, hundreds of tourists, mostly from Europe, flowed in without a problem.

When we finally entered, we were immediately greeted by taunting screams from tens of Arab women. The harassment of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount is part of their daily routine. Our group was led by Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, a member of the battalion of Paratroopers that liberated the Old City and the Temple Mount in the Six Day War.

Almost immediately, and frequently during the visit, Rabbi Ariel was spoken to rudely by the police, who didn’t like where he was standing or how fast or slow he was moving. At the end of the visit, as were exiting, Rabbi Ariel, who is 74 and battling cancer, was arrested and roughed up in the process.

What enraged the police and the Wakf was that Rabbi Ariel purportedly bowed down in a form of prayer.

The fear that the police have of the Arabs on the Temple Mount is palpable. When we were verbally assaulted by the Arabs upon our entry, the police made not the slightest effort to quiet them, this in marked distinction from their immediate and angry silencing of any form of Jewish prayer. Rather, their response was to quickly move us past the hateful bigots. And when we were again cursed near the end of our visit, the sole and frightened response of the police was to ask us to leave.

It is time the police start enforcing the most basic of religious rights, for Jews as well as Muslims, that our law enforcement authorities cease cowering in the face of Arab violence and stop their shameful hiding behind Muslim religious terror as an excuse for their failure to uphold the law.

Sarah Palin reports on ShamwØw in Beantown

President Obama flew in to Boston today to deliver another “ShamWow”-style infomercial for Obamacare, and it went about as well as his entourage’s snarled traffic debacle in Beantown.

As millions of Americans are being kicked off their desired insurance plans and seeing their premiums skyrocket, the President had a lot of ‘splaining to do today. For starters we anticipated a Presidential apology for lying to Americans repeatedly when he promised things like, “If you like your current health care plan, you can keep it.” Make no mistake, he knew he was lying when he said that. And make no further mistake, after five years of false Obama claims, no one should actually expect contrition on this administration’s part.

Bloomberg reports that in June of 2010, the administration knew millions would be kicked off existing healthcare plans due to Obamacare; but President Obama continued to knowingly deceive the American people with repeated claims that if we liked our current plan we could keep it.

So, finally busted, did the President apologize? Was remorse and sympathy shown for Americans who now can’t afford health insurance thanks to Obamacare? Nope.

He instead informed us that Americans who receive cancellation notices have been on “substandard” plans supplied by “bad apple” insurers. That’s right. Obama didn’t lie to you when he said, “if you like your plan, you can keep it.” Why? Because, you sillies, you DIDN’T REALLY like the plan you chose for yourselves! No arguing.

Barack Obama knows best and he’ll tell you whether you actually liked your insurance plan or not. If you’re an elderly bachelor, your old plan was clearly “substandard” because it didn’t offer maternity care. What’s that you say? You don’t need maternity care? Well, according to the President today, he says you do, and any insurance plan that doesn’t offer it is a “junk” plan provided by a “bad apple” insurer.

But don’t worry, the President also promised that only “rich” people making $250,000 or more will see their premium costs rise. This lie is so appalling and so easily debunked that the brazenness with which he made it is simply breathtaking.

But who will hold him accountable for it? Media, you know I love you… so let me help you save your hide with the American public by suggesting you fact-check that.

Despite the Obamacare rollout disaster and the broken government website (which HHS Secretary Sebelius admitted is a “debacle” in her testimony before Congress today), the President gleefully highlighted the few people signing up for Obamacare as indicative of his socialized medicine’s “success.”

He neglected to mention that the government is forcing Americans to sign up for his program or pay fines that will increase each year we fail to do so.

For sheer chutzpah, the President closed his speech by praising America’s “rugged individualism.” Because nothing says “rugged individualism” like heavy-handed big government forcing individuals to buy a product they don’t want and arrogantly telling them they didn’t really like the product they wisely chose for themselves and could afford.

Thanks for the infomercial, Mr. President. I don’t know anyone who wants your “ShamWow” product, but the IRS will make sure we call that toll free number or go online to order it right now…. well, just as soon as your impossibly broken $600 million website is fixed and your phones lines aren’t busy.

Happy with this, America? Make your voices heard. 2014 is just around the corner.

– Sarah Palin

P.S. Take a look at this article by Fox’s Eric Bolling:

As Eric asks, “If they can’t get a basic website up and running in three years… How on God’s green Earth are they going to administer health care to 300 million Americans? So, with billions upon billions of health related communications clearing through the government medicine portal annually, our very health will be hanging in the balance…Therefore, you must conclude: The Obama administration has our lives in their hands…Ask yourself… Do you trust President Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Kathleen Sebelius and Jay Carney with your life? I certainly do not!”

CtH: The comment I posted at Palin’s faebook … I read some judgmental ignoramus talking about how “compassionate” Obamacare is and how anyone who opposes it shouldn’t be called a Christian. ARGH.

Dh has not been able to afford health insurance since he chose to become self-employed. He provides a valuable service to the community at an affordable price … a price that firms big enough to include health insurance can’t do for what he charges.

The REASON we can’t afford a policy for him is that BC/BS has a monopoly in NYS. We are not ALLOWED to shop around and the policies here have been at the astronomical O’care prices for years and years.

So now that we have been “blessed” with the “Affordable” Care Act’s “compassion”, dh STILL can’t afford a health insurance policy, but now he’s going to be FINED by the IRS for not having one.

Dh was one of the people Obamacare was SUPPOSEDLY DESIGNED TO HELP. But it’s only made his situation WORSE. So excuse me if I don’t appreciate having the quality of my faith and compassion JUDGED because I think Obamacare SUCKS.

What we wanted was one of the half-dozen plans the Republicans put forward … those plans Democrats accused Republicans of not having … those plans the Democrat majority refused to discuss, debate or bring to a vote.

Those plans would have eliminated the NYS monopoly and allowed us to shop for an affordable, individual, catastrophic insurance plan in other states. These plans would have allowed individuals to claim the same tax deductions on health insurance premiums that employers got, making self-insurance more affordable.

Those two changes alone would’ve made an enormous difference to the people O’care CLAIMED to be about helping … the people like my husband who fell into the gap between “too rich for Medicaid, too poor for insurance.”

Too little too late

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, an unapologetic supporter of President Barack Obama and vituperative opponent of all things Republican, went on a surprising rant about the Benghazi terror attack on Monday, demanding to know why the U.S. government failed to send in “the Cavalry” to save American lives.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Wants Answers From Hillary, Obama On Benghazi [7:30]

We’ve been asking these questions since September 12, 2012. All along, Obama’s squad of butt snorkelers, Matthews among them, have been deaf to the questions, blind to the evidence and LOUD in their accusations of RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACISM by anyone who even mentioned the word Benghazi.

So forgive me if I don’t go all weak in the knees because Tingles has finally noticed … THIRTEEN MONTHS TOO LATE … that Obama and Clinton abandoned our guys and then lied about it again and again and again.

Obama’s NSA was eavesdropping on the Conclave!

Color me red as a cardinal’s cassock with indignation!

The UK Telegraph reports:

The National Security Agency monitored telephone calls and emails of many bishops and cardinals at the Vatican in the lead-up to the secret conclave at which Pope Francis was elected.

The information gleaned was then reportedly divided into four categories — “leadership intentions”, “threats to financial system”, “foreign policy objectives” and “human rights”.

Pope is Catholic

Wasn’t NSA spying supposed to be about preventing terrorist attacks before they happened? What’s next … tiny microphones inside Catholic confessionals?

I’m so angry I can barely speak.
