YOUR FRIDAY FIX-ME-UP

It’s been a week, hasn’t it? Anger, outrage, frustration and betrayal. It’s not like the outcome wasn’t predetermined, but it’s still depressing to watch helplessly as Oblahblah takes out his weiner and whizzes on us. “If you don’t like some piece of legislation, win some elections.”

I’m going to forget about McConnell’s bribe-taking and Boehner’s utter cowardice. I’m going on a very special trip with some special peopleI haven’t told you about yet. I will Monday. Till then, try to relax. The bridle is more comfortable if you don’t take the bit in your teeth.

Children really are happier climbing a tree and baking than playing with expensive toys
They don’t understand kids’ need to do the same things we did as kids.Plenty of physical activity and pretend play to expand the imagination.

I actually talked to a French descent farmer here at our local market. He was telling me how many of his former compatriots had to give up farming, after centuries of family history, because the EU regulations were making it impossible for them to survive. He has been here for over 20 years and was telling me that America looks like pre Nazi Europe. He was so anti Obama.
There is a movement in France to get out of the EU, and the far right is making a recurrence.
Looks like the socialists are finally running out of other people’s money.
People who live under tyranny finally wake up. That is why I think we ended up with BHO. Too many Americans have forgotten what this country was founded for. Now they are finding out the hard way.

I loved being in France when I was an exchange student in 1998…the food, the architecture, the language, the history…all of these things were fantastic. What I didn’t like, was the attitude of the people. If I bought a soda, I was expected to pass it around and give my companions a sip (gross. I gave up lots of sodas because I don’t like sharing germs). If I had a pack of cigarettes, I was expected to give one to everyone in my group anytime I lit up. I did not anticipate subsidizing cola & cigarettes for my host family and friends, but didn’t want to be a ‘rude American’, so I quickly ran out of my meager savings. And the worst was the militarized police walking around with assault weapons, glaring at the people, who were not allowed to own weapons themselves. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was kind of a beautiful prison. Even as a stupid 17-year-old kid, who couldn’t quite articulate why, I felt vulnerable and taken-advantage-of the whole time I was there. It was also my first experience with Islam. My host sister had befriended some Muslim boys our age, and we ‘infidels’ were not allowed in their homes. Nice.

I hope France can pull itself out of this tailspin. The farmers, especially, take immense pride in their work, as food is such an important element of the culture. It is not hard to imagine that farmers whose families had been working the same land for generations would be driven to suicide if regulations kept them from the only trade they have ever known.

I too have spent a lot of time in France and with the French. They will never admit they are wrong to US, but they do a lot of complaining amongst themselves. They know it is not working, but they love their “free” stuff.
The French Revolution took decades because they could not decide if they wanted a king or not. So they went back and forth and ended up with “Libertie, Equalitie, Fraternitie”.
Yeah, they are all free to be equally miserable brothers and sisters.
But the saddest thing about France is how they have turned their back on religion. Yeah, they still say they are Catholics but when I went to their incredible cathedrals, I saw a lot of tourists and old people. The young do not embrace God.
I use to host French students. I remember one young girl telling me there was no God. She even looked sad when she said it.
Imagine not having any faith. I do not know how people can live happily without faith.

A man in Edinburg, Texas, was so afraid of his wife that he arranged for his buddies to “kidnap” him so they could all go out drinking, because he knew she wouldn’t let him. His friends got their guns, donned masks, burst into his house and took him. The cops found the whole thing suspicious, and, after he was “released” hours later, he admitted everything under interrogation.
I DIDN’T THINK THIS THROUGH … A man forgot to book the hall for his wedding reception in Liverpool, England, so he called in a bomb threat on his wedding day hoping to cover up for his mistake. He had instant remorse, and called back to say there was no bomb, but nobody was there to answer the phone because the building had been evacuated. He was later found out.
BEAT IT! IT’S THE COPS! … A group of moose became intoxicated on fermented apples in the woods near Stockholm, Sweden. A homeowner there reported that the “drunken moose gang” approached him in a “threatening” manner, and wouldn’t let him go into his garden. The man called the police, and the moose fled when they showed up.
I COULD TAKE AWAY YOUR FREEDOM, BUT I WON’T … After getting drunk while watching the Mel Gibson movie “Braveheart” in her home in Australia, a woman took her son’s sword, went outside and started demonstrating her fighting skills in the street. Alarmed neighbors called the police who charged her with going armed to cause fear. The judge sentenced her to probation instead of jail.
BUT LET US KNOW IF HE TURNS ANYONE INTO A RABBIT … A woman and her daughter filed a complaint with police in Georgia that her daughter’s ex-husband had “cast a spell” on them. They said that, because of the spell, the ex-husband is “able to know what they do and where they go.” Authorities said there was not enough evidence to bring criminal charges.

AND YOU WONDER WHY YOU DIDN’T PASS? … A man in Ferndale, Ga., was charged with attacking a woman he met while both were attending a court-ordered anger management class.
YES, HELLO, OFFICER … NOW THIS MAY SOUND ODD … A woman called 911 after she fell into a charity donation bin in Oklahoma and got stuck inside while trying to retrieve a tennis bracelet.
IT’S OK, SIR, THE SURVEILLANCE TAPE WILL SHOW YOU … A man got drunk and smashed a window to break into a bar in Majorca, Spain, then eventually fell asleep on a couch. He was still there when police officers arrived, telling them, “I was so drunk I don’t know what I was doing.”
WRONG TIME, WRONG PLACE … A man tried to rob a guy in the parking lot of a Columbus, Ohio, bank where the victim was about to make a sizeable deposit. An off-duty police officer happened to be in the bank cashing a check. He heard the commotion, ran outside and shot the thief in the leg when he tried to run

    • OMG, GP! What are you doing!?! 😯 Don’t encourage Pete to post more of these Walmart women or Barack in stilettos or Boehner in a bra. This one post is enough to make me stick my head in the freezer. Maybe that will relieve the nausea or I’ll just freeze to death. Either way is preferable to seeing that OBlowMe pic again. Yikes! 😀
