Cat Duet by Boys Choir – FUNNY

The Duetto buffo di due gatti (“humorous duet for two cats”) is a popular performance piece for two sopranos which is often performed as a concert encore. The “lyrics” consist entirely of the repeated word “miau” (“meow”). While the piece is typically attributed to Gioachino Rossini, it was not actually written by him, but is instead a compilation written in 1825 that draws principally on his 1816 opera, Otello. The compiler was likely the English composer Robert Lucas de Pearsall, who for this purpose used the pseudonym “G. Berthold”.

What is Netroots Nation and why should I care?

Netroots Nation is a political convention for American progressive political activists, which makes it the polar opposite of CPAC (pron SEE-pak), the Conservative Political Action Conference for American conservative activists.

Why should anyone care? Only because it’s a snark-tastic opportunity to scoff at the enemy. And you know how important Saul Alinsky said THAT is. So here I go playing a fun, if immature game of nyah nyah!

2013_06 20 Frank and Dean

Netroots Nation was originally organized by Daily Kos, a progressive blog financed in part by billionaire George Soros. So naturally, they featured a mockumentary about how totally UnAmerican Awful it is that the billionaire Koch Brothers help finance conservative political causes.

The 2013 Netroots Nation convention had about 3,000 registered attendees. (CPAC 2013 had about 10,000.)

Seriously. Who came up with Nutroots … I mean Netroots Nation? I’m guessing the same PR morons who came up with WTF for Obama.

There’s lots more, but you get the idea.

If this stuff is true, it explains a lot about RINO John’s current behavior

It also explains why he was pushed on us for 2008 and then not only ran the most anemic campaign ever, but actively sabotaged his own running mate.

Date Setting

Whenever people talk about when the Rapture might occur or if the End Times are near, someone else inevitably tries to shut them up by quoting Jesus’ line, “Of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” Matt 24:36

I haven’t read any comments or emails about my “Rapture in April 2014” posting yesterday, so if you said this to me, please be assured that I am not singling anyone out. I’ve been hearing the same criticism for months from many quarters.

I don’t pooh-pooh anything Jesus said, so obviously I looked up the actual passage and read it carefully in context. Frankly, I was astonished! It’s full of parables I’ve been hearing out of context my whole life.

And it is part of a long teaching by Jesus that is called the Olivet Discourse, which I’d never heard of, despite the fact that it is as long or longer than the very famous and familiar Sermon on the Mount.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught us how to live a holy life; in the Olivet Discourse, He taught us to be ready for His return and for Final Judgment. The Olivet Discourse appears in Mark 13 and Luke 21, but the fullest treatment is in Matthew 24-25.

In Matthew and Mark, the line about not knowing the day or hour (Matt 24:36, Mark 13:32) is preceded by the EXACT same lines:

Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates.” Matt 24:32-33; Mark 13:28-29

In Luke, the line about not knowing the day or hour does not even appear, yet the lesson of the fig tree does!

Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.” Luke 21:29-31

Olivet and date setting

What I get out of all this is that, while we cannot know the precise time when Jesus will return, we are supposed to watch carefully for the signs of His coming so we can be READY.

This reminds me of when our kids were deployed. We never knew the “day and hour” they’d return either, but we certainly knew the season. And as the great day approached, we’d get progress reports as they made the long trip home.

Then, as the actual hour approached, we would gather in the bleachers with our signs and our flags and our squirmy kids. And we would wait. And wait. And wait. WATCHING for the JOYFUL MOMENT when that door would burst open and our loved ones would march in!

Troop return montage

I strongly encourage you to read the entire Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24 and 25.

Will the Rapture occur in April 2014?

I believe the Rapture will occur during the Passover-Easter season when both Roman and Orthodox Easter Sundays coincide with the Jewish Feast of Firstfruits. See for my rationale.

Based on my research, these dates overlap about 25% of the time. The first graphic shows the Roman and Orthodox Easter dates from 1990 through 2049. The second shows, on the left, where these dates match and, on the right, where the matchers also coincide with the day after the Sabbath within Passover, which is the Feast of Firstfruits.

1990 to 2049 Easters and Passover coincidence overlapped

1990 to 2049 - 17 overlap years

In every instance of triple overlap, the Monday of Holy Week is Nisan 14, meaning the day of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (celebrated Palm Sunday) coincides with the date of his crucifixion.

Jewish dates of First Holy Week

In only one of these 13 years, however, do the days of April match precisely the days of Nisan.

2014 April - A rare conjunction of days and dates

Will the Rapture occur next Spring? Obviously, I can’t say for sure. But I wouldn’t bet against it!

It seems that with every passing week,I look more and more to Friday just to lighten things up for my pals and maybe get their weekend off to a good start.Faced with the incessant flow of outrages  that we are forced to stand by and watch helplessly is really frustrating and we need to unplug for the sake of our own sanity.

I’m a little late getting started today. We made our weekly pilgrimage to WalMart so I could terrorize the public(see yesterday’s post) and the sky was getting dark when we left home so we took our umbrellas in the store. At one point the lights inside actually went out for a few seconds.I don’t know if they have backup generators but the power came back on.As we got near the checkout I looked outside. The sky was as black as the inside of your hat and the rain was coming down like a cow pissing on a flat rock (I majored in metaphor mixing). Unless you’ve ever seen a cow perform this bodily function you can’t appreciate the concept.About half the checkout registers decided to take the rest of the day off and people were herded from one working checkout to another.

Being the gallant dude I am,I  told DW to wait while I opened my umbrella and pulled the car up so she could get right in.I have a Handicapped placard, so I was only a few yards from the door. The car radio on the way home said that the storm packed 60MPH winds. There was such a volume of hot air you’d think Schumer and Dirtbag were arguing.

On a personal note,my state raised the tax on cigarettes $1 per pack last year. They didn’t raise as much money as they figured,so this Sunday its going up another dollar. So a carton of name brand cigarettes will be about $80.00 around here. It’s much, much higher in Chicago because of the excessive taxes. What always galled me was that anytime the politicians need more money the first thing they do is drop more taxes on tobacco.Cutting spending never enters their minds.I smoked between 1-2 packs a day for almost 40 years.I stopped for good at the end of February, just before I went into the hospital.I never thought I’d find the will to quit, but after a quadruple bypass 10 years ago and now toting a pacemaker and using oxygen for my COPD,it’s all over.My body was warning me this was my last chance. The strange thing is I don’t even miss it.I will confess, though,I get some perverse pleasure thinking about smokers(most of them Obamaphiles) that will pay whatever it costs to get their nicotine fix.

I have some really good things for you today.Be ready to chuckle, smile, and,oh, have some Kleenex handy;I have a couple stories that will test your tear ducts…I promise.

Priests for Life issues Open Letter to Nancy Pelosi

If you go to, there is a button at the end of the letter to allow you to have an email sent to her office indicating that you, too, agree with the letter.

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Dear Mrs. Pelosi,

Last Thursday, June 13, you were asked a question in a press briefing that you declined to answer. The question was, “What is the moral difference between what Dr. Gosnell did to a baby born alive at 23 weeks and aborting her moments before birth?”

Given the fact that the Gosnell case has been national news for months now, and that Congress, where you serve as House Democratic Leader, was about to have a vote on banning abortion after 20 weeks fetal age, this was a legitimate question.

Instead of even attempting to answer the question, you resorted to judgmental ad hominem attacks on the reporter who asked it, saying, “You obviously have an agenda. You’re not interested in having an answer.”

Mrs. Pelosi, the problem is that you’re not interested in giving an answer.

Your refusal to answer this question is consistent with your failure to provide an answer to a similar question from me and the members of my Priests for Life staff. Several years ago, we visited your office with the diagrams of dismemberment abortion at 23 weeks, and asked the simple question, “When you say the word ‘abortion,’ is this what you mean?” In response, nothing but silence has emanated from your office.

In what way is this refusal to address an issue of such national importance consistent with the leadership role you are supposed to be exercising? Public servants are supposed to be able to tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public. Apparently, you can’t. Otherwise, you would have been able to explain the difference between a legal medical procedure that kills a baby inside the womb and an act of murder — for which Dr. Gosnell is now serving life sentences — for killing the same baby outside the womb.

Moreover, you stated at the press briefing on June 13, “As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. I don’t think it should have anything to do with politics.”

With this statement, you make a mockery of the Catholic faith and of the tens of millions of Americans who consider themselves “practicing and respectful Catholics” and who find the killing of children — whether inside or outside the womb — reprehensible.

You speak here of Catholic faith as if it is supposed to hide us from reality instead of lead us to face reality, as if it is supposed to confuse basic moral truths instead of clarify them, and as if it is supposed to help us escape the hard moral questions of life rather than help us confront them.

Whatever Catholic faith you claim to respect and practice, it is not the faith that the Catholic Church teaches. And I speak for countless Catholics when I say that it’s time for you to stop speaking as if it were.

Abortion is not sacred ground; it is sacrilegious ground. To imagine God giving the slightest approval to an act that dismembers a child he created is offensive to both faith and reason.

And to say that a question about the difference between a legal medical procedure and murder should not “have anything to do with politics” reveals a profound failure to understand your own political responsibilities, which start with the duty to secure the God-given right to life of every citizen.

Mrs. Pelosi, for decades you have gotten away with betraying and misrepresenting the Catholic faith as well as the responsibilities of public office. We have had enough of it. Either exercise your duties as a public servant and a Catholic, or have the honesty to formally renounce them.

Fr. Frank Pavone

National Director, Priests for Life

The email option allows you to simply send the above or you can delete any or all of it and write your own. I doubt Mrs. Pelosi will ever see my email, but I wrote the text carefully anyway.

Subject line: Mrs. Pelosi, I am praying for your soul

When God calls you to your Final Judgment, He will not be interested in how you voted for food stamps so that other people could feed the poor (while you increased your personal fortune by millions).

What He will want to know is, “Where were you when I was in utero and people were pressuring my mom to have me aborted?”

I believe He will also want to know where you got off citing your Catholic faith and using the word “sacred” about your support for the cruel destruction of pain-capable and viable or near-viable fetuses.

Human life begins at conception and abortion is evil. The Catholic Church has taught this for millennia. Your support for abortion is bad enough; acting like you have a moral obligation to support it because you’re Catholic is pure sacrilege.

You’re past your four score and ten, ma’am. If I were you, I’d be thinking and praying hard about the rapidly approaching day when God Almighty will call you to account. All of your power and connections and millions are as filthy rags to Him. His judgment will be final and Heaven and Hell are eternal.

Sequestration, my Aunt Fanny

It wasn’t so very long ago that the Obama administration was very loudly and pointedly agonizing over the dreadful impact that the sequestration-imposed, across-the-board budget cuts were going to have on both the economy and the federal government’s ability to perform some of its basic functions.

Since all his bullshit hand-wringing, he has by-passed Congress, which is supposed to be in charge of his salary and benefits, and granted himself a substantial raise via executive order. He and his family just got back from Ireland and will shortly be leaving on a trip to Africa that is reportedly going to cost Americans $100 million. And, just to add insult to injury, employees of the IRS that targeted Obama’s political enemies during his second presidential campaign will soon be receiving $70 million in bonuses!
