It’s been a really rough week. With each passing day comes a new outrage as we are being pushed ever faster headlong toward the edge of the cliff.I was ready to go on hiatus for awhile. Then I came home from delivering my papers this morning and read the comments from yesterday’s Grudge. The kind words that Mindful wrote gladdened my heart exceedingly and I realized maybe somebody was actually interested in what I had to say.

It is up to us to teach our children and grandchildren about the things that made this the greatest country in the history of the world. This is how tribes without schoolbooks pass on their legacy to a new generation. If we do not do this so much of the rich tapestry of events that molded and shaped these United States will be lost.

My granddad was born in 1905 and granny appeared in 1908.Gramps was too young for WWI and too old for WWII.But,his older brother,my Great Uncle Homer was a WWI vet and my oldest uncle was in WWII and my youngest uncle was on a maintenance crew for F-86 Sabre jets in Korea in 1951.I would sit for hours and listen to stories of their service to our country and my grandparents told me what it was like raising four kids during the Depression. Granddad would line up outside a construction company office at 3AM,hours before they opened, hoping the crew boss would choose him to work that day.He said they’d work you for 14 hours and pay you for 8.Don’t like it?The guy behind you has hungry kids at home and would be more than willing to do whatever he could to survive. That was the way it was before FDR decided to turn America into a welfare state.Granny and I used to go round and round because they were stone Roosevelt democrats and,try as I might,I could not convince her it wasn’t Roosevelt who got us out of the Depression,it was the War.I shudder to think what would happen if we were put in that position again.Almost nobody is prepared to fend for themselves.

I’m sorry for going on so long.I’ll hush up and get on with the non-political weekend post.

State looks to jail dairy farmer after raw milk talk

We used to have family and friends come over all the time and go home with a couple gallons of raw milk.My grandpa used to laugh about the first time they took me to a restaurant with them.I was maybe 5.When the waitress brought my milk I tasted it then called her back to the table.
    “I ordered milk”
    “That’s what that is”
    “No,it’s not”
    “Yes,it is”

With as much attitude as a five year old can muster,I looked her dead in the eye and said:”Lady,I’ve been drinking milk my whole life! This is not milk!”
Granny had to tell her I was used to drinking milk straight from the cow and not the watered down crap that passes for milk in the grocery store.
Grandad always chuckled when he told people that story.

This is big news among my health fanatic friends. Even if one is not into raw milk, it really is horrifying that what was a mainstay of the American diet for a couple of centuries is now being criminalized. This issue has really pushed a lot of liberals away from Obama. The sad thing is, they still see republicans as just as bad, even though under Bush, the FDA only raided one farm, and with Obama it has been hundreds.
One of the objects of Agenda 21 is to drive small farmers out of business. Small farms are self sustaining and feel local communities and not as easy to control as Big Agra because they can fly under the radar. By going after them like, with over- regulation, they put them out of business and a Big Agra company comes in a buys them out. Next people migrate to the city to find jobs, and we look like Europe, which has a lot of open land, owned by a select few, while everyone else lives on top of each other.

Senator’s Wife Publicly Begs Strippers to Leave Her Husband Alone
If painted ladies(remember that phrase?) come banging on your door at one AM,there’s a reason.

    • Mercy. I think my ever faithful husband would be mortified if I did something like that. I am actually amused when other “ladies” express an interest, because he looks a bit like Bill Clinton when he cuts his hair, as he does twice a year whether he needs it or not! It tells me a lot about the ladies and I never, ever worry that my husband would be tempted.

A newlywed friend of mine complained to me that her new hubby still looked at other women. I told her to be flattered that he looked at pretty ladies, but came home to her. She explained further that this was not the problem. In her opinion, the gals he ogled were DOGS. LOL

12 Surprising Things You Can Make With A Coffee Pot
Question is,why would you want to?

    • GP

I remember that was all we had to cook with in college. I made soup in mine all the time, since I hated coffee. Our coffee pots were not nearly as fancy, and really hard to clean if you let the soup on too long. lol

Breast really is best if you want a brainy baby: Just THREE months of breastfeeding boosts development by 30%

Mom used to tell me she got ready to feed me and I’d just stare. She said she used to get impatient and say,’pick one,I got a headache.’

    • That was interesting. Now we know where you got at least of some of your smarts. I wish I could have shown that report to my mother when she kept telling me to just give my babies a bottle and be done with it.

‘Fluffy Cows’ Set Internet Hearts Aflutter
Fluffy cows are a new one on me.I raised a Holstein heifer for the 4-H fair when I was 12 and I know how much work goes into feeding and brushing them every day. These critters took a LOT of work.
I may not be an expert, but the 2nd and 3rd ‘cow’ look an awful lot like a steer.Yes,there’ a difference. You can’t milk a steer. You can try, though. You won’t get any milk, but if you do it right you may get the steer to smile.
    I gotta stop.

Forget passwords – you could soon be unlocking your phone by wrinkling your nose or sticking out your tongue
We have a cell phone.One.When one of us leaves the house we take it with us for don’t take pictures or videos. You can text on it,but its not in our plan and we don’t know how to anyway. We can’t access the internet. We don’t tweet. We use it to call people, talk, then hang up.What a concept.–soon-unlocking-phone-wrinkling-nose-sticking-tongue.html

    • You and me both….

I finally got an Iphone because everyone complained that I would not text. So I found a phone that does voice texting, though I still hate it and only do it when I have to.
I have had this damn phone for 2 months and could never figure out how to listen to voice mail. I tried everything, but it would just call the person, instead of play the voice mail. I met a young gal today who finally told me what to do because I had a message I needed to hear. She told me to turn the phone off and it will reset. Then she had to show me how to turn the phone off. I have been trying to figure that out too for the past 2 months. lol
Life use to be so simple.
At least it is not Verizon.

Wow. Lotsa stuff here today, Pete. Looking forward to giving it a closer look when I get home.

A gay couple has filed a discrimination complaint against a Colorado baker who refused to provide them with a wedding cake, because gay marriage is against his religion.

I’ve heard of other cases where gays have done the same thing … sue to FORCE a business owner to violate personal beliefs rather than simply go somewhere else with their business.

To my mind, this behavior makes their argument about just wanting things to be FAIR ring very hollow.

    • Similar issue with Boy Scouts. It’s not enough for them to start their own, more “inclusive” organization. They have to force a membership rule change upon those who take a Biblical view of homosexuality.

    • A woman I know lost her job this way. Co-workers who knew she opposed gay marriage decided to get her fired, and they goaded her constantly with questions until they got her to admit that she was not in favor of legally changing the definition of marriage. They then reported her to their superiors, who hauled her in for some “sensitivity training.” As a condition of continuing her employment, she was told she had to promise that she would never again say anything that might hurt the feelings of any of her pro-gay-marriage co-workers. She didn’t think she could promise that, so she was forced to leave the job. She won’t talk about it to anyone because a member of her family still works at the same place, and she’s afraid they’ll go after him to get back at her. It’s sick. I’m completely live-and-let-live when it comes to people’s individual lifestyle choices, but I can’t help thinking that the campaign to redefine marriage is more an assault on freedom of religion and freedom of speech than anything else. It also violates the guarantee of equal protection under the law, since no one ever gets fired or prosecuted because he refused to promise that he would never, ever say anything that might offend, say, a Christian. Some people’s feelings are obviously more important than others.

      • chrissythehyphenated

They SAY it’s about feelings and fairness, but clearly it is not or they’d be respectful of our feelings and our rights. They’ve demonstrated that it is totally about assaulting God’s people.

I might have been laissez-faire about gay marriage, but having watched the Left be as aggressive about this as they are about abortion, I have to conclude that the real issue is to destroy marriage altogether, which is in the Bible as part of the End Times signs.

It is time people start suing for reverse discrimination. This is really getting out of hand.

Thanks for some fun stuff PP. It is always great to laugh along.

  23. GP

I wasn’t sure where to put this, but since PP had some heartening posts on this thread, I thought I would add this. I hope people get to see it:

A Perfect display of American Ingenuity.

Good friends of ours from here in Elizabethtown, KY just got back home from a visit to the Air Force Academy, in Colorado Springs where they attended the commencement exercises of the graduating class of 2013. In fact John’s grandson was one of the graduates and John, being a retired US Army officer was able to swear in his grandson as a brand spanking new US Air Force 2Lt.

What an honor that must have been for John and his family, but that’s not the real story nor is it the historic significance of the 2013 commencement celebration. You see 2013 is the first Air Force graduation on record that has occurred under a Sequester created by a non functioning Congress and an unyielding Obama Administration. Due to operating under this Sequester the ceremonies proceeded as follows:

President Obama regretfully declined the kind invitation of the Commandant of the Air Force Academy to be speak to the graduates and their families on the occasion of their graduation saying he was committed to addressing the graduates at West Point. Instead it was established that Vice President Biden was free and he would come to Colorado Springs. And, as to the request for the usual fly-over by the US Air Force Thunderbirds that was declined again due to the Sequester.

After consultation with his chain of command the Commandant of the Air Force Academy notified the White House that due to the Sequester cancelling the traditional fly-over of the Thunderbirds that he was confident that the nation didn’t need the added $1 million + expense to fly Air Force 2, of any configuration or model, and the added expense of the Secret Service and their entourage required when the Vice President traveled. So just cancel the initial request for a speaker from the White House for the commencement.

So the commencement went off as planned sans representation from the Obama Administration. It looked like this:

The featured speaker was an Under Secretary of the Air Force, who is a decorated Viet Nam veteran. The Secretary flew back and forth from Andrews AFB to Peterson AFB In Colorado Springs on routine training flight conducted by the Air Force thus costing the American tax payers nothing.

John tells me that there were nearly as many Air Force General Officers in attendance as there were family members. He thinks a dozen or more 4 Star General, three or four times as many 2 and 3 Stars an untold number of 1 Star Generals. And, of course countless Colonels and below.

Most of these officers were themselves alumni of the Air Force Academy and wanted nothing less than to present a perfect program for the graduating class. Since the Congress and the Obama Administration could not see fit to allow for a fly-over by the Thunderbirds, a number of the senior generals took matters into their own hands. And so, when the speeches, the hats were all thrown into the air, and all the family hugs were all made and it became time for the fly-over a roar of engines was detected from the West of the air strip and parade grounds there at the facility and everyone was treated to a fly-over by the Confederate Air Force. Looking up they saw all kinds of vintage aircraft from B-17s B-24s, B-25s, P-38s, P-51s and others all represented by manufactures such Corsairs, Grumman, Lockheed and Boeing who still provide parts availability for these aircraft, and flown by our hero’s from prior conflicts that still see fit to stay active for services such as this. It was a wonderful experience for all who were there.

I am sure you will join me in offering a salute to these serving officers who saw fit not to rob the 2013 graduating class of their day of celebration, and to our hero’s who flew the planes for this worthy occasion and oh yes to the many private donors who pitched in and covered the expenses involved in bringing these aircraft in to Colorado Springs from various locations across the country.

The Rockford Air Show always had a couple of these magnificent old warbirds. It gave me a chill just to see them and imagine what it was like riding in them.Unfortunately there will be no air show this year.Obama’s phony sequester cut funding for the Blue Angels who were scheduled to perform.
