Speaking of liars … Christie sat with Arianna Huffington at the Nerd Prom. Has he sold out the right or WHAT?!

If he thinks he is going to become president by sucking up to the left, he is a few twinkies short of a heart attack.
Oops, I guess he is already a few twinkies short of a heart attack.
That is why I leave the puns to the great PP.

This would be unreal, except I already know how SUPER DUMB these women really are.

H Con Res 36 submitted last week says we need to be more “gender sensitive” about climate change cuz, you know, global warming will make women turn to prostitution.

Best tweet: Sounds to me like another two dollar whorable excuse to shift the blame away from Obama’s failed American economic recovery.

This is the dumbest waste of time since the other day when Pete told us about rat’s feeling anxious as the days get longer. Some people must have way too much time on their hands to be able to think up this kind of stuff. Ms. Lee of CA and Mr. Ellison of MN are obviously two with a lot of leisure time.

And isn’t it crazy that people like that get their BS bylines, and the world has no idea we have real talent here, like PP and Chrissy.

    • SUPER DUMB is a very cautious understatement, Chrissy. Ms. Roberts makes a bag of hammers look like a nuclear physics convention in a sack. She makes Matthew Modine look like a chessmaster. Next to her, Joe Biden should have no trouble authoring the London Times crossword puzzle. I hate to call her STUPID and talentless, but the best part of her career was the opening scene of Pretty Woman showing her curvy butt, and they had to use a body double for that, because even her tush was unattractive when she was a twenty-something young woman. She is spectacularly uncourageous, unoriginal and uncompelling in everything she’s ever done. The maid, Maria(real name), who cleaned my room in Orange County, CA, recently, is not an aspiring actress, but she had 600% of the charm that Julia Roberts has. I would prefer to see her in any of JR’s movies, instead.

        • I had mixed feelings about it. I found the story line implausible, and found it difficult to imagine that those two characters would actually find lasting happiness together… on the other hand, there were a few great moments, especially the part where he took her to see “La Traviata.”

          • That WAS a good scene. She’s been in many better films, such as The Mexican, the Danny Ocean movies and Pelican Brief, as you pointed out. I just caught that one a few months ago. I just don’t see her talent coming through in any of them. Maybe I’m missing it. Maybe I missed the one time she played a slightly different character than the chief one in her repertoire because I didn’t see Erin Brockovich.

Erin Brockovich is definitely worth seeing. I’d forgotten it was her starring in it. I just remember the story and the real Erin, who is in the specials. I think she also had a teensy bit part in the movie, as a waitress I think it was.

Are there any movies we can see anymore?
I saw they have another movie out now with Sarandon and Keaton. All hollywierd does is keep rotating the same old liberal bitches (with Fonda and Streep), in every movie calling for a mother. And of course, the mother is always a dysfunctional loon.
Just once I would love to see older women portrayed as kind and caring and full of wisdom-you know, the way most older women really are.
But who would they get to act out that role? None of the gang of 4 would have a clue on how to act normal.
Don’t get me started on the whole Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan garbage they are supposed to be cooking up.

  4. She was good in “Conspiracy Theory” and “The Pelican Brief.” I also thought she did well in “Charlie Wilson’s War.” Her more recent movies, at least the few of them that I have seen, have been disappointing. After wasting an hour and a half watching “Mirror Mirror” — hoping in vain that eventually it would get better — I came to the conclusion that the offers for good parts in good movies must be drying up, or she would never lower herself to participating in anything so stupid.

The quote above was from a speech she made many years ago at a ceremony honoring Bruce Willis (with whom she is good friends), needling him about being a Republican. I’m sure she’s a true blue leftist, as are the overwhelming majority of Hollywood types, but I think that particular comment was intended as good-natured teasing.

That’s good to know, Bob. Thanks. As a “roast” comment, I can swallow it. She hasn’t been abrasively outspoken like Judd and Sarandon and some others.

There’s some line that these people cross that makes it impossible for me to forget their hateful politics when I watch their movies and, for some, throw the DVDs away.

I used to love Tyler Perry; I gave him 4 years to figure out that Obama was a baby-murdering fraud, but when he threw a big fund raiser for him in 2012, that was it. All my TP flicks went into the garbage. Not the library, In the trash. And I won’t watch his new stuff.

It’s one thing for libtard actos to support him. But for Perry, who made his entire career and all his millions off JESUS … support for Barack “God Bless Planned Parenthood” Obama is just a bridge way too far for me.

      • I agree. That sucks.

For the most part, I really, really try to ignore it when actors, actresses, singers, musicians, etc. spout off about politics, philosophy, public policy, and/or religion; I don’t really care to know what they think about those things, and it annoys me that they think their opinions on those subjects are of general interest. It would be like me giving a lecture about astrophysics or some other subject for which I have zero qualifications. I don’t ask my hairdresser or my mechanic what they think about politics, so why would I care what some Hollywood clown thinks? But some of them really do make it impossible to ignore, and Tyler Perry definitely falls into that category. Ugh.

I have a friend who is crazy about a certain living author who shall remain nameless in case anyone here is a fan of his. She and I like a lot of the same stuff — both of us were English majors in college, and we both love 19th century Brit lit — so she and I often trade recommendations. But this particular author just didn’t click with me. I attempted to read one of his books, but gave up halfway through, which is rare for me — once I’ve started a book, I almost always finish it. Recently I learned the guy is an Obama fan, which made me feel a lot better about not liking him. 😀

DW and I have not been to a movie theater in about 8 years or more.We used to rent from Blockbuster once in awhile. The last movies I rented were The Expendables I and II.You might have guessed I’m not much for chick flicks…DW went to see the Twilight series with SD.They like that kind of junk.

    • My husband isn’t a movie buff, and I’m a cheapskate who would rather wait until something comes out on DVD, so we rarely go to the theater. When I get a movie from Netflix, I always watch it alone the first time, so I can determine whether it’s something he would like; 90% of the time, I can tell he wouldn’t like it, so I don’t waste his time with it. Once in a blue moon I actually find one that he likes. (My accuracy rate predicting these things is nearly perfect.)

When my son still lived at home, I used to go to movies (at the budget theater, of course) with him. I was always amazed that a teenage boy would actually want to go to the movies with his mother; I found it kind of flattering. Now that he doesn’t live with us, he comes over once in a while so we can watch movies together, because we like a lot of the same stuff (which my husband/his father doesn’t care for).

I have never understood, and never will understand, people that force their partners to go to movies that the partner hates — just as I will never understand people who love to shop dragging a partner who hates to shop on a shopping excursion. What on earth is the point? Is it so they can prove just how much they love you, that they’re willing to endure such misery to make you happy? That just strikes me as kinky.

I loved Fargo. Fave part: The uber pregnant cop working a grisly murder case remembers to get her hubby … what was it, bait? And she really CARES how well his art does in the stamp competition. I just found that quality of marriage so incredibly touching.

              • Good point! I just asked about those movies to prompt Bob to tell us how weird her movie tastes were, but sometimes, the quirky ones can be good. I’m a sucker for any movie that shows a marriage in a good light, just because it’s so rarely done, and I think it’s actually harder to do than to portray dysfunction. I’m so tired of the endless stream of dysfunctional family shows and films, perhaps started by “The Honeymooners” but perfected by “All in the Family” and STILL propagated by Seth MacFarlane’s shows and countless others. Can those directors just go get some therapy or something instead of playing out their parent resentment for decades?

One of the big reasons me and dh love Medium and Ghost Whisperer … besides the sappy happy endings of course. Good marriages. Real friendships. True values. And the definitely-not-Christianity theology isn’t TOO far out there for my consumption.

Also the Medium kids are blonde versions of my three, not now, but growing up. First time through, I sometimes wondered if they’d been spying on us with a secret camera or something. I mean … seriously SO much like my three. Too funny.

                • I don’t think that indicates weirdness on your part. Maybe you just have good taste. I’m kinda contrarian, too, when it comes to movies. As a rule, most movies I like are generally unsuccessful in the box office, and ALL the movies I like are HATED by the critics. In fact, if I see profound hatred for a movie from the critics, I perk up and take notice. Probably means it’s wholesome in some way.
