Leftist Haters In MINORITY

While watching the very brief video below, keep in mind that Karen “Crazy Crackers” Finney is a former Director of Communications for the Democratic National Committee and former Press Secretary for Hillary Clinton.

IOW, it’s her JOB to watch what comes out of her mouth.

I’m sure we all feel LOADS BETTER knowing that Karen’s pejorative remark was not meant in any RACIAL way, but just, you know, that she thinks those who believe the Second Amendment means what it says are, you know, like … Coo-Coo Crazy Pants Crack Pot Haters. Which is so way much better than Redneck Coo-Coo Crazy Pants Crack Pot Haters. Right?

So, folks. Just WHO are these “extremists” who believe the Second Amendment means what it says it means?

Only the MAJORITY of American Adults, that’s who.

  • March 27, 2008: Gallup Poll of American Adults
  • “Do you believe the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the rights of private citizens to own guns?”
  • 73% YES vs. 20% NO vs. 7% DK
  • January 18, 2013: Rasmussen Poll of American Adults
  • “Do you believe the purpose of the Second Amendment is to make sure that people are able to protect themselves from tyranny?”
  • 65% YES vs. 17% NO vs. 18% DK

Their Majesties drop the pretenses

After all … tthey don’t have to run for re-election again, so they can stop pretending they give a damn about anybody but themselves.

2012 Obama Vacays

Michelle has quietly dropped her “Let’s Move” campaign and I won’t hold my breath waiting on her to pretend she cares about military families ever again. And Barry will let his Jobs Council fade away this week without renewing its charter, which won’t matter one whit, since the few times the Jobs Council actually met, he refused to do anything they recommended … which could have something to do with the record-breakingly high unemployment we’ve endured ever since he took office the FIRST time.

2013_01 22 Quick change artist by Terrell

What will their Royal Highnesses be doing now? Why, pushing the Progressive agenda right out in the open, of course. You know, that thing that the high unemployment and runaway spending were all about from the beginning.

It’s all part of the Elitist Hypocrite’s drive to bring back the Good Old Days of feudalism, when the 2% owned and controlled everything.

They’re not pretending any more. Any of them.

Media Malpractice Part Eleventy Million

This week, state lawmakers in Hartford, Conn., held hearings about last month’s school massacre in Newtown. Rather than report on what actually happened and give both sides a fair story, media outlets declared that callous gun nuts had “heckled” a bereaved parent. The story went viral.

But oopsie … actual video of the event shows the man was NOT heckled. The media ::gasp!:: MADE IT UP.

Watch the video starting at the 15:00 minute mark.

Heslin, whose little boy was killed in the massacre, asked a question of the audience.

  • Heslin: Is there anybody in this room that can give me one reason or challenge this question, why anybody in this room needs to have one of these assault-style weapons or military weapons or high-capacity clips?

Nobody said anything for 5 seconds as he looked around the room waiting for a response.

  • Heslin: And not one person can answer that question or give me an answer.
  • Audience members: [unintelligible] The Second Amendment shall not be infringed.
  • Heslin: Alright.
  • Lawmaker: Please no comments while Mr. Heslin is speaking. Or we’ll clear the room. Mr. Heslin please continue.

Despite this clear and indisputable evidence that the so-called “gun nuts” had actually been POLITE, some (like Piers Morgan) could not bring themselves to admit the obvious.

2013_01 30 Piers Morgan refuses to apologize

I thought this was over yesterday. The “it’s a lie” story @ http://theweek.com/article/index/239391/the-bogus-news-story-about-the-sandy-hook-hecklers is dated Jan 29th. The Piers Morgan reply tweet above is time and date stamped in the wee hours of the 30th.

Today, January 31st, at 4:30 in the AFTERNOON, I was visually targeted by this absolutely shameless assault headline at AOL:

2012_01 31 430pm HuffPo STILL reporting FALSE story

On further reflection, I have to wonder if the whole thing was a set-up.

If you watch the video, the smack down – “Please no comments while Mr. Heslin is speaking. Or we’ll clear the room. Mr. Heslin please continue.” – sounds inappropriate and contrived. Listen for yourself …. do you see what I mean?

It really stinks like Heslin and that smack-down lawmaker were in cahoots with the media outlet that cooked up the “heckling” story in the first place, that Heslin asked the question intending to get heckled and that the lawmaker was primed to provide the “shut up or we’ll clear the room” smack down.

Problem was … those wingnut 2d Amendment supporters were too dang polite to make it really work for them … not that the Left-wing Media Arm of the Socialist-Democrats of America ever lets a small thing like The Truth interfere with their narrative!

The Republican Party is now officially on record as supporting the de-funding of the taxpayer-supported Planned Parenthood abortion business. On Friday, the Republican National Committee passed a resolution to end “any and all” taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest abortion company, and to send money to legitimate women’s health care efforts instead.

http://www.lifenews.com/2013/01/30/republican-party-backs-de-funding-planned-parenthood/

Also on Friday, U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson (a President Obama appointee) dismissed a lawsuit against the government that had been filed by The Archdiocese of Washington, The Catholic University of America, Consortium of Catholic Academies, Archbishop Carroll High School, and Catholic Charities of D.C. Her reason? The organizations had NOT YET been adversely affected by the HHS mandate. Catholic University says it will keep fighting the Obamcare HHS mandate.

An abortion facility in Lima, Ohio, succumbed to financial problems and and increasingly strong pro-life presence in Central Ohio. It’s closed! According to 40 Days for Life, this closing makes 27 abortion facilities that have gone out of business following peaceful 40 Days for Life vigils outside their doors. Praise God! The Lima abortuary had employed two baby killers. Sadly, Harley Blank is still killing babies in Columbus, Thomas Michaelis in Toledo. Blank was honored earlier this year by Planned Parenthood for his bloody 30-year career. Michaelis was convicted in 1991 of two counts of Attempted Gross Sexual Imposition, one count of Voyeurism, and one count of Public Indecency.

At 20 weeks, ultrasound showed Baby Gudrum had part of his brain growing down the front of his face. The docs suggested aborting. The family has 7 other children and the mom is 40. For many in our anti-life culture, it would be a no-brainer (sorry, pun intended). But these parents said no. “That’s my child. It’s that simple. I’m not going to take the life of my child.” I can’t do this story any kind of justice in a blerb. You gotta go read it! Kleenex Alert!! (Cool factoid: The Dad in this uber Pro-Life, faithful Catholic, homeschooling family is an appellate court judge!)

The Seven Churches of Revelation, part nineteen

If you’re new to this series, catch up @

https://polination.wordpress.com/2013/01/27/the-seven-churches-of-revelation-part-eighteen/ (and prev)

I make jewelry, so I figured these gemstone references would be a quick study. Ha! Silly me.

  • Revelation 4 says, “On the throne sat one whose appearance sparkled like JASPER and CARNELIAN. Around the throne was a halo as brilliant as an EMERALD.”
  • Exodus 24 says, “Moses beheld the God of Israel. Under his feet there appeared to be SAPPHIRE tilework, as clear as the sky itself.”

It seems mineralogy didn’t even exist until the 16th c. AD, so the gem names we use don’t correspond to the ones used in the Bible. On top of that, different translators choose different modern gem names, depending on what they think the original authors might have meant. Said translators don’t seem to know much about the history of gems in the Middle East, since “sapphire” is common in Bible translations, but the gemstone we know as sapphire was unknown to the people who wrote the originals. Ahem.

Sapphire - Lapis Lazuli

Unlike sapphires, emeralds were very well known among the people of the Bible lands. One of the earliest known emerald mines were located near the Red Sea in Egypt. Cleopatra is said to have been particularly fond of them.

1st c emerald and lapis repros

We also need to remember that whatever Bible writers meant by “sparkle” isn’t the dazzling display we see in our faceted gemstones. As you can see above, ancient jewelers could do some faceting, but the type that makes transparent and translucent gems really flash wasn’t invented until the 14th century AD and the “Father of Modern Diamong Cutting”, Louis de Berquen of Flanders, lived in the 15th century AD.

Lapidary History Early Gemstone Cuts

Modern faceted gemstones

The gems (and settings) with which both the Old and New Testament writers were familiar looked more like the 10th c. AD Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire:

10th c Imperial crown of HREmpire

Learning these things made the scripture passages above both more and less puzzling. Yes, emeralds can sparkle brilliantly, if they’re facet cut. Cabochons? Meh. Not so much.

Emeralds

I have particular trouble with “sparkled like jasper and carnelian”, seeing as jasper and carnelian are both opaque stones, so “shine” yes, “sparkle” no.

Carnelian - Jasper

Not to mention that “sapphire tilework” (or lapis lazuli for that matter) is never, to my knowledge, “as clear as the sky itself.” As far as my visualizing goes, I’m at the point of assuming the stones refer to color and signify high status, royalty, wealth. It seems fairly certain that emerald means green, sapphire (lapis lazuli) means blue, and carnelian means orangey-red.

Hmm … come to think … those colors make up three parts of the four natural elements – green for EARTH, blue for WATER, orange-red for FIRE — which leaves jasper for AIR.

Jasper proved to be a gigantic puzzle. Mineralogy defines jasper as an opaque, impure variety of silica that was a favorite gem in the ancient world.

One site says the name means “spotted or speckled stone.” Another notes the Hebrew word that gets translated to jasper – “yashepheh” – comes from a root word meaning “to polish.” Either works, since jaspers are multi-colored and capable of taking a high polish.

“Jasper” is also a variation of the Persian name Kaspar or Gaspar, meaning ‘treasurer or treasure bringer.” This is considered to be the source for the name “Casper” for the Magus who brought Baby Jesus a gift of frankincense. The proper names given the Magi are not biblical; they date from the early Middle Ages. This one is fun, though, since it connects up the visions of heaven with Baby Jesus, wealth and the incense that carries our prayers.

Pliny the Elder, who lived and wrote around the same time that the book of Revelation was written, describes “iaspis” (the Greek word in Revelation that gets translated into “jasper”) as “being green and often transparent.” Color me confused! Jaspers come in an astonishing variety of colors, but they’re all basically opaque.

Jasper samples around world

To be sure, “green and often transparent” works a heckuva lot better for AIR than any of the opaque stones we properly classify as jasper. But … the other two familiar greenish, transparent gemstones, were (like emerald) known in ancient times and had their own names (that weren’t yashepheh or iaspis).

chrysoprase chrysolite peridot

The only gemstone I could find that might fit what Pliny was describing is now known as “hiddenite.” It ranges from light to dark green and is transparent. Although it was only recently discovered (ca. 1879 in North Carolina), deposits have since been found in Brazil, China, Madagascar, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Note the AFGHANISTAN. Lapis lazuli was being mined in Afghanistan as early as the 3rd millennium BC. Lapis jewelry has been found in archeological digs much older than our Bible passages and in places as far from Afghanistan as Mauritania, on the far western side of Northern Africa.

hiddenite

It seems very possible to me that what we now call hiddenite was mined somewhere, maybe Afghanistan, back in 1st c. AD, when it was known as “iaspis”, but that the mine played out and knowledge of the gem itself was lost until the 19th century. It sure fits the bill! And I really like it for AIR.

4 elements

Revelation 4 says, “On the throne sat one whose appearance sparkled like hiddenite/AIR and carnelian/FIRE. Around the throne was a halo as brilliant as an emerald/EARTH.”

Exodus 24 says, “Moses beheld the God of Israel. Under his feet there appeared to be lapis lazuli/WATER tilework, as clear as the sky itself.”

Wow … now THAT I can visualize!

Socialist Death Spiral

As Maggie Thatcher famously opined,

“The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”

These 11 States now have more people on welfare than they do employed.

Death Spiral - 11 states with majority on welfare

Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2011, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support. What’s the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day. To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $25.00 an hour.
