UNSPEAKABLE HORROR

Posted by Pistol Pete

The plan was to do a Grudge when DW and I finishd our Christmas shopping this morning. Then I heard about the unspeakable tragedy in Newtown,Connecticut today.Having grandchildren the same age as most of these tiny victims,I cannot imagine the grief those families feel.

The Grudge can wait. There are things far more important.

The Lord is my rock,
and my fortress, and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I take refuge;
my shield, and the horn of my salvation,
and my high tower.

Psalm 18:2

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

Isaiah 49:13

Sing for joy, O heavens! Rejoice, O earth! Burst into song, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted his people and will have compassion on them in their suffering.

This is indeed a very sad situation. We are yet to hear about all of the facts, and a lot of the news reports are garbled.

The latest, and possibily the most accurate is that the killer of these adults and children, the 20 year-old late Adam Lanzer had Asperger’s Syndrome, which is high spectrum autism. I do not know enough about Asperger’s to make too many comments about the connection between this condition and the actual tragedy. It appears that he had some other form of mental illness on top of the Asperger’s.

How many people must die before something is done to re-evaluate the treatment of those who are mentally ill? How many of those who are schizophrenic will continue in society without the necessary controls? I think here of Jared Loughner. How long will it take before the impact of drug taking (aka LSD, Pot, amphetamines, cocaine etc, including some other lesser known drug such as that consumed by Loughner) before it is recognized that taking drugs leads to mental illness in some individuals?

It is not just the 20 children who died at the hands of this person, it is the school psychologist, it is the headmistress, it is the other teachers who also died along with the children.

My heartfelt sympathy is with their families today. My God’s peace be upon them at this time of mourning.

This kid is just one of many who fall through the cracks of our too large, and impersonal school systems that have pathetic resources for special needs and troubled kids.
Sadly this will be blamed on the guns instead of on the breakdown of our society.
This is all too horrific for words.
All we can do is pray.

Thank you for giving us a special place to share and for those beautiful scriptures, Pete.

“You don’t think it’s going to happen anywhere near you, but it does,” said neighbor Michael Chipchase. “It brings it home.”

We had it come home in our town years ago, when two of the girls from our dds’ church youth group were kidnapped and murdered by a neighbor. Our community suffered so much and for so long after that.

Yet this news is such a quantum leap of tragedy above what we went through … I am numbed to even imagine.

Satan is celebrating and demons are dancing in the streets of Newton. But we must always hang on to the truth that is Jesus risen, our God who is greater than evil.

The internet is a strange place. After the Columbine horror, an e-friend posted that her son had been located and was fine. I didn’t know where she lived, so it was news to me I might know someone involved. Turns out he’d been one of the kids who hid in a closet and survived. … Just now, I read my facebook wall. One of the ladies in one of my groups just posted a request for prayers for the family of one of the dead children. She knows them.

I saw this after our town tragedy, how the horror worked out and out like ripples in a pond after a rock falls in. The worst is closest, but tragedy affects people at a far distance. A while after our tragedy, a British pianist came to town to do a benefit concert for the tuition scholarship the girls’ families had established in their honor. He talked about how much the Brits had suffered with us. E-buds sent news items about the incident from other countries too. And when I called a catalog company to order something, the lady made this sad sighing ohhhhhhhhh myyyyy sound when I told her my address.

It was the same after 9/11. I didn’t know anyone who died, but I knew people who did. My brother (Mr. Chips) had students who lost one and in one case both parents that day. A man who visited the hobby blog I was active with told about living near the fire house that lost many men that day and going down with cookies to just hug them and cry. Now I’m crying again.

Lord Jesus … come again soon. Please.

Sadly, this will be relegated to memory in too soon a time span. There are just too many things that happen so rapidly its difficult to dwell on anything, even something as horrifying as this. When my family gathers at our house for Christmas next week,I’ll hug them all a little harder and thank the Lord for my blessings.

I HEARD AN OBAMA ACOLYTE ON THE RADIO EARLY THIS MORNING
He was gushing how O was so moved by the speech he gave after the massacre he could barely finish.Being the cynic that I am,I see this as a shameless grab for headlines and en excuse to attmpt more gun-grabbing.To feel this kind of real pain requires a heart and a soul.He has neither. As Pat Dollard pointed out,he was making political hay before the broken bodies of these precious innocents were even cold. I am totally repulsed by this wretched scab on humanity.

I agree, Pete. As soon as the news turned from the shock and chaos of the tragedy, it was all Obama headlines, “Obama will address the nation!”, “An emotional Obama took to the podium…”, “Obama promises meaningful action”, and I said to my husband, “Oh, look! It’s all about HIM again.” Malignant narcissists do NOT cry for the same reasons we humans do. They cry because, for a moment, the center of the world was something, or someone, other than them, and weeping like a teenage girl is a good way to fix that.

Of course, Nanny Bloomburg and all the other usual gun-control morons came out of the woodwork immediately after that. Zero cleared the way for them with his blubbering. And now the story is about gun control and has nothing to do with the mental illness that went unchecked in the perpetrator. It’s about gun control, and our sensitive dear leader, who made himself cry with his own speech (how much do you want to bet there was an onion in his pocket?).

Rhambo was out immediately saying how it was wrong for the supremes to overturn IL’s strict gun control laws and how this incident is proof.
Meanwhile, all those Chicago gang bangers have no probem getting illegal guns.
All those Chicago drug lords have no problem selling their poison.
These people are so warped. Since when has banning anything, done a thing except establish a black market.
It is just insane to continue to beat this drum of more gun control.
        What next?
Should we ban cars because cars cause accidents all by themselves?

Chicago has the worst crime and homicide rate in the USA. Over the summer it was horrendous from what I had heard.

Rambo is an outright idiot because concealed carry in the situation that exists in Chicago would have the opposite effect.

No guns has meant that helpless people have been trapped by violent pink with purple spot thugs.

The city is making money off of all the cameras they put around the city to catch traffic violations. Meanwhile the ranks in the police dept are being cut, and the bad apples are giving the cops a bad reputation.
But according to Rham, it is just because of the guns.
There are no social problems in the city. There are just too many guns.
Too bad more of the good citizens are not breaking the law by packing.

would those be the guns that have been obtained illegally by the gangsta thugs?

Kevin Dujan has always spoken openly about the violent problems in his part of Chicago. The thugs come from the burbs to the Boystown district and they pick on those gays because they see them as easy bait.

From what I understand it is these gangsta thugs who are responsible for all of the violence.

Stringent gun laws will not change that situation. The only way it will change is when there is a cultural change in the homes where those gangstas live. They have parents that are drug takers too. They have parents who are former gang members. What is more, they have no pride in themselves.

Actually, the gangbangers do not come from the burbs. It is just the reverse. Kevin was probably saying that they come from the south and west side neighborhoods to the Northside where boystown is. The burbs have a spillover of gangs, but for the most part, we have some wonderful, safe towns surrounding Chicago with low crime rates. I am not at all afraid to walk around my town in the dark, like I would be in Chicago-except for the coyotes that hang out down the street in a wooded area.

GP you are correct about naming those areas. It is the south and west side neighbourhoods.

I have heard that there is also a lot of violence in a certain other area where certain people of Weatherman Underground fame live.

I think he is doing his best approximation of ‘human behavior’, and like GP says, he’s got the media to cover for him. Having known narcissists in real life, they are quite obviously inhuman, once you know the signs to look for. They all exhibit textbook narc behaviors, and are pretty unoriginal in their manipulations.

They rely on two things to pull off their wolf-in-sheep’s clothing routine: a cult of personality (narcs always have a big fanbase of useful idiots who will stand up for them, so they don’t have to defend themselves). Secondly, they hide behind the very thing they lack: humanity. People who are not personality disordered have a hard time connecting the dots about these people, because we don’t want to believe that this type of evil exists outside of fiction and movies. Narcissists rely on that. They need us ‘normals’ to project our own humanity onto them, or the gig is up! Chrissy’s new post where she analyzed his facial expressions vs. his words illustrates this point perfectly.

Between our denial, and their useful idiot fanbase, they can easily discredit, and assassinate the character of anyone who pokes a hole in their façade. Pretty scary, right?

            Like

            • I certainly agree in Barack’s case. Violet, you mention “this type of evil.” Would you consider clinical narcissism to involve actual evil, or just a fairly harmless disorder? Reason I ask, I had an unpleasant experience involving someone I believe to be a hard case narc, and I pointedly asked a mutual friend if there was reason for concern. That person insisted the the situation was harmless, but I’m not so sure. My own impression was of a much more serious evil influence. In general, do you stand by your “evil” comment?

Yes, I absolutely believe Malignant Narcissists are evil. Their every act is calculated to make themselves look innocent, while isolating, and making innocent people appear crazy. They will tear apart whole families to prop up their deluded, grandiose sense of self. They do it willfully, because its easier to ruthlessy destroy others, than it is to confront (and deal with) the truth about themselves. When cornered, they will rage like you have never seen before, which indicates they are perfectly aware of what they’re doing.

Many masquerade as Christians (hello, Obama), claiming the ultimate justification for their evil: The Bible tells them so. How does a narcissist’s victim argue against that, when the Narcissist is often charismatic, and well-liked in the congregation (churches are full of good, trusting people who are always willing to stand up for each other…it’s like a ready-made cult of personality)?

Monte Cristo, if you walked away from that interaction feeling like you had the rug pulled out from under you, and yet you can’t quite articulate what happened in a way that others can process, you met a manipulator. If you are second-guessing your own judgement because others can’t seem to understand why that interaction felt wrong, you have looked into the face of evil. You are NOT crazy. Learn to trust that first instinct, and stay well clear. There is no reforming these people.

Violet you have just described Juliar Dullard (Julia Gillard) to a tee.

She cares nothing for married women and their families. This woman has indulged in at least 4 adulterous affairs with married men.

She claims that she has done nothing wrong concerning matters relating to a very big fraud that occurred 20 years ago. However, the partners of her law firm thought it was enough to contemplate dismissing her, and I might add here that she was secretive and deceptive in her activities.

She cannot understand that the AWU was her client not their agents in the form of AWU officials.

She lies just to get her way: “There will be no carbon tax in a government that I lead”

She had no compunction about stabbing the former Prime Minister in the back. (Poor KRudd is still not over what she did).

Yes, she is a malignant narcissist.

Yesterday, they caught a high schooler in our town planning a school attack. Not just guns. Had bombs ready. Caught after trying to recruit cohorts. The unthinkable becomes more common everyday. But, praise Heaven, this one did not happen. Cops were keeping a lid on details but daughter is in the Nutcracker ballet this year, reviving her high school skills, and of course when the youngsters showed up for evening practice, they already knew everything.

The families of those killed will never face a fully joyous Christmas again in this life. God grant them such peace and comfort as the Spirit can give them.

It is so hard to contemplate what these thugs will do. BTW there are people from a certain unmentionable theocracy type religious mumbo jumbo that have planned this kind of caper here in Australia. One lot was planning an explosive AFL finals extravaganza. Another lot had been planning an explosive event for the Sydney games. Yet another lot had the bright idea of having an explosive time with a small nuclear reactor. Some of these individuals are now in prison. Thankfully those who were planning such an interesting Olympic event were thwarted prior to arriving in Australia.

But one thing he did say that hit me with hope.
    My interpretation of his message:
Most of our days are not happy ones. We are constantly challenged, disappointed, heartbroken and beset with roadblocks.
But we all have days of happiness. We need to be thankful for that, and cherish them all the more.

If you can find the video with Dr. Lipman, I recommend listening to what he has to say.

I think that he is correct as far as his assessment is concerned. In each case he mentioned, the perpetrator was someone who was isolated in the community. There is always some kind of a trigger in these situations, yet, diagnosis is the key.

Some people have pointed out that medications that Lanza might have been on can cause suicide ideation. I have a few things to say on this subject of medications, because it is insane to blame medication if that actually helps a patient who does in fact have some kind of chemical imbalance.

What I want to address is a situation that occurred here in Australia relating to Zoloft. When taken at the proper dosage Zoloft is safe for most patients. I should know because I took it for a period of time, and it was beneficial, not necessarily for depression either. What happened over here was an elderly man who slashed his wife to death and he had been using Zoloft. The difference is that he did not stick to the correct dosage. He thought it was not working so he took double the maximum dosage, and as a result he went into some kind of drug crazed rage. It was not the Zoloft that caused the situation, it was the man who overdosed. This is why I caution against blaming medication for such outbursts…. people are always in control.

I have not had enough information about some of those other killers such as the Virginia Tech guy. However, Loughner and the one responsible for the Aurora cinema massacre had something in common, and it was the use of drugs. Like Dr. Lipman said, though, they also had something else in common, and that is they had become isolated from society. It is that withdrawal from society that should be the trigger for any health professional or parent to take action and try to have the person committed for further assessment. As Dr. Lipman pointed out, these killers have also had undiagnosed mental illness at the time they committed their particular atrocity.

Another simple explanation is somehow they have embraced evil.
