While acting as paid chaperone to a group of 40 disabled adults visiting the Tomb of the Unknown, Bay Stater Lindsey Stone posed as a fellow chaperone snapped this photo.
Lindsey then uploaded it to her Facebook page, cuz, you know, she’s a moron and thought it was teh funny. Too bad for her, most who saw it were disgusted and the image went viral.
Lindsey has issued a public apology for her “incredibly poor taste” and been put on unpaid leave from her job at the disabled living facility.
Linsey said she meant the image to be a “visual pun.” It is visual, I’ll give her that. But it is not a pun.
A pun can be visual or otherwise and it may or may not be particularly funny. But in order to BE a pun, it must play on multiple meanings of one or more similar-sounding words.
These are puns:
He ate so much over the holidays that he decided to quit cold turkey.
I’m reading a book about anti-gravity. It’s impossible to put down.
I wondered why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.
Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? He’s all right now.
We all agree that Lindsey’s photo is not amusing in any way. I just wanted to point out that it also is not a pun.
