THE ILLINOIS SLUDGE

Posted by Pistol Pete

This thread is dedicated (mostly) to the liberal armpit of the midwest that GP and I live in.

The local stations are saturated with political ads this morning, including a former newsreader who’s running for state senate(as a democrat,of course.)I didn’t even know he was running.

Is this a joke. No republican, not even those he lead the GOP in IL would back Schakowsky.
But what makes me sick is that this whole district has been drawn to shut out republicans in the collar counties. It is a little piece of chicago that goes south all the way to will, essentially leaving people in the burbs represented by the likes of JesseJackassJunior.
If the situation were reversed of course, all the liberal media would be screaming about voters being disinfranchised.

Well, I am late reading this, but it looks like it did not turn out as hoped.

I really wish that Jamie Radtke had run for Eric Cantor’s seat in the primary, or as an independent, instead of running for the Rep. nomination for US Senate. There are some other great candidates for that primary (though I think that Jamie was the first to announce her run.) and they are going to split up the anti-George Allen vote, I think.

I think it is a long shot, but Eric is not sitting as strong as he was. He calls himself a Young Gun, but I heard someone hear call him a pistol-whipped metro sexual. The Jewish community here is mostly progressive, so they loathe him, and the business community is getting sick of him, too. The right person could defeat him, but I don’t know who that is, and I don’t think he has much Rep. opposition. I am long over Eric.

The rally in support of appointed state Rep. Derrick Smith (D-Chicago) featured U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.), three aldermen and a county commissioner and even adopted a catchy moniker: “No defeat or retreat — keep the Dem seat.”

  7. White House Acknowledges Scrubbing Malia Stories
by Keith Koffler on March 20, 2012, 1:29 pm

The White House today offered Politico a statement on why it has pressured news organizations to withdraw their stories about Malia Obama’s vacation to Mexico.

Michelle’s Communications Director, Kristina Schake, confirmed that the White House has been scrubbing the stories.

From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.

Ironically, suppressing the stories has probably only added to the attention to the trip, since the media is now avidly focusing on the White House’s actions.

I think IL is doomed. I went to vote at mid afternoon. Only about 200 people bothered out of over 4000 registered (wonder how many more are not even registered). This is such a disgrace.
For the first time EVER, the IL primary matters and the aPATHETIC folks from the once great Land of Lincoln, can’t even bother to go and vote! Our guys are dying in the desert so that camel jockeys can show off their purple thumbs, while the lazy asses of this state hold up their middle finger to democracy.
What is it going to take to wake up these morons?
I would say that we get the government we deserve, except that those of us who do vote don’t deserve this!
