It’s Not ALL About Newt

While I may be all about Newt right now, this election is not. I know I’ve been posting a lot on Gingrich lately and don’t mean for this to be a “Gingrich zone.” I’ve been on my big push lately, ’cause we’ve had early voting all week in FL, with the primary wrapping up on Tuesday. I’m an anti-Mitt person and FL’s winner-take-all primary (50 delegates!) has me really focused on defeating him here. Since Santorum’s polling around 10%, I’m really hoping a lot of his supporters will put their vote towards Newt, ’cause polls indicate that he’s their likely second choice.

I intended to put more information on the other candidates’ pages, but just haven’t been focused on that. Please feel free to add anything candidate-specific directly to the comments section on their pages. I’m hoping we’ll all be able to use that as a resource to answer questions about candidates and find some positive information, instead of just all the negativity that’s been going around. (NOTE: Negative items are not discouraged, but hopefully are written in an informative way!)

I hope you’ve all been enjoying the info. We’ve really been ramping things up this month for a big slow-down next month leading up to the all new not-so-super-anymore Tuesday…yay!!!

Anybody have their primary coming up next month?

Are things getting tense near you, yet?

I find it nearly impossible to keep up with the information overload that comes right before an election!

Rose … LOVE what you’ve been doing here!! Thank you thank you thank you!!

    • Well, you know Newt’s my current “boyfriend.” So, every time I hear something bad about him and think, “Oh, great! Now I’m gonna have to go dump him for somebody new,” I start doing my research and find out that the rumors aren’t true. It’s like they can’t come up with any new negatives that haven’t been known for a long time. So, I’m still just left to deal with whether or not I can reconcile his personal life with his professional one.

As a counselor, I’ve known many people who have a wreck of a personal life, but are very successful in their professions. Personal lives are just so…personal, you know. It’s hard to define or explain when it comes to love and intimacy (the mental kind, not the physical).

It’s just been awfully quiet around here lately and I don’t want people to be turned off by my Newt mania. I’m rarely ever committed 100% in this type of situation, so I want to hear opposing opinions, too. Better now, than later.

Plus I was thrilled to hear that Sarah and I are flirting with the same guy!

Ditto on all counts. I was also thrilled to hear that Todd and Herman and Rick are endorsing Newt. I’m surprised that I have come to like the man very much. I definitely did NOT start out having even the smallest glimmer of a positive opinion of him, but that was before I got to know him better.

        • I didn’t have a positive opinion of him at first, either, though I can’t quite put my finger on the reason why. I was born the year before he was elected to Congress, so I certainly can’t recall anything he did under President Reagan. Interestingly enough, my “affair” with him all began during a phone call which I had made to the HB radio show about the baby dolls that say, “Islam is the Light.” I wasn’t prepared for the question, but Kevin suddenly asked me who I was leaning towards in the election. Having watched the first couple of debates, I kept changing my mind. So, I rattled of a list of two or three names I was considering and half-jokingly said, “and I even occasionally lean toward Newt Gingrich.”

Well, not only was I not prepared for the question, but I was even less prepared for the response. How could I possibly support anyone who had sat on the couch with Nancy Pelosi and made those horrible global warming videos? Honestly…I had no idea what he was talking about. All I knew was that he was doing well in the debates, I liked his ideas. And he had a loooong history in politics. So, that’s when my research began. It just seemed like the more I dug, the more I liked what I found. I still like Rick Santorum, too, but Newt Gingrich is really the first candidate I’ve ever wanted to campaign FOR. So, I’m going with it.
