It’s interesting how Ford was Nixon’s VP who became President when Nixon resigned in disgrace. Then the charismatic, folksy Democrat outsider won, but proved to be such a miserable leader that he was ousted after one term. In 2008, when Bush was wildly unpopular, McCain was billed as running for Bush’s 3rd term and, again, the charismatic, folksy Democratic outsider won and has proved to be a miserable leader. God grant that history shall repeat itself in 2012 and that we will once again be blessed with a strong, CONSERVATIVE leader like Ronald Reagan was.

Why are so many people willing to condemn a totally innocent unborn baby to death when even its rapist father doesn’t merit the death penalty?

Victims and Victors: Speaking Out About Their Pregnancies, Abortions, and Children Resulting from Sexual Assault
This compelling book addresses the complex issues surrounding sexual assault pregnancy and abortion in a clear and insightful manner. Drawn from a survey of nearly 200 women who experienced rape or incest pregnancies, Victims and Victors reveals a seldom-heard truth: that most women who become pregnant through sexual assault do not want abortions! Victims and Victors lays out a clear argument against abortion in cases of sexual assault and gives pro-lifers the tools they need to combat the argument that abortion is helpful–or even necessary–for women facing a sexual assault pregnancy.

TEXT with video: “A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it’s core Jesus’ gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can’t do your own list of rules and feel “not good enough” for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don’t represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God!”
This video is really good. And the hit count shows it.
BUT … the poet on the video talks about why “religion” is bad. And while I agree with what he says, I think we need to go a tad further and understand that, as it is defined here, “religion” is not an institution or a label.
It’s a sinfulness that is inside the hearts of individuals who put something other than God at the center of their lives.
Yes, you find religion in churches. You’ll also find it in people who never set foot in church.
(IMHO, the anti-fracking whackos in my community make the worst Christians look fairly tame by comparison.)
