THE THURSDAY GRUDGE-IMPERIAL EDITION

Posted by Pistol Pete
Don’t plan on posting too much–we’ll see how it goes.

As I drove around this morning, alone with my thoughts as I delivered my papers, I got to thinking about Obama’s naked power grab. The more I thought about it the more he reminded me of Yul Brynner in The Ten Commandments. Both believed they descended from heaven to rule as some sort of god on earth. When the Pharaoh spoke he’d point a finger and say: ‘so let it be written-so let it be done.’ The scribes would scratch his words on parchment and issue his edicts to the unwashed masses who worshipped at the many temples he had built to himself.Notice the similarities?Pharaoh took half the straw from the Israelites and told them their quota of bricks must remain the same.Pharobama takes half of what his subjects have and scolds them for being greedy for not giving more for him to use as he will.

Both caused masses of humankind great hardship and deprivation merely because they felt it was their birthright to do so.The people should be grateful to be ruled by an omnipotent being and willingly sacrifice everything in service to him.

WHITE HUT SEES WIN IN CORDRAY MOVE
Before I saw this article I had it figured out.Pharobama is picking fights intentionally with congress and the senate knowing full well they won’t buy into it.Then he waggles a finger and wails they are a ‘do nothing’ congress. This was his stated plan all along.I recall reading somewhere when he finished his Hawaiian vacation he planned on getting the tax holiday extended for a year then devoting the rest of the year to campaigning for reelection.Maybe someday we’ll have a president who takes time out from running for office to actually do something for the country.

CONGRESS SHUCKS ETHANOL SUBSIDIES,NOT MANDATES
Don Wade talked about this this morning.Congress is patting itself on the back for ending ethanol subsidies.Unfortunately, the use of ethanol in fuel is still required.Soooo since the oil companies have to spend more to produce gasoline, guess who’ll be paying more…a LOT more for gas?

ACTING LIKE A KING NOT AMONG PRESIDENT’S DUTIES
Jarrett:Obama ‘ready to take power and rule from day one.’
Its not like he tried to hide who he was and what he was.Either people didn’t take him seriously or were preoccupied with the ‘hopenchange’ hokum the media whores were feverishly selling.

Dearest and I got into a mutual ranting vent that went on quite a while, then we just had to say, “Enough!” Now my head hurts, my neck is all tight. Somehow, we each have to find ways to direct all this righteous anger into positive, productive activity. Hopefully things that will help defeat the Left in November and save our great and Godly nation from destruction. But also just to keep us centered on God’s will, His love and gracious care for us … and not on how bad this all feels.

There was a lot to digest here today, for someone who didn’t think he would post much!

In regards to the corn ethanol subsides – I was just reading about this in Schweizer’s “Throw Them All Out” last week. It seems that Sen. Dianne Feinstein and her husband bought $1 million worth of stock in Amyris in November of 2009, just before the company got a $24million grant from the Dept. of Energy, which was announced on Dec. 4, 2009. Amyris is trying to use develop a sugar-based kind of ethanol. In 2011 Sen. Tom Coburn and Ben Cardin introduced legislation to repeal the ethanol tax credit, which would threaten all biofuel makers, including Amyris. Sen. Feinstein introduced her own bill that would limit the tax credit repeal to corn-based ethanol only, putting Amyris, and her $1million investment in the catbird seat. They would have a competitive advantage over corn-based ethanol producers, while still enjoying the tax credit. It was unclear from the article that Pete linked whether the expired ethanol subsidy applied only to corn, or to all biofuels. Schweizer’s book is chock full of this stuff, and there have been a couple of nights that I have been so angry that I could not go to sleep, so I don’t think it is good bedtime reading. But I think every single citizen should read it, nevertheless.

ITA about night time reading. I have to keep that kind of book in my “with morning coffee” pile and even then it can be tough to bring myself to continue some of them.

I’m working on Hannity’s something or other … it made me so angry, I took the last two days off and looked at jewelry catalogs for my coffee break.

The titles from 2011 that I did NOT want to throw stand out for me … both of Sarah Palin’s books, George Bush’s Decision Points, Coulter’s Demonic, Breitbart’s Righteous Indignation and the Swiftie’s two books.

The Swiftie books — Unfit for Command and Setting the Record Straight — were really important reading for me last year. I wasn’t political in 2004 and had no question who I’d vote for, so I didn’t explore the Swifties during the election. But in 2011, I came across a reference to them and decided to get both books.

      I’m so glad I did.

We lived in a ridiculously liberal town (Cornell University … like Berkeley of the East Coast). My eldest brother enlisted in the Marines and was severely wounded in Vietnam, but nobody talked to me about it AT ALL. For years, I was surrounded by anti-war this that and the other, soldiers are baby killers and rapists, all the time knowing they were talking about my brother who had nearly died. He had started college when I started kindergarten, so I was a kid with no way to understand or process any of this.

It left a deep, infected hole inside that I just covered over, because I had no other way of coping. When my kids joined the military, I began to let a little of the rage out, enough to at least admit it was there. Reading the Swifties’ books last year gave me what I needed to really open up those memories and finally deal with them in a healthy way.

Wow, Chrissy. That makes me so sad. I hate knowing that any vet from any war was made to feel this way after serving our country. I cannot imagine what that felt like. I am glad you have found a way to heal.
