I really can NOT help wondering … does he have to go get permission for stuff like this from someone else? Who is actually running the show there … Michelle? Valerie? George?

Via Fox News — Al Qaeda on Friday confirmed the killing of Osama bin Laden and warned of retaliation, saying Americans’ “happiness will turn to sadness.”

The confirmation came in an Internet statement posted on militant websites, signed by “the general leadership” of Al Qaeda.

Via Fox News – Intelligence analysts said they have no recent information to indicate an active ongoing plot to target transportation and no information on possible locations or specific targets.

The FBI and Homeland Security told local officials to be on the lookout for clips or spikes missing from train tracks, packages left on or near the tracks and other indications that a train could be vulnerable.

  1. The more I think about this, I wish they would have kept the whole dang thing secret. Why did we have to know late on a Sunday night that OBL was dead ? Couldn’t they have waited a few days to get their stories straight? It’s not like we’ve waited 10 years or anything…..

I just don’t trust this White House.

I thought I read somewhere that Cheney’s ex chief of staff has already tweeted it before Obama made the announcement….but I can’t recall where I read that. If that was so, then it was being leaked and needed to come out. Of course, he could have not told the previous administration anything and it wouldn’t have been leaked.

      • Yeah, I heard they were rushing to get ahead of rumors and leaks. Could have sent out a Pentagon guy to make a short statement though promising more details after they debriefed those involved in the mission.

ITA, Dee. The behavior of underlings usually reflects the wishes of the boss.

Only a couple times in my decades of griping to bosses about bad customer service have I seen real action taken and both times, I was profusely apologized to by the owner and assured said bad apple was no longer employed. In one of the two cases, the apology was accompanied by a free gift that was worth $100!

As for all the rest … it seemed pretty clear from the utter inaction and occasional snarkiness, referrals to collection agencies and whatnot that the boss was just fine with the employee’s behavior.

It’s been clear for years that Obama’s only sore spot is His O’liness. He couldn’t care if national secrets are leaked or Democrats incite race riots, just so long as noone mars the glow of his sacred aura.

Which leads me to wonder … what’s gonna happen to Panetta!?

        • Panetta did a great job with his own leaking… about the fact that it was due to the enhanced interrogation that they got OBL 🙂

If you have not seen it, you might want to look at some of the latest from Ulsterman that really might explain a lot of things, especially about Panetta leaking that info…. it is very political 🙂

All I can say is that Panetta gets kudos for going ahead with the action when stupid was dithering like a fool, and VJ was trying to abort the mission.

      • Yes, it is true. An aide to Donald Rumsfeld sent out a twitter message stating that OBL was dead, ending it with “hot damn”.

Here in Australia, I saw a news report that had picked up the twitter message from Rumsfeld’s aide, and then I waited… and Østupid was late with his press conference, but other outlets had begun to hit with the story, all before the official announcement. At least those first reports did not contain the later spin.

  2. Housemom posted this on Facebook, and I thought you all should see it if you haven’t already:

Osama bin Laden died, and George Washington met him at the Pearly Gates.

Washington slapped him across the face and yelled, “How dare you try to destroy the nation I helped conceive!”

Patrick Henry approached, punched Osama in the nose, and shouted, “You wanted to end our liberties but you failed!”

James Madison followed, kicked him in the groin and said, “This is why I allowed our government to provide for the common defense!”

Thomas Jefferson was next. He beat bin Laden with a cane and snarled, “It was evil men like you who inspired me to write the Declaration of Independence!”

The beatings and thrashings continued as George Mason, James Monroe, and 66 other Americans unleashed their anger on the terrorist leader.

As bin Laden lay bleeding and in pain, an angel appeared. Osama wept and said, “This is not what you promised me.”

The angel replied, “I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you in Heaven. What did you think I said?”
