  1. I’m a little confused by the numbers in the graph above… I think the total national debt when Obama was sworn in was $10.6 Trillion. But it is definitely worth comparing the deficit spending (new debt created) under Obama as compared to Bush…

Go to Debt to the Penny, and search on the periods
    1/20/2001 – 4/20/2004 and
    1/20/2009 – 4/20/2012.

Deficit spending (increase in total national debt for George W. Bush in his first 3.25 years in office =
Total Debt on 4/20/2004 – Total Debt on 1/20/2001 =
    $7,141,785,769,842.52 – $5,727,776,738,304.64 =
    $1,414,009,031,537.88 ($1.414 Trillion)

Deficit spending (increase in total national debt for Barack Obama in his first 3.25 years in office =
Total Debt on 4/20/2012 – Total Debt on 1/20/2009 =
    $15,617,358,530,369.93 – $10,626,877,048,913.08 =
    $4,990,481,481,456.85 ($4.990 Trillion)

In his first 3.25 years that President George W. Bush was in office, the total national debt grew by $1.414 Trillion.

In his first 3.25 years that President Barack H. Obama was in office, the total national debt grew by $4.990 Trillion.

The rate at which the national debt grew under Obama is MORE THAN 3.5 TIMES the rate at which the national debt grew under George W. Bush for the comparable time period!

[N.b., I fixed Pill's typo at his request.]

Pill, you are such a gem! I got the graphic in email and didn’t think to CHECK it. (No head for numbers. I barely remember the phone number I’ve had since 1984.)

Chrissy, how nice to stumble over your site while randomly clicking around! I’ve missed you since the old HB days (don’t go there anymore), and I’m glad to find you. I’ll be back.

And RP, what a treat to run into you out on the tubz, doing what you do so well. See you back at the Treehouse…

    • Ting

      Nice to see you, Tundra!

I haven’t been to HB in eons myself. Glad you found me … us! PoliNation is a real community garden with, I think at last count, what … 15 people with administrative access? I love that. Nobody to dictate what can and cannot be said. We work together and we make it work. I am So Proud to be a part of it. :)

P.S. Love “Find X”, speaks totally to my level of math.

  5. Chrissy,
I like how you changed the post above. It’s also worth noting what things looked like on January 3, 2007, when Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats in Congress took majority control of the House, Senate, and therefore majority control of the budgeting and spending process.

What’s shocking to me is that in just 5 and 1/3 years, the Democrats have increased the Debt held by the public from $4.9 Trillion to $10.9 Trillion. Much of that debt is held by China, and they have more than doubled it! It’s truly shocking!

    • chrissythehyphenated

Dangerous and obviously impacting our oh-so-compassionate Democratic leadership’s ability to look down their noses at human rights violations in China. I remember Hillary being just SHOCKED that Bush wasn’t Doing More about that back in the day. Now, it’s her pandering to them. If it weren’t so frightening, it would be like those awful dead baby and dead cat jokes. You know, sick but funny.

One thing gives me some hope and that was Newt’s speech about what really tapping our domestic energy reserves would do to our economy. If his numbers were right, we could be out of debt in a fairly short time! But only if we DRILL and FRACK starting like NOW. We can’t LOSE in November. We just can’t.
